    I forgot to mention. Great video. I have been a little overwhelmed by this camera. Initially I thought, what have I done in purchasing probably the most sophisticated camera to date. Slowly I'm getting to grips with it and now I realise that the only real restraints I'll have with this camera is my imagination. Will checkout your other videos.

    Thanks I don't have a KZread channel. (I am an old lady that no one wants to see.) I have been doing only still photography with the em10 but I decided it was time to learn more about what the camera can do. I was always fascinated with time lapse but didn't think it would be so simple. I made two short videos on the first day. One indoors and one at dusk outdoors. I am anxious to try a dusk-to-nighttime time lapse video. What settings would you suggest for that? You really helped me a lot with this camera, which I have loved since the day I got it back in 2014. I am probably going to add the Em1 Mii or maybe wait for the 10 miii. Thanks again for your help!!

    Jamie - - well done and thank you, but Olympus moved it just to see if we are paying attention. It is now in: Menu Shooting Menu 1 Scroll down to the bottom item (I don't know what it is called) Arrow Right then Arrow Down to Time Lapse Settings Scroll down to "On" (and very important) Arrow Right (not "OK") This gives you the set up menu for Time Lapse Settings ie Frame, Start Time Waiting, etc, etc, etc.

    Hey Jamie, What's your experience with regards to battery life? I am going to be shooting some timelapse and live composite scenes over the weekend and was curious how long I might be able to shoot before my E-M5 MKII with HLD grip may die? I'm assuming if you lose power during a timelapse or live composite scene, nothing will be saved to the card? Also, do you know the output file format a timelapse is saved to? And the resolution? Can I assume it's only 720p? Thank you :)

    It's definitely going to depend on the length of your time lapse of course. One trick might be to set your camera to shoot jpegs and either normal or large fine format. That will give you a lot more space. And this I think if I remember correctly I was shooting raw plus JPEG therefore filling up my card faster. A 32 GB card will give you an extremely long time lapse... hours.

    When specs say "350 images" they don't say what kind of images. I would assume that specifications are averaging. So, if timelapse can be set to use smaller and lower quality jpgs, then, with a Battery grip you can get about 999 :o). Sorry, if I got something wrong. It would be great if Jamie could bring some clarity into the subject.

    Jamie, Is it possible to connect an external power source to this camera to do long time lapse shooting? The camera is rated at only 350 shots which will produce a rather short time lapse video, yet the built in intervalometer allows 999 frames. So how can we get the full 999 with the battery life ending at 350 shots? Thanks.

  • @JamieMacDonald

    @JamieMacDonald

    10 жыл бұрын

    Hey Ron thanks for stopping in.To answer your question you CAN use an AC power source to run the camera. You need to have the battery grip though to do this as the connection for the AC-1 power adapter is in the battery grip. With a single battery though in my E-M1 I can get around 475 shots with my camera set to no preview and playback, IS turned off, and a couple other settings. So a realistic timelapse of 450 shots is possible from a single battery.

    Gavin Haberfield I know Olympus doesn't make an external DC pack for it but there may be 3rd party options available. Or I know a DIY project to make one is probably not too awfully hard if you are sufficiently motivated. I would buy the AC power pack, but then use the connector cable from that to use in your own DC pack.
