Hey ! Interesting description and presentation of this watch. I have my eyes on it for a few weeks now, and I think your video was the one that convinced me the most into buying it. I like the comparison you make with the Seiko Recraft (which I love but can't find at a decent price here in Europe) and the difference you point out between "trying" and just "being" vintage... A wrist shot would have been a plus ! Thank you for the video I'll check more of your content in the future.

You have to be careful wearing this watch. It really does make you feel elevated. I walked into an omega store and started bossing people around.

I'm 200% with you with the bracelet. Even with hollow end links and press clasp, i still prefer wearing it to a heavy victorinox bracelet cause it's just so much more comfortable. Really great review. Unfortunately the SNZH53K1 i was about to order ran out but oh well. Cheers.

I'm with you 100%. Just bought the Blue, gave it to my wife to wrap it for my Birthday next week! Yeah, you gotta do this if you want the right present!!!. Like you say, if it makes you feel good, and makes you want to dress up, all good, certainly makes me want to and I will be next week. Have to say it's a hell of a lot better in person than on youtube!!!

Everyone in mechanical watches lover know the Seiko5 is a perfect choice for the entry level watches, but I prefer the "sport" dive style has extra 100 water resistant because I love to wear at any outdoors activity including water sports, or simple wear it when do the washing. The snzh55 been on my wrist most of the time in last 4 years, the rotary bezel seems a bit loosen, the "hardex crystal" is OK, but got a couple cracks on the dial, although not going to break, the 7s36 movement is a lovely workhorse, I have regulate recently and the results is -2sec/a day.

-2 second is great. I ended up changing the hardlex crystal to sapphire, there should be a link on the description if you want to check out the video

I have had the SNZH55 black/silver version since 2015. I really liked your video review of it. Do I wish it had a screw down crown-yes...if it were a proper dive watch I think it would be enough for me to get rid of some of my proper divers...but it's a winner the way it is for sure...I love it on a black NATO...I find something about NATO straps that mesh with my identity - casual but purposeful and irreverent enough to wear dressed up or down. How about an update on yours?

It hasn’t been getting much wrist time recently… I’ve been on a smaller watch kick so it’s been sitting in the box. Such a good looking watch though

I got my SNZH57K1 2 weeks ago and it's my first watch that doesn't hack or hand-wind. Regarding the hand-wind, it's no big deal because I've found that the 7S36 can quickly wind its mainspring rather quickly. Hacking is another matter though. However, I found a workaround for this. You can actually stop the seconds hand by very lightly turning the crown counterclockwise so that the time would move backwards, but do so very lightly just to stop the seconds hand without moving the time back so much. This effectively lets you sync the seconds hand with your reference.

Yes! The ol' back-hacking trick

After using this for about 5 months.. Pros - really love the design. Bracelet is pretty good especially for the money. Cons - the movement!! Doesn't hack, doesn't hand wind. Worst of all, I'm getting about +20 a day!! Gotta have this thing regulated. Got mine brand new for about $140 back in Feb 2022, btw.

@@the1010watchclub if you're planning to buy the white face variant you'd better act fast, bro. In my country the model I bought is being sold by fewer sellers and even international sellers are out of stock. I hope Seiko comes up with a spiritual successor to this model. It's a real looker. Anyway, I saw a seller of this exact model here (SNZH57K1) mention that this uses a black mother of pearl. I didn't even know this thing has that material. Is this correct?

The black dial one is the bomb..looks great on the wrist..so much quality for the price..lots of compliments already

Where did you hear these are discontinued?, I had my eye on this one but the price keeps going up. It also looks like the vintage Seamaster that the Helson Sharkmaster 300m homages. This is a great watch to mod and maybe I should get one soon but once prices start going up I wait for them to come back down but they probably wont in today's economy. The Citizen Nighthawk was $130 last year but I can't find a new one for less than $225, I'll probably never get one now :`(

I’d recommend both of you can get your hands on them. I’ve had a nighthawk for ten years and still love it.

I like most of the stock bracelets for Seiko 5s, not much so for the Prospex line, though. They are lightweight and do not have sharp edges like the strapcodes.

Mine is on a Pbcode Seat Belt Nylon Quick Release James Bond from Amazon. I dream about the Tudor black bay 58 black and gold and even the 62MAS gilt dark brown SPB147 is too much money for me. Till then this will do just fine !!

Yes, they both have a 22mm lug width so the strap should fit just fine.
