Turning A 45 year Old Boat Into A FISHING BOAT - Part 6!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Time to start fitting all the goodies to the boat to make it a real fishing boat, we work on fitting all the external equipment, including our @scanstrutltd6804 Deck Pod, our Raymarine Chartplotter, and finishing the boat with everything we need for fishing using @RAILBLAZA
Not long not until we head off to enter the Sea Angling Classic Fishing Competition, will the boat be ready in time?

I am in the USA, 75 years young and a retired engineer. I am so delighted with your efforts on both your projects. Superb job and more important is the way you respect, support and love one another. Bravo you two wonderful people and keep up the wonderful work. Success!
Learning to fish isn't nearly as important as looking good doing it - so far, so good on that front.
I really love your humor!! and the color grey/ black. ty for taking the time to do this video!! love from Poway California.
Looking great guys! The finishing touches really add allot to the look! I would recommend getting your plastic windows covered with self healing PPF film to keep them looking nice and new for a long time 👍🏻

I had that on a motorbike petrol tank. It really is amazing stuff.
and an anchor, chain and rope, bucket, torch, flares, fire extinguisher, or a slab of beer in cans as they make great fire extinguishers. plus the real important thing like coffee maker, cooler box to keep the fire extinguishers cold. ya gonna need a bigger boat lol. I really love this boat it looks so modern and streamlined you must be so proud of yourselves. you are both great at whatever you do. luv yaz. Steve
She's a fine looking wee fishing vessel for sure Gemma & Simon!!
It looks great 👍. It reminds me of something the Gilligan and the Skipper would be out chartering boat rides for the public. lol
Very cool stuff. Loving it so far! On the antenna mount, you might consider adding a backing plate. It will help spread the force if the antenna gets to moving alot due to rough water, big wake from other boats etc. It will prevent wear and tear on the cabin roof.
Looking good guys. One point, did you fit plywood pads under the rope ties? To help stop the screws pulling though the fiberglass.
This boat is going to be very impressive when finished . I love the gadgets. Go Go Gadget
The boat belongs in a James Bond style boat chase.
My only complaint is that while I'm busy watching you guys with all your amazing projects. I'm not getting any of my own stuff done 😂 .
Just a suggestion, stair step your rod holders, this will spread your lines apart lessening cross over tangles. Rod holders while trolling or drifting with bait if stair stepping is done will also allow out riggers if you get a set to function properly. And add safety straps to secure your rods to the boat. Put antenna bass on starboard if radio is on port side, reduces feedback and it is required.
Another thorough job folks, probably more so than what used to come out of Cammel Laird. It crossed my mind that there's more Raymarine kit on that little fishing boat than a 60' Sunseeker.
The boat looks fantastic! Now, can't wait to see you doing that on Sarinda!!
Will do, thanks m8s, doin well. Keep up the good work.
Things are looking good for your fishing vessel…….Happy and Safe sailing…….⚓️🎏🎣⚓️🎏🎣
You’re doing a wonderfull job restoring this boat. The only thing I personally don’t like is the windows but that’s just me. Learning to fish is easy.
I would look in to getting backup plates for those holes you drilled
Every through deck fitting should have a backing plate. Especially cleats and items where there will be load. Otherwise the fibreglass will flex and leak, then fail.
Fancy, fancy indeed.
Recomendation; you built a very nice, functional wind screen, however I recommend you drill drainage holes at the base of the vertical parts to drain water from rain and spray that invariably will get in.
Gemma~ "Paint your Deck pod time !" ha ha
Great looking boat, I’m a little envious. The bait board, make sure it drains overboard, you don’t want all the goo going on to the deck.
Gemma and Simon, I know it's a little late on the cup holders up forward. But, they make ones that swivel which are much better for boating IMHO. Used them on my small skiing runabouts in the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta when I was younger. I'm 68 now and don't ski anymore. Just a thought. Great job on the old boat so far. I wasn't sure how I liked it early on 🙀, but now I think it's turning out great! Keep up the fantastic work! 😺😺
Nice and neat installation of all the accessories.
Great stuff, the bungs. Yeahp you will need those, you tend to leave them out when you are on the hard standing so the boat doesn't collect rain water. I would elevate the hitch as well to be sure the water goes out the back, if you forget then the hitch is too heavy to lift with the water all up the bow (been there). AND the principle point. PUT THE BUNGS BACK BEFORE YOU PUT THE BOAT BACK IN THE WATER. Can't tell you how many times I forgot, even left the bungs at home once. The phrase " aye mate your boat is sinking" comes to mind!
Looks amazing! If you don't get enough jobs for campers, you can always renovate boats.
Hey Simon, Like you, I’ve always hated drilling holes in a boat, and I’ve had to do quite a few. Drilling hols in a deck is one thing, but drilling holes in a hull is another, especially the transom or below the water line. Any hole you make in the transom is an entry point for water and rot. For mounting things below the waterline like transducers, it’s better to adhere a pad (slightly bigger that the footprint of the mounting bracket) of 20mm thick polypropylene to the transom using a quality sealant, then mount the transducer to that. Just a clue for future reference. Cheers Bloke!!
That is going to be the best-equipped little half cab in the UK at this rate. Don't forget an EPIRB!
This boat is starting to look really cool, I cant wait to see the first fishing trip.😎
Don't you just love those Railblaza products. Designed and manufactured in Kiwiland (NZ) also Scanstrut is such a quality range too. When you were Sikaflexing your exterior fittings I don't think I saw any sealant going on the screws. Potential for leaks round the screws as they loosen up with age. Inside the cabin, nice to have dome nuts over those protruding machine screw ends - looks better and will save you some skin when you bump against them. To the engine and steering wheel add two nice comfy swivelling pedestal seats.
Ahh, yes, the bait table. It reminds me of my youth working on the commercial fishing boats putting bait in the nets. My first season I was an apprentice baiter. But after the season was over I was a master baiter. 😜 The progress is fantastic. I can't wait to see what's next.

