He is a great driver. What makes me laugh is people who aren’t into cars and especially the ones of a vegan, sandal wearing, cycling disposition have a tendency to call this ‘bad driving’. The audacity!!! I understand the police calling this bad driving (coz they have to ensure people stick to laws etc and some of them r really good drivers) but when it comes from snowflakes and soy boys who lack the testicular fortitude to even eat a steak sandwich - I have to wonder at the irony🙄

Had a friend that could do that with most of his muscle cars... and he had them all... back in the day. I never had the nerve... or just maybe never had an over-powered car that was also loose in the back end. I WILL say, that when the chips were down, and he was challenged to a street drag, it would be yours truly in the drivers seat. I couldn't drift, but I could DAMNED SHO' snatch them gears under pressure : ) Favorite was when a '70 and definitely not-stock Z28 wanted to run his '65 442 w/425 c.i. I figure no WAY I would beat that Z off the line in that tank, so I chose 1/4 over 1/8 mile, hoping to catch him at the top end. WELL, DAMN, I had him from the start ALL THE WAY until just before the finish line... and I mean he caught me in like the LAST 50 FEET!
10 years later, and this made me smile. That big boat doing what it was never designed to do, I love it.

Now THAT is what Oldsmobile is all about. To see an ordinary sized car do this is nice, but to see a 5000-lb beast do it, now that took some serious dedication and work to the whole car in general. That nodular crank is really putting out thanks to the goodies added, the converter and final drive gears simply add to the team. I think 'Christine' has met her match.

Extremely cool. We used to call that doing a "Burt Reynolds" back in high school. That big ole boat sounds awesome.
What a sleeper :) These Old's 98's are huge cars. My grandmas old tan one just like this (not as nice) is sitting in my cousins barn.
When I was young my dad had a 1969 Olds 98 with 455 four-door white with a black hardtop. I will Never forget it
That's one of the best KZread vids I've seen for a while, can't beat old school and full size. Oh yeah.
455ci loud and proud
The sound of an Oldsmobile tearing up some rubber on the asphalt is the most beautiful of all sounds.
I think I’ve watched this video a hundred times. It’s so cool.
That guy can drive. We used to practice donuts in a empty parking lot trying to keep our front bumpers as close to the light standard while circling around it with our 80's Mustang's and Camaro's but with an older huge land yacht like that.. that's pretty damn good, too bad cars are not cool like that anymore.

one thing these videos don't show that you really have to appreciate in person, is _feeling_ these engines. When you hear that 455 revving, you feel it in your chest, your bones, as much as you hear it. it's something you can only really know when you experience it in person

I had one of these back in 1993. And oh boy, how it reflected my life and times in those days! Ha! Ha! Ha! Dual front ashtrays, speed alarm on the cruise control, olive green paint with dark green interior and a black vinyl top... then that Olds 455 Rocket V8!!!
Now THAT is NOT your father's Oldsmobile! Mad respect for getting that tuna boat to motivate with some pep! Spot on amigo.
Us 70s kid's could sling them old sleds.that was awesome!
That's the coolest thing I've ever seen a car that big do!
Nice! I had one of these as a teenager just getting my license,,,, yup that 455 would do that stuff all day! Lol
That's awesome, love the dog that patiently sits down and waits, then hauls ass over to see the driver after he spins it around and flies into the driveway!
I'm sure your neighbors love you guys!
Love it! I drove a Catalina for awhile , "floaten" , you know what I'm talking about.
Back in high school, someone did a burnout at the bottom of my friend's driveway in a brown '72 Caprice 4 door with a 400 and six passengers.
Ive never been a big fan of real loud cars, but this... This is awesome.
Oh my God my very first car was one of those my grandfather died and it was given to me in 1976. We called it the rat I could not kill that car. We used to go down Hills and Pittsburgh turn the key off while the car was still running and then turn it on so it would backfire and we'd scare little ladies waiting for the bus. I couldn't even blow the a muffler up. Indestructible
That's how you turn a yacht inside of a pond around right there!!
Notice how the dog knows to chill as he's doing the doughnuts...but runs right to it when he pulls in. Well trained pup.
When I was a kid 17 my daddy's let me drive his Delta 88 with a 455 2-door Coupe that thing would like rubber all the way around the block and have air condition that you can hang meat in at the same time
I could smell the burnt tires in Tucson, one wicked Olds 98.
Love it! This is the same reason why we have C Body '70 Chryslers
I had a 72 98 with the 455 4 bbl absolutely loved that car and it ran awesome but I never did this with it, AWESOME video love the 98 and pretty darned impressive!!!
We had a 72 back in the day, that 455 was a beast!
I remember watching this a long time ago. And I still love that acceleration sound. Reminds me of the old TV classics.
That big old land yacht was making rooster tails in a "no wake" zone!
I watch this video at least once a week:) No bull just straight to it! So satisfying seeing the raw mass and power of that beautiful beast!
My friend drove one of these to school, he had the fastest thing in the parking lot and didn’t know it
My first car was a 1972 Olds 98 with the stock 455. Still the fastest I've ever been in a car at 135mph. I would have gone faster but the road was running out. And so comfortable.

That was awesome! My dad had a 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88. Once that car got wound up, it hauled ass! Kids with ricers would do burnouts and donuts. My dad was like "Hold my beer."
That’s a beautiful machine and an impressive doughnut for a car that’s probably well over 2 tons
This is spectacular.. Even the dog was waiting for it..😄
I had one of those cars as a child and I miss it very much it was blue
I sprayed my drink when he hit lit em up. 😳
Most of these 73' 98s had a 2.42 gear ratio. They did offer an optional 2.73 ratio if you special ordered it with the towing package.
@1983jblack
Жыл бұрын
I read the 2.73 was std and you could get a 2.93 and a 3.23 as well in '73
today's teens will never realize, experience, or master the fun of the '70s.
I had an light green Oldsmobile Omega (same as Nova) with a stock 350 rocket, a carb the size of a can of pork n beans. It literally was a Grandmaws car. You could stomp it and it would easily lay 75 foot of single trac rubber (never had to brake torque it). It was mean and drove nice.

455 Rocket baby! Love that beast.
My Mom drove a '69 Olds Ninety Eight, our dogs would hear the rumble of that 455 from blocks away. I did my best to wear out the rear tires.
This keeps coming up in my feed I think I have seen this 10 times and I get goosebumps and chuckle every time my very first car in 1976 was my grandfather's 7398 Regency beat the crap out of it just like he is doing except I didn't have a loud exhaust and that was still a beautiful car at only 4 years old
Dude totally gnarly dude! Wonderful American Detroit pig iron😂
That’s when cars where made of real metal ..You could knock a fire hydrant over with these cars and Only have a small dent😂👍
This right here is living proof that 4 door tanks can be just as much fun as 2 door coupes! 🤘
This made my day! 😎. My uncle had one and we were trying to catch his ass in the “little general” sierra classic with the 454 and 4.10 gears. Man. Talk about holy shit. When I was a boy I saw the tail lights on that thing then I heard all 4 barrels open up on the truck. That’s a memory 😎😎
