    Thinking you should consider if you haven’t already, some ventilation in the battery compartment. They will put out fumes as they charge and your power supply may suffer from the fumes. Love your content and look forward to all your videos been watching your videos for a very long time.

    Batteries - we ran a similar setup with one "engine" battery and one "electrics" battery but we also had a cross-link switch between the two so that in the event that one died you could use the other to, usually, try and start the engine. Always call the coastguard to let them know what's happening before you flatten both batteries though :) A mains powered smart batter charger is great to make sure that you are always ready to go and makes the batteries last longer.

    Wow - just fantastic! I think that the 'Suzuki Fishing Team' are absolutely brilliant for adding you because something like boating or fishing (from a boat) can be daunting to take up just because there is a perception of being difficult to join or do (especially here in Japan). The Suzuki Fishing Team have in one single action made it look welcoming and accessible. That alone give one the confidence to walk into a marina and ask questions. Naturally, there isn't any reason why anyone shouldn't do that, but removing ridiculous perceptions that people like myself have is really welcome. Simon and Gemma are also contributing massively to encouraging many to consider taking up boating and/or fishing.

    What a wonderful comment, and if we can do it, anyone can! I'm so happy we can help show people that anything can be done, since we started our journey into fishing, the one thing that has blown me away is how supportive and helpful the community is! X

    Simon you should encapsulate those transom holes with epoxy by drilling them larger and filling the hole with epoxy than when it cures drill the right size hole for the bolts that is required. That way the transom won't rof from the bolt holes.

  • @jimmyjohnstone5878

    @jimmyjohnstone5878

    Жыл бұрын

    That's what I was going to say. Drill a bigger hole. Full with epoxy resin. Then drill through this to the correct bolt hole size. That way, no wood is directly bolted through but the load is taken by the strength of an epoxy area.

    Great video, nice to see that "finnish" (Finlands flag is blue and white) boat being finish. But I saw a PC-fan in danger, 12V battery power will shorten the lifetime for any 12V PC-fan. By putting a resistor in series with the fan will protect the fan. Formula for the resistor in (13,8V-12V)/current, current is the value stamped on the fan an the result is in ohm. And if you not have a name on the boat, my suggestion is "Fish happens".

    One silly suggestion, when you go for cushions et-al BRIGHT COLORS just in case you have any sort of emergency you will be easier to spot. Your hull color scheme is beautiful but blends into many sea conditions, having things beside the life jackets that are hi vis (even if not real high vis but bright colors.

    What about a fish box’s/bait box or you just going to use the glow in the dark plastic squid. You will need out riggers for the round fish like blue tuna. What about down riggers for cod. You have some large species of fish if you plan on winning in the contest , but pretty boats don’t catch fish.

    Thats a sweet engine and looks the biz on the back of the boat. I remember my teens on Lough Derg on holiday hanging onto a 3 HP Seagull Engine. Bomb proof little engines, but the vibration and sound like road drill on the end of your arm; you couldn't write your name after twenty minutes. Great holidays. Never caught anything other than one measly perch in all the holidays. I'd do it all over again. Had a thought in relation to your fan under the console. Fit a rheostat control, so you can reduce the noise for one and slow down the flow of air into the cabin to what's comfortable. It's cold on the water at night.

    I like that you've fitted an auxillary bracket. Most boats don't have them now. I've been told its because modern engines "don't break down" and yet I've had to tow a few back to the ramp with my old tinny. I've been a fan of Suzuki outboards for a few decades now. Good gear. Don't let having a smaller boat make you think you won't do well in her. I've won a few competitions in various events fishing out of boats under 15' while others were using 30 footers and couldn't turn a trick.

    If the boat is tail heavy , put a 50 litre plastic tank ( the tanks are very strong and safe assuming its well mounted ) up the front mounted under the deck ,inside the cabin . Then you have a deck fill and the breather / overflow goes out through the side of the boat . I have done this to one of my boats , it made a big difference . It also made a difference to steering at low speed , no more side to side .

    You could put a resistor inline with the fan to reduce the rpm and noise by a lot without losing much air flow, just get one of the right ohm and that can handle the wattage. Formulas to calculate the ohm´s is on line. You could get a variable resistor to control the speed of the fan but the higher wattage ones cost a lot more. I recommend conformal coating or similar to keep the batteries and cables under the sink from shorting as water will be in the vicinity.

    I think it might help to reduce mold and musty odors in the cabin if you fitted a metal louver to the lower part of the cabin door. With all the work to be done on Sarinda, your 'Fishing and Tip Hauler' will sit closed up for long periods. To prevent the nasty growths from getting started, mix a cup of vinegar and a 1/2 cup of water with an 1/8th teaspoon tea tree oil. Spray all the hidden spaces where mold likes to grow...And, just my opinion, I think a 'faux' porthole in the top of the cabin door would look spiffy! Lastly, will the Sprogs be coming fishing, or will it be to intense for them?...

The one I launched yesterday was a sculling dory and its fault was the rowlock position I will move that 50mm aft. Great boat god bless her and all who sail in her :) and haven't modern outboards come a long way.