See what you did there 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Brilliant. The boat is looking fantastic. Well done.
Beautiful workmanship
It looks like something “Q” would make for 007. Awesome!
One tough looking boat you've got there! Definitely needs a "big Johnson" motor on it. And thanks for putting me up on the bumbling sailor, he's hilarious! 😂👍

glad you added 'motor' back there :-) i almost got confused :-))

@@iainlyall6475 😉👍 I'm pretty sure they still make Johnson outboard motors for boats. It's a shame, though, that they don't make "Big Johnson" tee shirts anymore.
The boat is full of "Orange Worms"! Every time you drill a hole they appear.😀
Great job it’s all long way but u save a part of history
It's looking good
Terrific stuff-no labor cost & all free parts-Have a great time with those fish.
What a fantastic job you're doing, keep going!
Fantastic work can’t believe how much you have done on this project in such a short time great team work ❤
It just keeps getting better!
In the US that White light on a fishing boat goes on the rear of the boat with a green light and a red light on the front so someone over taking you sees the white light and someone approaching your frontside knows which side of you they need to go. Besides that yall are doing an amazing job with your repairs and so on. Only missing the biggest thing is a motor we had a 115hp rated bass boat and we put a 150 on it. Lemme tell ya it would push your eye lashes back into your eyes!!!
Looking great guys can hardly wait to see you fishing.
Like the fish-tug rehab. Will look good as a ship to shore tender ambassador. Very smart n Sassy for a fish boat. Yikes 😳 and concern that the phone charging station is next to the edge of the boat. Wont ever be as calm as in the workshop. Tether your phone with a floatie. Will look good reeling in a Marlin. Cheers 🥂
I grew up in a Housing Commission house and joined the Army and moved into a Married Quarter, all of which you could not drill holes in. When I bought my own house, it took me a while to not feel guilty drilling holes in the building.
It still looks as a small James Bond Spy Boat. ;-) i love it.
The old ones are the strongest, and they made them to last. I had a 21ft boat years ago and needed to drill the Hull which was 25mm thick 😂😂
One thing to think about with the antenna is that it needs to be mounted vertically for best range. Most of the radio signal goes out at 90º to the shaft plus or minus the spread angle due to the dB gain of the antenna is.
Boat is looking nice and cleanly built!!
Don’t forget rain is not the only water that comes over a boat, waves and spray does it too and can be heavier than rain
fantastic boat! I really like to watch how you turn seemingly uninteresting things into an object of admiration and desire! I don't remember if you mentioned whether you would do interior trim or not! but if not, then I recommend cutting off the extra length of the bolts sticking out on the ceiling and putting protective plastic caps on them for the nuts! to reduce the chance of injury!

