350 and 455 were only engines available on 73 besides the 250 6 cylinder in smaller models. 403 wasn’t available till 1977 …..

Yep. Those wheels look like Chevy Rallies, too. Still, nice Cutlass. Don't see any of those around these parts anymore.

I have a 74 CS coupe with 60 thou on the odo. NO rust what so=ever. I just completed installing a rear wheel disk brake system, removed the rochester carb and installed an Atomic fuel injection with a GM HEI on the 350 V8, installed a moog front suspension, removed the 8-track radio and installed a Blaupunkt CD, 15' SS wheels and my next thing is the paint. The color will remain the same, Citation Bronze and it's getting a new vinyl top. I will have to think about installing a dual exhaust system, because I don't like loud pipes. I like to hear that 350 in it's original sound. For those of you don't know, the Olds 350's were different from ALL other GM 350's. The Olds were better built and had all the good stuff installed. Just look up the casting numbers. You will find that the casting numbers of 395558's starting from 1968 or 69 up to the 1976 were the BEST Olds 350's. I had a brand new 72 Cutlass Supreme that had the same casting number. I burchased a 76 Brougham with the same casting numbers. But after 1976, the Olds 350's were weak. I have a 78 Delta 88 Royal Brougham 2 door with a 350 and it has PMD(Pontiac) heads and low compression. It is not a 395558 engine and it sounds NOTHING like my 74 engine. Guys, research will tell you everything you want to know about ALL the GM engines starting from the 303 Olds engine on up to the 455's. BTW, my aunt bought a 1967 4dr Cutlass Supreme in 1967. That car had a 330 Olds 310hp V8, and it was a screamer..310hp. Well guys, there are three things us men talk about....women, football, and cars. Those three things are our loves. All this is coming from a 76 year young black man...Good Day!

Sounds like 50k on the body because the 403 was never an option on the Cutlass and weren’t produced in 73. The 403 were painted corporate blue while the Rockets skin shared gold. The guy was so excited though. Love his behavior.

Jegs offers a full 2.5" mandrel bent, header back exhaust WITH mufflers for this car for $365 with free shipping. They also have it in stainless for $499.99. Why would you patch this together with muffler bends and leave half a rusty system on there?

Not sure what you’re talking about. Most of the engines from this time period were way overbuilt for their power output. If these engines had electronic fuel injection like today’s cars do, they’d easily last 500,000 miles. The internal tolerances of these engines was nowhere near as tight as today and they could withstand being overheated numerous times without any noticeable damage. Unlike what’s built today.
