I am from Hollywood,Fla and I worked delivery driver in Hallendale, Fla and I used to deliver to her Condo on a regular basis and she would get a Small cheese every time and give you a 50 dollar bill and tell you to keep the change one time she asked me what kind of music that I liked and I told her the fifties and 60's and she went into another room and came back out with 3 albums and she signed them for me.

Connie was a great singer, but did you know that she was a smart business woman? With her first contract with MGM Records, she had total control over her career. She was Executive Producer of all her product. She got to record what material she wanted, record where she wanted; record with the musicians she wanted to work with; MGM bought the gowns/clothes and accessories she wore for her publicity photos, album covers, 45 record sleeves, AND Connie got to keep everything. MGM paid for all of her sessions and they couldn't recoup the money directly from Connie. MGM could not release anything Connie record unless Connie gave her consent. She had an unheard of contract for that period of time.

Connie Francis and Brenda Lee both have a lot in common...Both have great vocals and are tiny in stature. And both became big recording stars during the 50's and 60's. Note: She was also in the 1960 movie "Where The Boys Are" She also sang the movies title song. Great reaction to one of the finest female singers ever...

Connie is another one of the great young lady singers of the late 50's - early 60's. Some of her hits were "Stupid Cupid", "My Happiness", "Among My Souvenirs", "Lipstick on Your Collar", "Where The Boys Are" & "Frankie". She recorded many of her songs in other languages. And she did the singing voice for some actresses in a few movies. She had a very tragic life (was raped, lost her voice for a few years with complications from surgery, her brother was murdered, suffered from manic depression, married 4 times).

After several recordings with no chance to hit, her father told Connie that this old song will be a hit for her. Connie just didn't think so, and resisted. Finally, at the end of a recording session they had 5 minutes left. Connie said, well, what do I have to lose. She recorded this song in ONE TAKE, which is all the time there was left in the recording session. After about a month, there was nothing. Then, when watching Dick Clark's American Bandstand, he said, "This Song is Going to the Top". And, that it did. It became Connie's first of many many hits!

"Who's Sorry Now?" is a popular song with music written by Ted Snyder and lyrics by Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby. It was published in 1923, when Isham Jones had a major hit with it. Connie's father kept bugging her to record it. She kept resisting saying it was not a modern song. Finally she relented, they styled it in the 6/8 time beat of the rock and roll coroners like Elvis's slow numbers, and Pat Boone, Fats Domino. All of a sudden it went straight to number one, and launched her national career.

"Who's Sorry Now" was originally released in the 1920s and was done as an upbeat song except for another female singer who did a slow cover after its initial release. Connie didn't want to do the song but her father insisted so she did it at the end of a recording session. The story goes that she finished it just as they were running out of tape leaving only a few seconds of blank tape before the end of the reel. Connie's father was domineering and broke her heart when he made her break off a relationship with singer Bobby Darin but in this case he was right because Who's Sorry Now was Connie's first major hit and put her in the spotlight that launched her fabulous career.

Seriously doubt CF had to do very many takes. She had an amazing and beautiful voice back then. She also sang in Italian some songs. She sang the soundtrack for Where the Boys Are ( to the movie with the same name ).A romantic story of college students on sumner break at Fort Lauderdale. She would also go visit our soldiers and sing to them overseas while they were serving in the military ( in Viet Nam ).Made many songs and was very popular in the early 60 s. to 70 s.

When you do these reactions try and do live performances. This was the era of great music. Way better than the stuff nowadays.
