Okay I just have to tell you a story I was such a awful kid 🤣🤣🤣 I hated cutting okra when I was young. Mama would send me out to cut it and I would get stung by the stalk, so I would cut the hardest ones and tell her it wasn't any good so I could quit 😔. When she would go check it. Later in the afternoon I would get into trouble by her😔 so I finally showed daddy how broke out I got from trying to cut it and he told mama to look at my arms she had a fit!!! She had never seen anyone brake out like that before. So from then on her and daddy cut the okra and I picked almost everything else I could. But yes I took many a hickery switch from my lies from not cutting okra🤣🤣🤣

When I was in my mid years I started a garden. The okra stalks got so tall it was hard to pick & I got the okra itch from picking. When I told my dad about it he told me when he grew okra & it got about hip high he would cut it back some. This would result in the okra growing bushy instead of so tall. If you decide to try this I'd do it on 1 or 2 to see if you like it.

My husband and I just put up 31 pre breaded quarts and are still picking okra at least one time a day. 😂. He finally bought a gallon of seafood breader and started tossing it in that. It’s really good 👍. We flash froze ours and vacuum sealed them in meal size portions. He preheats grease in a cast iron pan and puts frozen okra in there and cooks in the oven . Works great . I usually leave a few okra pods to dry on the stalk for next years seed. We grow Clemson spineless and red Jing . Both are great . I even snack on it raw. Of course I’m born and raised in SC so our blood runs slimey anyway😝.

I did see one where he and his lovely wife went to Deep South Homestead. But I was thinking that was this spring . I guess not . Life is short . I’m 64 and I know my clock is ticking faster to . And with the way things are going we might not have to die because we who believe and love the Lord Will meet him in the sky . I just looked back and he went to Deep South homestead 5 years ago . It was the WORST (second to asparagus), slimy and just nasty! It gives me the shivers and not in a good way! 😊 Right now I have a huge pot of green and yellow beans, fresh from the farmers market with a cut up onion and a huge ham hock simmering on the stove. Have a good day!

My mom and dad had one of those beautiful German chime clocks. Had to be careful to not wind it too tight. Funny when you live with it, you get to where you sleep right thru the chimes but when we had company, they would complain about being awake during the night with the noise! LOL we all love your chimes!❤ music in Oklahoma!

I just love your videos. I put up okra both ways like you do. My 74 year old husband still picks an acre of okra and takes to a whole selller. And we have 2 gardens just for us to put for us and our 2 girls. We have been having a year like y'all are having some of our garden has given us an overabundance of certain veggies and not so much potatoes and onions but The Lord has given us what we need . Back to the okra my husband plants and picks it because he loves it not because we need the money even tho ever bit counts I think the blooms are so beautiful to bad you can't pick it for for a bouquet but the blooms last maybe 12 hours if thaf . you have taught me so. Much and I have been putting things up or canning them since I was 12 years old. I hope y'all have a blessed day....

I'm also in North east Arkansas. My okra is the only thing that grew this year. If you cut up green tomatoes in it it's really good.
