So many feelings this episode!! I must admit, I got very invested in this match, and was super focused. I actually really liked the team Karasuno was playing against, and their left side hitter was LEGIT!
Ennoshita is growing a place in my heart... I love how he is gaining confidence and stepping up. I love to see it!

    It’s hard to pickup on a first watch through but the bathroom scene with Ennoshita wasn’t about him being upset that he didn’t get the attention. During his monologue he says “don’t relax now!” because he was feeling relieved that Daichi would be back and that he wouldn’t need to face the tougher upcoming opponents. For a moment he was relieved that he didn’t need to feel that pressure or carry that responsibility any longer than he had to. Which is why he got mad at himself because it reminds him of when he ran away the first time.

    I interpreted that a bit differently. He finally got play a major role in an important game and help the team achieve victory, which was a goal of his. I felt like "Don't relax now!" was him telling himself not to rest on his laurels and stop trying to improve just because he had achieved success. A lot of athletes fall into that trap, and Ennoshita is smart enough to know the risk and determined enough to want to avoid it.

    @@BleydTorvall yea with how the anime translates it i understand that interpretation but the manga makes it more clear that he was feeling relieved after seeing daichi. either way it leads to the same goal of wanting to improve

    I feel like Tanaka telling Ennoshita that he's a year away from being able to do what Daichi can is actually a form of praise. After all, Ennoshita is a year younger than Daichi, so Tanaka is essentially telling him that he's on the same track that Daichi was on at the same age.

  • @t3cchan
    @t3cchan2 жыл бұрын

    I think it could've been conveyed better in the show, but the reason Ennoshita was angry at himself was because he was relieved to see that Daichi wasn't seriously injured. He felt a weight off his shoulders knowing he wouldn't have to start in the next match. He is angry with himself because he knows that he should be hungry for that starting spot, and that he shouldn't be feeling relief in that moment.

    It's cool to see you immediately praise their diving drills - one can tell that you'd definitely enjoy Haikyuu with how scrupulously things are set-up, and how rewarding it feels to have all those promises fulfill~ The author of Haikyuu spoke about First writing the game properly, and Then making sure the plot fits the developments within that game, stressing that if the volleyball part doesn't make sense, then there's no point in the manga at all. So it's nice when you predict things correctly, goes to show just how much research has been done to write everything properly! "I don't want to like Takeru, but I do" - that's Haikyuu for you :"D

    I hope you read this comment. It is so hard to realize and understand for someone who is just reading the subtitles and as someone who has been living in Japan for last 6 years and been learning Japanese for 8 years. The scene where Ennoshita is in bathroom hits much harder. Because the line he says “don’t relax now” has much deeper meaning other than just this match is over … blah2. It actually means now that he saw Daichi okay, it means he doesn’t need to play as captain, hold responsibilities as captain. Which gave him some relaxation but at the same time he is mad at himself for not thinking I will fight whether Daichi is there or not, no matter who is my opponent, that is why he is mad at himself at that moment

    I always wondered who this episode title is referring to. The Japanese word is 敗北者達 (haibokusha-tachi), so first of all, it doesn't have anything to do with being "uncool" or whatever. It's not that type of "loser." Haiboku is "to suffer defeat," so you could call it "the defeated," as well. In one sense, it might be Takeru at the end, who lost to Karasuno, or Yamaguchi, who feels like he defeated himself, or Ennoshita, who had to come back from his own past mental defeats, only to feel like, even if they won the match, he hasn't actually defeated his inner demons. It's an interesting title.

    The next few episodes are going to be an absolute banger. Karasuno's final match in season 2 is generally regarded by fans as one of the top five matches in the series. Two of these matches have not been animated yet. Out of the remaining three that have been animated, fans have not reached a consensus in which order they would rank them. All three matches are so good, different fans rank them in a different order. Out of all the matches in Haikyuu that Sarah has watched so far, none of them are in the top five. tl;dr Sarah is in for a wild ride.

When you're playing actual pro matches how quickly do you actually react to those things, or what sort of 'tells' can you pick up in real time and in those split seconds?

    @6:13 One of my favorite scenes in this whole series, not better than his opponent yet, but that doesn't mean he can't put pressure on them with his limited skills right now. Hustle will usually lose to talent, but it can put a ton of pressure on talented players to feel like they have to perform at their peak constantly, which in turn will eventually cause mistakes.

    Greart watch as usual. That last save by Ennoshita is 1 of my most favorite scenes, & drove Ennoshita up on my fav chara list as well. Gonna leave my personal opinions about the iffy subs as usual: 18:12 「烏養さんが…『終盤だし、東峰さんにトス集めてもいいかもなっ』…てさ」➔ "Ukai-san... He was saying that it might be okay to start giving tosses to Azumane-san since the match is almost over". This should be more like "Ukai-san said that it might be OK to start concentrating/giving most of the tosses to Azumane-san now that we're in the last stretch of the game". Saying "start giving tosses to Azumane" at this stage in the game is obviously a bit weird. 20:00 「夕が抜けたとこ狙って得るゥッ!」➔ "They targeted the spot Yu didn't cover". I could be wrong, but I believe it should be more like "They targeted the spot where Yu left". The wording 「抜けたとこ」makes me think that Nishinoya just switched out? 25:05 「安心してんじゃねぇよ!次どこが勝ち上がって来ようが、戦ってやるって思えよ、バカッ!」➔ "Don't you dare relax now! You need to think that you're gonna defeat the next opponent that comes around, you idiot!". As many have pointed out in the comments, it's unfortunate that some seem not to get what was going on in this scene, but I guess the translation here made it a bit hard to understand, since the Japanese lines actually make it pretty clear? Maybe something more like "Don't you dare go feeling relieved, darn it! Be in the mindset that you're GONNA go out there & fight, no matter which team comes up winning, idiot!".

    The character setting of Hinata is that he is extremely athletic and fast. The show tries to highlight this a couple of times in this season, for example the spider-man move in the match against Johzenji. So that's why he is depicted in this match as being able to make the save in the back and immediately run for a spike in the front. Sure, it might seem unrealistic from a professional standpoint, but a certain degree of suspension of disbelief is required to completely enjoy Haikyuu.

    I am very grateful for Sarah's reaction because getting inside from a player of this caliber is very rare. I have to say that it is particularly interesting for me to see how real world proven world class players react and it is very interesting for me to see that Sarah though being the very very best of the sport sympathizes a lot with players who are not the very best athletes.

    Definitely have to suspend disbelief in sports anime sometimes, including the more realistic ones like Haikyuu. That said, I think Hinata picking up that dig out of bounds was a nice nod to all the penalty diving drills they did during the training camp coming to fruition, so I was okay with that part. You're right though that probably one of the other hitters should have been the one to convert.

    about the scene you're talking about at 7:38 I think we forget that they're still teenagers. yeah, maybe it's unrealistic in adult volleyball, but for kids, who are full of energy, I'm pretty sure saves like these are likely to happen. kids are light (I'm not saying volleyball players are fat or sth haha), don't have much muscles, so they are most likely to be quick. especially Hinata, who's also short, so it helps him getting to the ball quicker I guess
