I invested about 12 hours reading about and working on this engine in my effort to ensure that the machine did not win in the ongoing battle of man and machine.
Based on this experience, if I am working on a 4 stroke, fuel injected motor in the future, I will plan to invest one hour. The first thing I will do is verify the fuel supply by removing the fitting from the engine, depressing the ball valve and then squeezing the bulb to observe the fuel quantity and velocity. The second thing I will do is install new spark plugs.
