This is a video showing how to add more ram to the original xbox .I use the drag solder method to get this done .The bios will not boot if all ram chips are not soldered correctly .If your console powers on and off you have a bad conection or short in one or more ram chips .Check over your work and fix any shorts.
Xblast os for testing the ram chips .
Xblast can be flashed to modchip or use the .xbe executable. I used the .xbe file Because my modchip is unsupported for xblast.If you do have a supported modchip(aladin) you can do one chip at a time and test as you go
Tools
1.Soldering iron
2.Flux
3.Solder braid
4.magnifying glass
5.Multimeter to test for shorts

New Sub; Dryden, Mich. Well Done Brotha! I've Always wanted to do this, for I think the Quake II Arena Mod 20 Years ago (20s then).. I Dunno, I was a Nerd with Crazy Untreated ADHD: So I never Completed 90% of my Projects and I knew better than to Trust Myself with Surface Mount Parts LOL

Did you swap mod chips before testing? I didn't think open xenium could run xblast, or is that only if it's got all 4 or 8 installed? Nice work btw!

You can run xblast os but it only works if all 4 or all 8 chips are soldered to the board . It doesn't allow single chip testing . So trouble shooting not so good lol . Thanks
Where did you get your capacitors from? I plan on recapping my whole unit

I take it it's only homebrew software that takes advantage of the extra RAM?

Yes homebrew will take advantage of it . There is also a way to patch some games to use it to run at a higher resolution.

@@Warranty-Voided This video would be much better if you would tell the applications of extra ram in og Xbox at the beginning and show games comparison (with and without extra ram) at the end. Nonetheless, I love the idea, and execution of adding this ram

Needs a 128MB compatible bios. Xecuter 2 bioses won't use it. I've heard that the latest IND bios does. Xecuter 3 can handle it. Pretty sure Cerbios can, too 👍
