@@teneesh3376 did you see how many launch titles they revealed? The PS5 controller features sounds cool but in reality why do you need gyro or motion sensor on a controller? Joy cons are understand cause they're separate controllers but an actual controller doesn't need it. I hope the elite controller 3 has the haptic feedback that the PS5 controller has

@@mmm.3839 honestly, there weren't any titles that excited me. Not even halo. Though the 343 games have disappointed me Also a gyroscope is great for gyro aiming. A much better way to aim then using the analog sticks. And if you don't like it, you can turn it off. But the majority of people who have tried using gyro aiming prefer it. PC users utilize the features of the ps4 controller way more then sony ever has. But also, the controller is going to be more expensive at launch. So what's the point for the controller being more expensive, other then "it feels better"

I can think of two other reason the PS2 was very successful. First off, it was the cheapest DVD player at the time of its release, which enticed a lot of non-gamers to buy it (eventually they also started playing games on it as well). Another is that between the discontinuation of the Dreamcast in March 2001 and the release of the Gamecube in September 2001, there was a five month window where PS2 was the only 6th generation console available, which allowed Sony to accumulate more sales during this time.

@@jackmeoff9299 At that time, games are everything, I had PS2 then and if I had to choose again, I would choose PS2 again, because it had the most and the best games. Back then even 3rd party games were exclusive from Capcom, Square-Enix, Konami, Rockstar and many others that were not available on any other platform. When I think of 2001 only when Xbox and GC came out for comparison and also compared to today crazy how many excellent game (Ico, Silent Hill 2, Gran Turismo 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy 10, Jak and Daxter, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Onimusha, SSX Tricky, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Ace Combat 4, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, Grand Theft Auto III) all this in one year and almost all PS2 exclusives, later some also came to Xbox. This is the reason GAMES, not the power of the console.

@@sjuric2435 I actually owned the Dreamcast the PS2 and the Xbox I purchased them all when they came out absolutely loved the Dreamcast because it truly mimicked arcade quality graphics but unfortunately it lacked 3rd party support I felt the PS2 was a failure because it was more powerful than the Dreamcast but unfortunately much of the rendering it did lacked quality in the Dreamcast usually had a sharper and nicer picture and hands down the Xbox was King with a phenomenal game lineup I still own a fully Modded Xbox with every game ever made for Xbox on it including thousands of others I also still have my Dreamcast but I no longer have a PS2

@@jackmeoff9299 I've never had a Dreamcast, but the PS2 was stronger and quite a lot. Especially in games that printed a lot of physics and geometry like MGS2, Jak and Daxter, Shadow of Colossus, etc. Later games improved the picture quality a lot on the PS2 when they started to come with 480p support. There were also a lot of myths that the PS2 doesn't have or uses anti-aliasing, the truth is that none of those consoles used anti-aliasing in games because it was too demanding for the consoles of that time, including the Xbox, even though it is supported by hardware like the Gamecube. What the PS2 lacked was mipmapping, so the games had that characteristic PS2 look. Last week I read on the Beyond3d forum why the Game Cube never got a Burnout 3 port because it's CPU couldn't handle the game, first of all collisions and car geometry were hard to deal with on GC CPU and the game depends on a smooth 60fps. Interesting read, I didn't know that.

The PS2 was also the cheapest DVD player on the market so that helped drive the sales numbers up. Why would people buy a normal DVD player when you can buy a cheaper one that also plays video games? Sony had the perfect set up with the PS2.

@@IvanHernandez-kn5gg While I can say from experience that Sonic Heroes definitely runs best on the Xbox, its mostly on frame rate and is very much not without its other problems lol. Shadow the Hedgehog I think uses the same engine but better optimised tho, for how divisive the gameplay mechanics can be. Can say from experience also that it does NOT run better on the PS2 either though, lmao. Could not have been more glad to finally get my hands on an Xbox copy of that game after so long, several years later.

I miss those days. Made a lot of good friends on Xbox Live playing Halo 2, Midnight Club 2, Burnout 3 so many nights that turned into early mornings. Seems like a lifetime ago. Although I owned PS2 it was only for exclusives my multiplats I played on Xbox.

Crts are underrated, we got rid of them because they were big, heavy and sucked alot of electricity, but not because they didn't provide a clear picture with vga/rgb, component or s-video, with smoother motion compared to Lcd with a natural contrast and color. HD PC Crt Monitors are esp great too, and can be used for modern and retro console or pc gaming without clarity loss between resolutions as superuser said.

@@jaydenmclean8786 You can rest assured man, the superior motion of crt over lcd is a fact, no imo is necessary. There are modern lcd techniques like strobing and black frame insertion because engineers know crt-like motion is better. If you haven't heard of this you can compare this motion test on any lcd (even your phone) and crt and immediately see the clear difference. The generation just before dlc, day 1 patches and a giant lack of 2d games. Though to be fair, only sony had a controller which is decent enough for 2d games. Xbox's dpad was bad and the gamecube's was tiny

On the top of my head (talking about games made specifically for that gen and not retro rereleases), there was mega man 8, I think a metal slug game, alien hominid was ported to consoles, marvel vs capcom, street fighter 3s, and... that's all I can think of. Though do tell me some 2d games. I would like to add to the collection

The ps2 was disgustingly underpowered. I enjoyed mine but if I had an Xbox I wouldve been having a Blast with Xbox live and halo.

