Old Boat New Trailer!! Putting Our Boat On A New Extreme Trailer
Today we give the boat some new wheels! She is now sitting pretty on a new Extreme 750 swing trailer, so in this video we set the trailer up to fit the boat perfectly!

You basically want the weight of the boat on the keel, the more rollers the better. The rollers at the side to keep the boat on an even keel and to guide the boat onto the trailer. If you intend to dip the trailer which I suspect you will, then two vertical rods at the sides of the trailer at the back can greatly assist aligning the boat with the trailer when its in the water. When trailing do not rely on the winch to secure the boat, tie it. Also you will need a tie down strap across the boat towards the rear. No matter what size of engine you will need a reasonable amount of weight on the hitch otherwise the trailer will weave on the road. The seat belt type strap on your winch is preferable to steel in many ways, but you cannot get much on the winch. Synthetic Winch Rope is better and allows the possibility to winch the whole boat trailer combination towards the vehicle on ramps and the alike, unless you like dipping the rear of your towing vehicle into salt water 🙂

I agree to an extent that having the guides in the rear are great but use PVC pipe over the post to keep from scratching the sides and a motor totter helps keeping the transom pressure less from the weight of the outboard . I use bearing buddies on all of my boat trailers also !

Everything is coming together nicely
Nice setup thus far. I have one suggestion, you really need to change the way the winch and strap are presently setup. You really want the boat's bow eye under the bow roller so if you ever have to stop quickly or get rear ended, the boat won't go into the vehicle over the bow roller. With the strap under the bow roller, it stops that from happening. And pretty simple to do. Unwind the winch strap and wind it so the strap feeds from the bottom of the winch back to the boar's bow eye. Than the boat's bow eye and strap are caught under the bow roller instead of on top. Thumbs Up!

Nice trailer! “The rollers”… over time they will “dimple” the bottom of the boat… it helps if you have more rollers than less rollers. Maybe add more on that center cross brace… It is a nice trailer!
Congrats on the new trailer! One thought on mounting the anchor roller and cleats. In place of washers make a backer plate to span all the fasteners. It will distribute the load and be better at preventing the fasteners pulling thru.
Dear Simon and Gemma, you need to have a keel roller in the back of the trailer, when unloading and loading the boat, you will damage the keel at the back traverse, and a roller will help carrying the engine when in transport. Regards from Denmark.
Great trailer just two tips 1. Add a short chain to the winch post with a carabiner that clips next to the winch hook, in case the winch fails going down the highway. 2. Do not drive around without ratchet strapping the back of the boat to the trailer, going over a speedbump could be... interesting without securing the boat to the trailer.
Also add what we call here in the US, “bearing Buddy’s” they replace the axel cap with a spring loaded grease cup with a grease zerk. With salt water this is important because it’ll push out any water that gets into the axel, by pushing grease in. It’s a must!!
About 30 years ago I restored a boat trailer that was in a fire for my 14ft Jon Boat that I turned into a upper class Jon Boat. It was a very classy Jon Boat.
The new trailer really sets the new looking boat off i hope yous both win the fishing competition and another new boat
Thanks to you guys and your post about the competion, I popped down to the show, had a chat and look at all the Extreme Trailer gear and entered the competition. I WON! I did mention that I was a Ship Happens Fish Happens follower and that's how I knew about the event/competition! Happy Days! I don't know how to post it to your Facebook. ❤🤔❤❤

