I do not have an iron skillet but I mixed all the ingredients into my large rectangular Pyrex baking dish. I added onion and garlic powder and some steak sauce. Some carrots🥕 and celery too! I baked it at 325• oven for 1 hour and a half. I didn’t add the cheese , but it came out wonderful! After a hard days work my beau loved ❤️it! Thank you!

Delicious! Made it today and had to have seconds. I didn't have a green pepper, which I will add next time, and only used one tomato which would have gone to waste. But I didn't want it to be so heavy on tomato flavor anyway and it turned out to be great! I used some Italian seasoning, didn't peel the potatoes (which is my habit for anything like this or stew) and put extra cheese on top. YUM! Thanks so much for something different without pasta, rice or tomato paste.

That looks great! I will make that this weekend. The cheese topping seems to really set it apart from everyday to gourmet! YUM! I recently learned that almost all of the potassium in a potato is just barely under the skin….so I scrub them well and leave the skin on. It’s nearly impossible to not remove that priceless potassium.

Hi Robin, Sounds like a great plan. If you leave the skin on the potatoes try and use a thin skinned potato. I have tried it with russets and there skin is just a bit too tough - even when cooked. I find it works much better with the skins on if you use a red skinned or Yukon Gold potatoes. Enjoy! Love, Mary

11:37 - I have learnt to use finely ground chicharón (if they are not imported from Mexico, try to find good quality in the States); the chicharón will thinken very well, and if you're a low-carb/high-fat dieter (comme moi ;) ) , this is an excellent thickener for soups, etc., and as a binder in meatballs. I love your channel, Miss Mary!

@Mary I have made stuff simular to this. You can also do that same thing and add 🍜 noodles extra liquid. I always make my own hamburger helpers homemade, and tuna helpers. I have learn to alter recipes to what I have. NOW, I have a very hard TIME sticking to a recipe, I am like... Little this, pinch of that, cupped palm of of salt... That looks like it should be a cup. Lol I have been cooking since I was 3, nothing fancy, but I could build the fire, crack and fry eggs potatoes. As a child I had no clue that almost none of the other children knew how to cook. Lol

Mary, my son and I have to have a nightshade free diet because we have fibromyalgia and we discovered nightshade vegetables increased the pain we have. So no tomatoes, potatoes or peppers. Do you have any recipes that you can link or can you do recipes that are nightshade free? Many people with pain issues find such a diet helps because we are sensitive to chemicals in them. Also heart conditions. I found my heart fibrillation went away completely when I dropped nightshade veggies. Thank you.

Hi Rose, Thank you so much for sharing with me about your and your son's condition. I understand completely. My best friend (who was also the maid of honor at my wedding) had the condition you described. When she got nightshades our of her diet, she felt so much better. I will definitely look into some recipe ideas for you. In the meantime, you could certainly make this without the pepper and potatoes, etc. You could use veggies that agree with you - how about mushrooms to help fill things out? Some here have also suggested sweet potatoes. Can you enjoy those? Love, Mary

Mary, my grandmother-who past away in 1962-was diabetic and drank a-lot of carrot juice. After she ran the carrots thru the juice machine she was left with all of the carrot pulp which she would add to her pasta sauce that she fed to me and the rest of the grandkids.

Good Day Mary, Thank you for this video. I use to do a variation of this a long time ago. Thanks for the reminder. I would make this as a base, portion out and freeze, then work off that, so much you can do with this, even add eggs on top or scramble into. Also, you may not be aware of this product, it is new for me as well. Konjac Root powder, (Glucomannan). I heard of it from someone who is keto, it seems that community uses it as a thickener and it is a fiber as well. I got some and it works well. Do an experiment first by putting the suggested amount in suggested water amount and let it sit, this will show you how it behaves (thickens). Just an FYI as another alternative. Have a great weekend.

The easiest way for me is to brown my meat and drain add with onions chilli powder garlic to taste I like to add steak seasoning Tbsp of each of the seasonings I use. Make homemade or box Mac and cheese extra creamy add in hamburger mix stir well. You can add diced tomatoes of you choice, whole corn, beans. Always extra 🧀. Lol Sour cream, salsa, I have even used the helper to top a salad. Fab for leftovers... Mmm... Now I am getting hungry. This suck. Lol