I never had an XBOX but i had the PS2 and it was a great console. That time my family didn't have a lot of money and we were lucky to be able to get one, but i think it was the slimmer model of the PS2. SO MUCH NOSTALGIC moments of those years :) Kevin, thank you for showing how much those times WERE GREAT!! :)

The editing and effects in this video are really good.

Such an amazing video (insert blown mind emoji here) for many many reasons. The main thing that stood out was how well it was cut together. Creating that cohesive narrative with all the other gaming creators in there was really impressive (love collabs like that). Second best Kev video of all time, only because the greatest Kev video of all time is (of course) "Thanks Nintendo."

Another thing that helped the PS2 that wasn’t mentioned? It was a DVD player, and basically the cheapest DVD player at the time. While the Xbox could play DVDs, it required the Xbox remote in order to use it.

What I came to the comments for. How could they fail to mention this? It was a HUGE reason they sold 150 million consoles. Sure there were great games, but that was an often talked about topic at the time. Want one of those new fangled DVD players? You'd be pretty dumb to not buy a PS2.

@@richardwatson5730 On Xbox 360 yes, via the HD Collection. Only MGS2 Substance arrived on the OG Xbox though. Snake Eater/Subsistence never arrived on the OG Xbox. And agreed! Replaying MGS3 currently. Still remember MGS2's demo on the PS2 that came with ZoE!

@@mrratchet I remember seeing a cardboard cutout that advertised 3 on Xbox and PC as well. Then they had to retract the Xbox logo and Kojima said it was a mistake and he never intended to put it on Xbox. Don’t remember what happened to the PC version.

Xbox live, 4 controller ports, hardrive that you could burn music into and play during some games. OG Xbox is my all time favorite. Still have mine from high school.

Btw Ken, amazing video - Seriously. Previous comment was harsh but this vids my fricken dream; I LOVE these two systems more than any other and still research the PS2 to this day, having owned and modded like 10 of them over the years recently. Modded the hell out of the OG Xbox back in the day too w/ the Mech Assault exploit and mod chips. Even ran Windows Ce on it lol. A nice side-hustle w/ ROMS n shit back in 2010 too ;)

Gta san andreas. The og xbox had more loaded into the environment( trees, bushes, people, vehicles) and looked slighty sharper than the ps2 version.

My argument has changed alot over the years. PS2 was the console I have probably played the most in my lifetime and I must say the Xbox running games on my modern television in 720p and basically the ENTIRE library in 480p just makes them way more playable than the like 10 games capable of 480p on ps2 😂

I always get all of them , they all have something to offer , from Sony and Nintendo games to Xbox and PC combo , I play my Xbox most ,I work in HVAC and I get home really late and sometimes I just don't wanna deal with PC problems , sometimes I feel like I troubleshoot and move slider more than playing ! even tho my PC is pretty beefy is just a drawback . So having a Xbox that plays games pretty good makes it my go to 3rd party machine ! Sony makes amazing games !!! And Nintendo has I believe better games than sony 🤩. In conclusion they are all great !

In conclusion: Nintendo has the best 1st party games, PlayStation the best 3rd party games and XBOX/PC the best quality.

Luis Cruz Maybe there is something up with my brother’s Xbox One, but whenever we play it has to do an update or download that takes at least a half hour. And before that you have to sign in, confirm it with another device, etc etc. Kinda sounds like the annoying troubles you go through with PC. Is there a way to not deal with this on Xbox? I go PS and Nintendo (except I skipped Wii U), so I am not really familiar with Xbox. But I am sometimes curious to get it, for the game pass (if you think that’s worth it?). Other than that, what makes you go Xbox over PS? Is 3rd party quality just slightly better than on PS, or is there more to it?

@@mikeoretta8818 I have a simple solution. I buy all the single player games that are available on Switch on the system but all the multiplayer games on PC. Exception for non demanding multiplayer games like Rocket League. But if you don't care about portability (what's wrong with you😝) go for PC/XBOX ONE.

You know as a kid i enjoyed both systems and know the ps2 has an insanely large library but now as an adult and a collector, i actually think the xbox games aged better and prefer its exclusive library over the ps2 on the whole

Im on the opposite side. I have both but I collect heavily for the Ps2 now. Playing Ps2 games in 1080i GSM in widescreen on a 50inch HDTV with wireless ps4 controller is life lol

Honestly, each platform has their own games that I really love, (especially Nintendo) but Xbox will always be special to me, with it's vastly superior Online Services in comparison to PlayStation. I made so much more memories on my Xbox 360, had so much fun, and made so many friends, and the PS3 really just had great campaign titles for me.

Great video. Looking forward to next gen. Just a slight correction, metal gear solid 3 never got released on xbox though MGS 2 did. MGS 3 got re-released on ps2 as metal gear solid 3 subsistence.

PS2 is the best console to me in my opinion and will have a special place in my brain

I've owned every console that's come out since the PlayStation 2. The console Wars are fun but honestly I hope none of these companies stop making consoles. Xbox has been my staple but recently I got a PlayStation Vita and I got very interested in PlayStation games. Now I have a PlayStation 4 which I use the Vita for remote play. I just also got a switch Lite as well. Hopefully I don't get joy con drift. Video games are fucking life.

Ps2 > Xbox. Modding helped push the Ps2 to its max potential. GSM using 1080i with OPL widescreen support wins.

I agree Xbox needs more games to rival God of War, horizon zero dawn, uncharted, bloodborne etc. if they can follow this formula they might reach Sony’s level in this industry
