On the Wrist, from off the Cuff: Seiko 5 Sports - SNZH57 Fifty-Five Fathoms + Artem Straps Sailcloth

artemstraps.com/products/loop...
o Bottom-line - No, this watch isn’t exactly cheap and the strap is far from it (it’s basically the best Sailcloth strap on the market and is priced accordingly)
 But with so many willing to pay $400 retail and up for a plastic Swatch with a disposable movement, which at the end of the day may be highly collectable, is more a piece of genius marketing memorabilia than it is a solid wristwatch
 It will never be a Blancpain, yes it’s an authorized imitation but an imitation nonetheless
o So why not wear the Seiko 55 Fathoms with confidence? Albeit much less hype

I still have my Snzh55 that I bought years ago. My first mechanical watch. Still looks cool. Still love to wear it. Its one weakness is the lume. There's not enough of it, so it doesn't glow for very long. I paid 120€ for mine on the metal bracelet (it's the made in Japan model).

I’ve owned the blue, black, and gilt versions of this watch. This gilt version is definitely the best looking, but also the hardest to find. On Reddit, from time to time one will pop up for sale at a reasonable price. It’s good to keep an eye on there!

I have the Seiko 5 Sports Black Dial Automatic SNZH55 SNZH55J1 SNZH55J "Fifty-Five Fathoms". I think it's a great watch. Five extra fathoms beyond the Swatch version. I also wear it on an Artem Sailcloth strap.

I've had my j1 for a few years now. 7s36 inside. I wear it all the time. It kicks ass. They're expensive now though. I don't believe it would be worth the cash folks are asking for them new.

2:12 Actually. these latest Swatch collab watch can be serviced. It's not sealed. Has a screw down caseback that you can open with a generic common caseback tool. Finding a new movement will be your challenge, since I doubt swatch sells them.

They're listed as hermetically sealed by several publications and looking at the case back itself the depressions look too shallow to interact with a case back tool. Where did you see that they could be opened?

I suspected the notches might just be for show or for looks, so perhaps you're right. A lot of people are saying you're able to open it, but just baseless claims. @@AverageBros
