I just found out from someone who was neighbors with this old man, that he died in July of 2020, 4 and a 1/2 years after this video was posted. According to the person who knew him, he was beginning to suffer from dementia around the time this incident occurred. He was becoming grumpy, mildly confrontational and paranoid. That would certainly explain his strange behavior and odd reasons for confronting me. My wife and I noticed that about a year after this incident, we stopped seeing him in the neighborhood. Apparently, his dementia and cognitive decline became bad enough that he and his wife needed to be moved into a senior care facility, which explains why we suddenly stopped seeing him. Then 3 and a 1/2 years after that, he died from what his obituary said was a "lengthy illness", whatever that was. The lady neighbor that knew him, also told me that he was a retired architect.

Also, I'd argue that this was absolutely not a waste of time at all because this video ended up going viral and I made money off of it. I live in a condo complex. We had a village idiot that is just like this. My neighbor caught him on her ring doorbell telling another neighbor that the HOA was going to come down HAAARRRD on him for putting up Halloween decorations. Blah, blah, blah. My friend took this video to the HOA president (we are all friends) and, since this was not true, the HOA serviced him with a warning about impersonating an HOA board member (he's a renter and not even allowed at meetings) and subject to a fine and eviction if he does anything like that again. This isn't the first time he has tried to stir up trouble. He tried to get neighbors to sign a petition he was going to take to court to show that I had 'ruined his good name' because I told someone he was a pervert. No one would sign it because they have heard him talk and agree he is a pervert. LOL I call him the village idiot because what everyone else calls him uses the 'f' word and I don't want him to have any further fodder to try to say I'm ruining his reputation. You don't owe anyone an explanation for your presence in a PUBLIC space. The old man and his friends/neighbors are entitled twits. They shouldn't be asking you anything. This is no interrogation. Also he is threatening a person on behalf of the police, making crap up, and he' clearly used to doing so. Totally agree. I'm with you on that. I've been responding to all the people giving this old guy props for confronting me with the same idea that you've presented, that it's dangerous to go confronting people that are "suspected" of being a criminal up to no good. That usually shuts them up.

Mauricio Islas well I was waiting for my sister to get back from work so we could go together to my parents house one time, and an older black lady actually called the cops saying I looked suspicious sitting in my car. It was a nice neighborhood by the way. I think it could be anybody really.

Thank you! My father always taught me to handle conflict calmly. I also took martial arts which taught the same principles of de-escalation and conflict resolution in order to avoid situations from becoming bad.
