    Dee Snider the singer is one of the most intelligent rock stars...back in the 80s al gores wife was trying to censor music and he spoke on behalf of artists...she was hoping to parade Dee in front of the cameras and show how bad rock music was...he walked in like a kid in detention, even had his statement folded up in his back pocket...then proceeded to not only counter the argument with logic and intelligence but lowkey gave her the finger without her realizing it and made the whole ordeal look stupid...highly recommend watching the footage of it...

    It went down as it should have. Gore's wife was a stuck up religious busy body trying to oppress our freedoms for our own good. I wish we had more Dee Snyders in these days of rampant moralizing censorship. All we have to do is not take it and fight it if we don't want them to tell us how to think.

    Dee Snider was a family friend when I was a kid. He gave my sister and I an autographed record as a gift one time. I also remember being maybe around 10 years old and going to Church on Easter Sunday. Dee Snider was a few rows behind me wearing a pink suit with his crazy blonde hair teased out. Stood out like a sore thumb!

    Man you have to check out Def Leppard on your journey through 80s Rock. Their drummer lost his arm in a car accident and learned to play with one arm because the band was going to quit without him.

  • @CraigKostelecky

    @CraigKostelecky

    3 жыл бұрын

    I wouldn't say the band was going to quit without him. More accurately they did not rush into replacing him and gave him the chance to work his way back. When they played their first few shows they had a backup drummer on stage, but one day the backup didn't show up and the band didn't even really notice :) Luckily for everyone involved, Rick showed he could handle it with one arm, due to the new setup he had which allowed him to simulate complicated fills with his feet, so the band never was in a tough place where they had to think about replacing him. But had Rick not been able to perform up to the standards of a band of their talent, then we may have seen Rick decide to quit or even the band move on without him. But I do not think there was ever a situation where the band would have completely stopped if Rick wasn't able to continue drumming. They did replace founding guitarist Pete Willis for alcohol issues and Steve Clark was replaced after he tragically passed away. Given that, I think the band would have continued if Rick was not able to perform at a high level. But as I said, luckily it all did work out for everyone involved.

  • @j0hnn13K
    @j0hnn13K3 жыл бұрын

    This song caused quite an uproar in the 80's, just like Alice Cooper's School's out, this song was scrutinized as "deplorable music and dangerous to our sensitive youth who must be protected from the devil's music" (not even joking in the slightest here). Bands like Twisted Sister and Alice Cooper were labeled as "devil worshipers and dangerous" and the PMRC spearheaded by Mary Elizabeth "Tipper" Gore (yes the wife of Al Gore) was going to take them down, make laws to prevent this "brainwashing noise" from reaching the ears of the teens of that day. It actually made it to the senate and like senates like to do, they had a hearing on the subject, invited socalled "experts to defend the good morals but... they made a HUGE mistake because they also invited Dee Snider (Twisted Sister singer) and Alice to those hearings, to get their side of the story. They likely expected to see guys in ripped jeans with wild hair and no intellect, and ooh boy were they wrong, they got 2 of the most articulate guys in rock who eloquently explained what the real issue was, and.. it wasnt their music that was the problem. Dee and Alice showed up well dressed, well prepared and happened to be very intelligent guys, the senate was not prepared to face actual logic and ... Dee and Alice won. (among others btw) A short video on that hearing ---> kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4OXx8ujf6i8obg.html The full hearing can be found on youtube too, aswell as the Alice Cooper hearings, but this one is only 10 minutes and shows you all there is to know. You my friend, have just watched rock legends with an actual legacy that gave metal and rock the right to be heard and that influence is still going strong today. Never try to censor something you have no knowledge of, and that is exactly what they were trying to do, try.. yes, but they failed ooh so horribly lol I suggest looking into that hearing strongly, it will give you a chuckle or two for sure. Thnx for the react and upload to one of my favorite bands of the 80's, Twisted Sister is a great band, they got humor to the max (as evident in this video too) and they just rock.

    As a teen in the 1970’s I had a strict father that would not allow that ‘hippy music’ in the house. It only served to push me out and hang at friends homes. That’s one reason I enjoy reliving music from back then through your and other reaction videos, so thank you.

    OK this is seriously one of my favorite music reaction videos now!!! The actor who played the dad they told him to ad lib what the thought people would want to stand up against and he did an awesome job. Also, if you watch Twitsted sister videos from this time they loved looney tunes and the dad was Wile E. Coyote so to speak while Twisted Sister was the Roadrunner always outdoing him. Thus, all the flying through windows and the wall and getting water thrown on him after he lands. One I think you'd like by them is the price. Twisted sister was a band for around 15 years before they got signed they started in their teens like 15 to 16 and were in their 30s by the time they finally got signed. The price is about what it's like to dedicate your life to a dream. They wanted it to be serious but the drummer had them do some big fake drumsticks to add in the homage to looney tunes even in that video!

    Saw them on the Stay Hungry tour in ‘84? I already really liked them but live they were surprisingly excellent and high power! It was one of the best concerts I’ve seen. And I’ve seen a lot of concerts. This is one of those bands you just have to see live to really see what they’re about. Some bands are just like that. Yeah they have cool songs, but live? It’s a whole new band, a whole new level. Most of the great bands really step it up live, but some are like sleepers that are almost shockingly good live. TWISTED SISTER caught us off guard big time!