Congratulations Mike! I'm so happy for you xx
you need to move the rear rollers closer to the keel or add another keel roller at the rear swing cross member. when you try to load it this way, the bow will hit that cross member before contacting the rear rollers to raise the bow over that cross member. Save that nice paint job and add another roller or make some adjustments to those rear rollers.
Haven’t finished the vid yet, but I would strongly recommend that after the trailer is all adjusted for ‘this’ boat, you loosen every adjusting nut one at a time and liberally add ‘never seize’ so when the day comes for your ‘bigger boat😊’ you’ll be ‘able’ to change adjustments. ❤ Love you guys more and more every video.
Shout out to James - great service, picked up a new axle for my trailer about 6 months back, great service from Extreme!
My only suggestion is to spot weld all adjustable mounts once positioned . It will slow any tea leaf with a spanner from half inching it while you are on the water .can't wait for you guys to get on the water with this one and sarinda take care from down under
I love the way you two banter about and get so much done. You two have really got the laminating down. Such a lot of work of love. Wish you were a few miles closer to St. Louis Missouri (USA) so I could help 😊but maybe when your done you can motor up the Mississippi River to visit.
Don't forget to get the nose load set first then adjust the trailer to suit.
All there's to say.....LOOKING GOOD!!!!
Boat looks like something out of a James Bond movie. Looks awesome.
I hope you put tie downs on the transom, it's not fun when you hit a bump with out them! Great job!
*Red Rollers!* 😄
Trailer for sale or rent straight up or even bent just so the boat will float and try it to get my goat another boat may come your way and upon the trailor stay till simon does his stuff or gemma says thats enough nice one crack on
I'm going to make a suggestion and it's just a suggestion at the very end of the trailer do it there in England but we use PVC pipe and we bend it so that it will roll along the side of the boat and help center the boat another good idea what that is if you use a steel pipe in the middle of it you can run your lights at the top of the post so they don't get water in them when you back into the water all right this is Bob from Vero Beach Florida God bless have a great week can't wait to Ship Happens and we'll see you on your next video
The eye bolt in the bow should go under the front roller not over ! Just in case you slam on your brakes the boat won’t come over the bow stanchion and hit your vehicle in the rear ! Don’t ask me how I know ! Lol. I have 12 boats all in working condition with motors ! I WIN ! Lol. The middle frame roller is to guide it straight into the bow rollers , and get loading guides for the back of the trailer , makes it easier to load and unload and mount your lights on top of the guides to keep them high and dry ! Just some tips I’ve learned over my 65 years of age and 60 years of boating ( I live in Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes ) knowledge !
Don't wear a hat! Be proud of how you look! You are the way God made you so wear it with pride!
Really smart looking combination, boat + trailer, looks straight out of the showroom 😎
Itchen bridge in the background, my old stomping ground. Did the same journey there and back in a day dropping off and picking up some motorbikes, it’s a long old slog. Great setup of the trailer and boat looks great. In my experience the first scratch is the worst but once it happens then you stop worrying about it.
Wonderful new trailer. Just a couple of things to think about. Those trailer bolts need anti-seize on them. Because this boat will become the tender. Now is the time to put the four lifting points on. That is when the engine is mounted etc. This eliminates straps that could slip off, with disastrous crash.
she's a keeper, she had great form while polishing the rear ladder
Both done yourselves proud with that boat build looks amazing well done both
i would have stopped next to you at the lights on your way back and said somebodys stole ya boat mate .lol🤣🤣🤣
All looks GREAT! Yamaha 90 for power and an electric kicker for trolling.
Nice job guys. Don't forget the red ratchet strap for the rear tieover.
I think when you pull in the anchor the flukes are going to hit the bow. Its easy to remove it and just make a bow pulpit for the roller to mount on . This will move the anchor forward allow the anchor flukes to settle under the pulpit . Just a thought.
What a sharp looking boat on a shiny new trailer !
