    If you glue some caps on the ends of the pvc pipes it'll help keep them from tearing holes in your tarp. And maybe paint those poles to match your boat. She still looks super awesome! 👌 Edit: I just now read the dozens of other comments about capping the pipes! 🤷‍♂️

    Put another piece of white pipe between the 2 white pipes connected with elbows. That way you are pulling the tarp over a bar, and therefore much less likely to rip or tear.

    If you put two right angle fittings and a connecting tube between the two front supports, it will prevent punching a hole in the bimini a bit better. Would not have to be glued to the uprights, just the ends of the cross piece.

    Two 90 degree ells and a short PVC pipe can link the forward poles together, preventing wear on the tarp and reducing flapping in the wind. They dont need glue except where the ells join the cross piece, the tarp should hold it down fine.

  • @mjd03085354
    @mjd03085354 Жыл бұрын

    Simon, suggestion - why don’t you solvent weld a 90 elbow to the upper top of two white tubes and add a loose pipe connection piece between the two, so it can still be split to still fold away and support the front of the canopy better.

  • @shogun666able
    @shogun666able Жыл бұрын

    Good canopy, but maybe take the pressure off the cover and get two elbows with a piece of pipe across the middle section making a C frame. Not glued as the pressure of the cover will keep it together when pulled tight down, so it packs away with the rest of it.

    Given what you have done with this small outboard (and what you routinely do with your camper conversions) I just CANNOT WAIT to to how you trick out Sarinda after you slog through a few years of rebuilding her bones. I can see where you are going and it is a clever strategy to build credibility and sponsor relationships with (relatively) small projects like this fishing boat. Sarinda will be MAGNIFICENT when you finally finish her, and you will have established yourselves as a KZread channel to be reckoned with. Look out, Riley and Eleyna on La Vagabonde. The Liverpudlians are coming for you!

    I would just suggest on them PVC pipe you have a front put a tennis ball on the end of them. That way it won’t go through your tarp or put something round up there, so it doesn’t wear on your tarp up there because it’ll go through in a heartbeat, just a suggestion, you may use it you may not have a great day.

    You might have found out already, but the white support for the Bimini might need some more fixation and strengthening. If you make a doubling of material and maybe a little cup, then that pipe will not tear through the sheet and stay put on its designated place even with wind.

    Look at getting a set of flushing muffs. They're just rubber cups on a metal clamp. They fit over the water intake for your motor and attach to a garden hose. Then you don't need to fill the tub OR open the access port. Clip them to the hose and slide them in palce, turn on the tap and run your motor. Making things for your boat can be not only fun, but much cheaper. If you could buy that same setup that was in a marine chandler it would cost you 100 pounds JUST because it's for a boat. Often you can find gear to use on a boat in garden stores and the like and repurpose it for much less.

    It was nice to see the Albert Docks. When I was young, I would get in my car and drive from the family home near Llangollen to the Albert Dock and walk around. To someone who grew up on a farm in the countryside, driving to Liverpool was such an adventure. At that time, the Albert Dock development was still relatively new (about 5 years old) and was a trendy place to go. I thought I was really cool driving into a 'big city' and the Mersey tunnel was an adventure in itself. Little did I know at the time that I would go on a bigger adventure and end up in Japan, where I still am. The Mersey tunnel has now been replaced (for me) with the Aqualine bridge and tunnel over and under Tokyo Bay, linking Kawasaki(川崎) with Kisarazu(木更津). A man made island in the middle which doubles as the motorway services is the point where the bridge becomes the tunnel. Then there is the very nearby Yamate Tunnel under Tokyo which at 17km is the second longest road tunnel in the world. It weaves in between the subway system of Tokyo and you can hear the trains from your car in the tunnel. In one location there is only 10cm difference between the road tunnel and the train tunnel. A remarkable feat of engineering. Still, The Albert Dock will also hold a special place for me and no amount of engineering will every replace that time I spent going to Liverpool.

    What is expected top speed and comfortable run speed? Were the reps happy with the rpm to speed ratio with the existing prop? Does the ladder add a bit of drag prior to plane? She does chime/wobble at high speeds then settles. Boat/engine trim tabs possible? Bimini is an inexpensive fix when idling, trolling or parked. May want to put plastic stops on the exposed pvc ends to reduce friction. I could eventually see Simon adding some additional connectors and removable poles to facilitate bimini top support from the control panel aft to the 2 adjustable painters poles. Gemma has to paint those 2 yellow adjustable poles to match one of the boat colors. You have a working template. Compare costs/features for similar size sun shade (thicker, heavier, ++ $$$, water resistant, UV protection, fading). Grey/black does retain heat. So after a few trials, you may choose or repurpose something lighter.

    If you add a third pipe in the middle front and a 90 degree L bow on each side a T in the middle and connect them with pipes it won't poke holes in the fabric after 5 minutes of use and be far more stable in the wind, if the middle pipe is a little taller it would help direct any rain of to the sides, hope it works out well for you regardless. Good luck fishing, have fun but be safe.
