He had a lot of great songs including "Move It On Over", "Lovesick Blues", "Your Cheatin' Heart", "Hey, Good Lookin'", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" etc. On New Year's Day 1953, he suffered from heart failure & died suddenly at the age of 29. When he first went to meet a producer the guy didn't think Hank wrote his own songs. So he told him to write a song about seeing an ex walking by him on the street, while the producer took Ms. Audrey (Hank's wife) to lunch. When they got back & producer opened the door there sat Hank in the producers chair & feet on desk & this is what came out of Hank. Listen to "I can't help it if I still in Love with you"

This song was released after Hank’s death at age 29. There was no rehearsal, Hank went into the studio and showed his band the new song he wrote. He told Don Helms to give him that awesome intro you can hear on the steal guitar. Hank sang the song and when finished he told them that it was good enough and he left the studio after only one recording of your cheating heart. His band never seen Hank alive again. Hanks big hit on the radio when he died was “ “Ill never get out of this World Alive.”

Now you need to listen to Hank Williams, Jr. "Family Tradition". Sr. died when Jr. was three years old. At the age of eight, his mother pushed him to perform and the country music establishment tried to turn him into his father. When he later rebelled (after nearly killing himself) his doctor told him to tell them to go to hell and sing his own music, they black balled him. He showed them in 1982 when he had nine albums on the charts. He is still performing and has a great album called The Three Hanks. He and his son, Hank III, singing together to Sr.'s songs.

You nailed it. It ain’t about country music. It’s people music. I love Hank because his music speak to the common experience we all share. The human condition. I’ve always viewed him as one of the greatest American poets. It was a pleasure to see it hit you two, too. Thanks, and good work :-). I loved this music and I know several dozen more who have too. The I’m so lonesome suggestion is spot on, but I also heard the word dark used. If you like dark, check out “Rambling Man” Oh! And yes! Old country is by far superior. It’s true honky tonk

The King of Country - Hank Williams! Imagine if he had lived to be 76 and how many more hits he would have produced. There is a unique story behind this song. Hank and his drifting cowboys only ran through the song once during the recording. Hank said that was perfect, let's go home, boys. It was one of the last songs recorded by Hank and I don't believe he sang it in concert or with his drifting cowboys. After Hank died, a DJ accidentally played the wrong side of the record (Your Cheatin Heart). Many folks loved it and requested it to be played again and again. It became a hit and Hank never got to see it hit the top of the charts for about 6 weeks.

Some singers are blessed with a "cry" in their voice, Billie Holiday had it, so did Patsy Cline, and Janis Joplin. When they sang, it was with a piece of their soul. They "connect" with their listener, ...we "feel" their pain and "joy.

You can tell the influence Hank Williams had on his Son Hank Williams JR. Hank Williams gave his son the Nickname Bocephus because He thought that Hank JR looked like a Puppet a Comedian used on Stage at The Grand Old Opera. Hank Williams performed there.

I watch these (awesome) reaction videos instead of just listening to the song because it feels like I'm listening with somebody instead of jamming solo. Thank you.

The Hillbilly Shakespeare. All music can trace back to this man. He had hits long after he died. And the royalties from others singing his song rolled in for Miss Audrey and his son Hank Jr. The man new pain like nobody else. One Sunday afternoon try his song, "I Saw The Light."

I’m 68 and I grew up with my daddy singing Hank Williams songs. He loved to sing “hey, hey good-lookin. What ya got cookin?”

He and his wife, Audrey, had a rocky relationship on which a lot of these songs were based. "Cold, Cold Heart." Hank, Jr. was expected to carry on his legacy, and he did for a while, until he found his own voice. The most beautiful sad song ever, to me, is "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." If you like old country, check out the Grand Ol' Opry.

Mr. Williams, from Montgomery, Alabama, was a singer and songwriter. His brief but powerful influence on Country music has been featured in books, songs and movies. His son, Junior, is also a singer/songwriter began his career as a boy singing his father's hit songs. Other notable country artists like Alan Jackson sang a tribute ghost story song, "Midnight in Montgomery" and David Allen Cole sang another ghost story song of Williams featuring the iconic line, "....and them sad old songs comin' out of them speakers was solid country gold."