Like it. Stealth Fighter skiff😎 50 hp Mariner will do good on it and perfect color.
Put two stainless round u bolts on the transom to ratchet strap the boat to the trailer. Keep up the fun and banter. 👍
That is really a good-looking boat. Nice job!
I am not sure what is standard in your area but here in Maine USA (we have colder winters but similar summer weather) the trend is 4 stroke engines especially on the big lakes and rivers. They are cleaner and more economical to operate and generally more reliable but are more expensive upfront. Having to mix the gas and oil for 2 strokes really sucks and is dirty and messy so for that and many other reasons I would suggest a 50 hp 4 stroke for the size of your boat. As for brand there are 3 I would recommend in this order... 1. Mercury Marine 50 hp Comand Thrust 4stroke ELPT with remote steering and power trim. They make a great engine for that boat at just over $8,000 US. 2. Honda 50 hp BF50D2LRT 4stroke, elec. Start, remote steering, power trim and tilt, for about $8,500 US. 3. TOHATSU 50hp 4stroke electric start remote steering power trim and tilt for about $6,500 US. The Tohatsu is not a bad motor as it is trusted by the military but it isnt as quiet or fuel efficient and just isn't as polished as the other two but I wanted to give you one cheaper option that was solid. The other two are equally polished and really nice. I love mercury 4 strokes for the efficiency, reliability and general good looks and they sound really nice. Weird thing to say maybe but they sound like a boat motor should sound... powerful without being loudly obnoxious. Hope this helps.
Another work of excellence out the door!
Congratulations on the Spy vs. Spy boat! As I watch I think of more! Add a chain w a sturdy carabiner, to the eye in case the wench, or strap fails. Then add eyes at the back, on both sides to of the aft so the boat won’t fly off in a panic turn situation. I had a friend killed by a passing towed boat, that very way! And should the horn go the other way to keep the salt water out? I know that’s counterintuitive but…
Strap an orange or red 'Whisker Pole' to the trailer winch support so it sticks up well above the bow. It will help guide you onto the trailer when you can't really see where you're going. Some folks put 'Guide Whips' on either side as well, but that's a bit much for such a small but well finished craft!
The anchor roller bolts need sealant under the bolt heads. Build the plate to reinforce the inside of the anchor roller plate to prevent the whole assembly from falling into the ocean after the bolts pull through the Fiberglass.
The Extreme trailer suits the boat perfectly.Nice to have the colour options on the trailer accessories. The easy adjustability is spot on, Ideal if you get different boats. I entered the extreme trailer competition after seeing your post. Fingers crossed 🤞
I would love to Gemma unedited lol
All coming together rather nicely, don't forget to get a good pair of ratchet straps at least 3''width.
Awe Gee! I thought you would be rebuilding and painting the old trailer!!
The new trailer looks great looking forward to fitting the engine.
Looks great. I think a nice Tohatsu or Mercury! A white Tohatsu might look good 👍
04/25/2023 Hello Ship. Great looking boat and trailer. I have always had boats, My pontoon was my favorite. Took Kids galore out every weekend. I hurt my back and could not stand or sit on the water. End of my boat history Good Video and job Don usa
I'll just say nothing and agree with all the comments . I couldn't say anything better , awesome job😊😅
Awesome boat love the custom touches great videos as always!! Wishing you all nothing but the best!!
Well done all around guys. Keep up the great work.
And there was me making note of a local trailer brand! Everything boaty is in Southampton... ...as for engine size, bigger is always better right? 😂
Great job on the boat and the trailer. They look really good in the sun. Cant wait to see what motor you put in.
To somehow match the colour of the boat i would go for Yamaha 50 or 60 hp ;-) And thx for your great videos 😀
The boat looks phenomenal!! LOVE the glass, grab rail, red striped sole etc. Retro shape that looks like new. Really cool! Cheers from across the pond in Oregon!
Missed one there Jemma, "you chose the colour of the rollers to match the colour of Simon's eyes".
Awesome trailer
good vid thanks lee
Looks really good, a slight shade of grey tint to the windscreen would have been really mickey mouse ( that is Aussie for 'WOW ! Look at that perfect boat' ).
I guess we are going to have to wait for the paint the trailer video
Always a pleasure watching these two enthusiasts!