I think the reason they were checking for leaks was so that they could then do the interior trim.
Looking the part now, lots of work but more than worth it. Well done you two.
I still think a small round window in the cabin door. Don't forget the lifting points when the tender is lifted up on the ship. Oh one last thing a spot for the battery power converter
Beautiful job! Any fisher person would be proud to have the boat.
Looks very terrific
Boat looks great!
It's looking super fancy, so excited to see it finished and in the water.❤️🍻
Good on you jema pulling his wire
Great job
Nice job ! It’s turning out real well!
Great vid as always👍 You might find that you’ll want a sunscreen/visor for your tablet. They’re becoming very popular amongst boaters, but many moan about visibility in sunlight.
Excellent work..
Very spiffy...It looks like a boat out of a Bond movie!
I love that boat already! GREAT work!
Boat looks awesome, almost mint brand new
I am going to have to paint that one now ...... Cleverly thought out and implemented. well done Crack on
Well done you two. Love from the south coast
The boat look great. You guys have done a wonderful job.
Nice work guys. I think I would have put the windscreen drain holes on the outside, so the water drains to the outside of the boat and not into the cabin .
Looking great. My only suggestion would be to put some type of shroud above the ipad so that it will cut the glare. If the sun is behind you it won't make much difference, but at other angles on a bright day it could mean you could see what's on the screen. My idea of fishing is to find a shady tree on the side of a river, have a good nap, then go down to the fish and chip shop and get a feed. Cheaper, quicker and guaranteed of results!
Remember to take account of where you are going to mount your compass. each piece of electronics will have a safe compass distance, the VHF aerial should be as far away as possible
Don't forget some nice fluffy, self draining cushions for the seats. Standing in a small, rocking craft can get really tiring. That, and a small, one burner butane stove to heat your kettle for that warming cuppa when it gets chilly at sea! 🫖
You’ve really done a spectacular job refitting that boat.
Might be worth sticking a rubber strip At 00:20 where you pointed out you've made some handles on the windscreen, if you shunt forward from hitting a wave you could end up 1-inch punching the glass. 😬
Those bolts coming through are a real nut ripper
Your "scupper" on the engine well is fantastic! Carry on our fine KZread friends. You have the universe's blessing 😂
Rods. Two 6 - 8 oz uptiders, two 15 -20 lb class downtiders and two heavy duty spinning rods. Sorted. Oh and 6 suitable reels , you could manage with 4 but why skimp at this stage.
It’s a big row boat right now!
The boat looked awesome the other day!
Gee you guys did a good job looks awesome
That looks the dogs danglies. Fantastic work there both!
Fishing boat is looking so capable! Wondering if a flexible solar panel would be a nice addition - it could keep your 12v systems topped up while you are fishing.
It's beautiful!!! But it looks like a modern police boat!
looking great work... I'm looking forward to the Nav Lights, and inside work. I'm sure Sarinda will look much the same when finished (but a tiny bit bigger).
Looks like it's out of a James Bond movie.
Looks like something out of a James Bond film, you should name it 007.
Hi I was born in Heswall but now live in Worcestershire, and I enjoy crusing on the River Avon
Looks like a new boat.
More than a fishing boat it looks like a 007 Bond boat!!😅
I love that paint job, it looks professional. I need to hire yal out to deck my boat out next !! My trolling motor just went out so I got to buy a new one and they are very pricey. Do you know what size motor you need?? I believe either a 100 or a 150 would be about what you need. Yamaha is the best outboard you can get. They rarely have any problems. I noticed my lady is still looking great ❤ take care my friends 🇺🇸👍🙏
nice one
You've done a nice job on this little fishing boat, its looking pretty good as far as I'm concerned.
it looks more like a James Bond boat
Bait board on the stern 👍
Don't forget to fit a compass
Having been there and done that before, you can spend hours and hours visualizing exactly where everything should go when outfitting a boat, but wherever you decide, you will probably wish you moved it in some other position after using it for a while... I think it is a sub-part of Murphy's Law... Enjoy watching this come together. It really looks great... Thumbs Up!
Nice job Team looks great. Keep at it. ;0)