Your boat and trailer look very good and the work y’all did to the boat is excellent. Can’t wait to see what engine you decide to install on the boat and actually see you guys launch her in the bay.
Good at polishing !
Good luck with the new motor.
Very nice , the only problem I found towing an empty boat Trailor was how many people don't relies its there when they come out of a side turning as you go past !!.
I would recommend a rachet strap across the rear end of the boat to cut out bounce
Bunks. Love you blokes
Boat looks very nice on the trailer in sunlight colors come out very nice
Nothin beats a nice Galvanized boat trailer with new rollers on it
them there ribby things under bottom (hehe) are normally called strakes, same as on hairy planes to prevent you skidding, so you can do hand brake turns, like having tread on tyres to keep grip on the surface your riding over
"That was a long trip... 5 hours". Makes me smile. Being born and raised in the US and living in the Desert Southwest 5 hours is going to town to get groceries, lol. Your 5 hours are probably much more scenic and green than mine, however. :) I'm enjoying seeing the progress on both projects! Cheers!

Driving on the narrow, congested British roads is a tiring experience. In most of Europe, where there is more open space, a 5 hour trip is comfortable but in UK its a nightmare, a real marathon. The US must be easier still.
Great video as always.
Lovely victory. God Bless.
Looks very cool nice job
You have done a cracking job with that boat im so well impressed, I love to see something restored to future good use like that . Ive a 27 yrs old Ford Transit that is getting similar types of treatment lol. Keep up the good work and the entertaining videos 🙂
Great job, nice looking boat!
Very nice boat well done
Hi guys Love the new trailer and newly painted boat. You will need a strap on your boat to stop it from coming off the trailer and to stop the boat from moving forwards when braking. On my old boat, I strapped it from just in front of the windshield then anchored it towards the rear of the trailer, but knowing Simon you would have worked that out already.
ours had a 40 hp 2 stroke it was OK but a bit slow on the hole shot. I would fit a 50 hp 4 stroke and recon that would be a great match. good luck on finding a suitable one.
Snazzy looking boat!
you did a great job 😎
Hey that info slide was in swedish! Way cool to read! The little boat sure looks good. Nice trailer at that,

Don't know how I've managed that!! 🤣
She's a beaut!
The wee boat is looking marvelous and the new trailer is looking grand indeed. Now a tie-down for the stern to the trailer so there is no bunny hopping when you are traveling on the roadway.
Go with a mercury 450 r should plane off nicely in all seriousness mercury 60 or 90 I feel like that should be able to handle a 90 no problem. Great looking boat.
If she says 65 hp then I see it only right that you make full use and have a 65hp (ish) engine. Just incase there are any strong currents. On the other hand, it could be fun to convert an existing outboard to water jet propulsion or even electric........ Either way, the boat looks awesome 👌 ❤❤❤
I'd throw out the narrow center rollers and get some wide ones because if you don't come on the trailer exactly straight the metal brackets on the sides of the rollers can gouge your gelcoat. Don't ask me how I know..
18:50 The boat looks very sharp.
Looks like it could be from a James Bond film!
Nice trailer. If it were mine, I'd add another center roller in the back. Mostly to keep from scratching the keel during loading and unloading on the boat ramp. The boat should be floating, but who knows? Now that you have a swim ladder and horn, don't forget the navigation lights: Port side, starboard side and rear anchor light. Probably separate switches for the anchor light verses the port & starboard lights. Of course today, they should be LED for reduced power. That spec sheet was interesting. Of course you should put in a 6 cylinder Caterpillar engine :-). Just kidding. You might check the weight of the boat, (after you finish out fitting it), without the trailer. Then check the weight that the upper deck davits can handle your big boat. You have enough space on that deck behind the arch for 2 tenders. A smaller one for general short range use. But, this boat might make a good longer ranger tender.
furnishings and awning
Looks like it should be in a bond movie
I hope I am not too late but you need to secure the back of the boat to the trailer. Tie downs absolutely required.
Love your spirit! Check with a good propellor shop, should have software predictive models for you. (would be a nice video too!) I ran these profile on software I have. Note that the older recommended motor power ratings used when your boat brochure was written has changed, at least here in US /CA. Motors are now rated at horsepower available at the propellor. This lowered the rating by 12%, making a 60 hp engine rating to today this would be a 53 hp rating. Still checking the actual engine rating method is recommended. As to your boat, from video 8:17, the hull dead rise and strakes or spray rail appear same as my boat, 12 degrees deadrise, 1.625 m beam and 38 mm spray rails, In the software I gave estimate weights and fuel (90 l) for an estimate of 850 kg. Using Aeromarine Research software, a 50 hp gives you 26 knots top speed. If your hull deadrise is more say 14 degrees this would lower speed, and if deadrise is 10 degrees top speed would be higher. Motor: Tohatsu 50 hp 2 stroke 2008 93 kg. Also for reference 2016 Tohatsu 60 hp 4 stroke 111 kg.
If the boat is rocking don't come a knocking.😆😆😆
Boat's looking good. Has an up-to-date look about it. May I make a suggestion ? Put a ratchet strap or similar from the bow eye, downwards to somewhere like the bottom of the winch post, this will stop the boat porpoising forwards and upwards under harsh or sudden braking. I know a couple of folks who learned this the hard way .I loopes a short length of chain thru' the eye on my boat , and around under the winch , as that was easy enough the way my winch post was configured . Cheap peace of mind. Damn fine work on the boat, look forward to more from you. 'Boat happens' now , as well !
You also need a strap over the boat to tie it down to the trailer. Otherwise hitting potholes will cause the hull to bounce.
Any reason for the engine bay stainless screws to sit proud vs countersunk? Have you picked an anchor/chain/rope to determine how it slides on the bow roller? For long term durability, recommend installing an underdeck supporting plate to distribute the load on the anchor roller.
You need a roller at the back of the trailer. That is the first thing the keel will hit!!
