Born in 1987. One thing that always stands out about 80’s media, from movies to tv to music, is that it has this unabashed optimism about it. It just felt like there was so much more of a: Let’s just let the good times roll and no matter what happens, we’ll figure it out, quality to media back then. Even the commercials on tv just felt more upbeat and happy. The synthesizer sound that accompanied this era also felt new and optimistic. Like, the world we always dreamed about in science fiction was slowly becoming apart of everyday life (Personal computers, cell phones, etc). To wake up in 2024, where everything is so downbeat, empty, dry and hallow just makes me wish to be apart of this decade so much more.

I Graduated High School in 1988... I grew up in Dearborn Michigan & can remember the Ford employees having offices that looked like these... Now after decades in business, I'm amazed at how sparsely equipped offices were back then... Perhaps more feng shui than our spaces today which is in the reverse direction I thought we would move... life is interesting...

Nah this is missing the bazillion file cabinets and the stuff pinned to walls with cork boards, in/out to-do stacks, and lots of manual equipment. Offices today are barren, with monitors, a single docking wire, and everything else relegated to the laptop.

1988 Grad here. Troy Michigan. Worked at Ford and Chrysler. I was mad when they started to tear out all of the cool offices.

This is beautiful, BM. I really like the first track. It sounds like when you wake up from a late afternoon nap, and you just lay there thinking about life. It's your day off, it's right before evening (maybe 5pm), you're still a bit groggy and waking up. The day's light has grown long and is casting shadows of the tree outside onto the opposite wall as it dances in the breeze. You can imagine the sound the leaves are making as the rustle in the wind. You start thinking how life can be surreal and dreamlike sometimes, and your thoughts drift through past memories, both good and not, and you're completely relaxed. You could lay there for hours, in no particular hurry. And then you have to pee. 😊

Although I was born in 1991, I genuinely believe that I had a past life or have an alternate universe clone where I am a suave, handsome & successful businessman in 1980's to 1990's NYC with a cool Manhattan apartment who spends his free time in jazz clubs & pool halls.

i was born in ‘83… what a wonderful time. the 90s, too. this music is beautiful… thank you ❤

i was born in 88 and i truly believe it was the best time of humanity if you lived in the west. No mobile phones, you had to hussle for real, no bs, human connections matter 101%, local cultures thrived and people had an amazing sense of belonging. Banks would line up to give you money for free just to start something and taxes were much lower. Values and respect was a must or you would be marginalized. God our parents were lucky... edit: And in 2024 we are sharing our thoughts with thousands of people who we dont know.

Lovely sounds, and the glossy vertical line on the right of the picture makes me realise how long ago was the last time i read a real magazine, with glossy paper (i was born in 77). Even if i'm happy with all the technology etc we have nowadays, i still remember how it was before and i miss it. I miss reading magazines on paper. Thank you for the sounds you make, even with their 2024 spin to them, they still manage to take me back, somehow.

To everyone who's studying with this music: Checklist: • A bottle of water, at least 1liter. Your brain works better if it has enough water and drinking helps you to concentrate • Your charger. You sometimes don't even notice that your device's battery is going down, so better have it plugged in all the time • Your headphones. You will be able to focus more with headphones, because it blocks background noises. Also, if it's a late night study session, you won't wake up anyone • a tea or coffee. Coffee keeps you awake, green or black tea can make you feel more awake as well. • Your study/work stuff: your laptop/tablet/phone , a few pens, paper or whatever you need. •Anything else you could need, what about a heat pad, a blanket, a good lamp, your pet so you have a study buddy Reminder:After an hour, you should stand up and walk a bit around. Better stop the music or put on different music for the break. Open your window, even if it's cold outside. Fresh air will make it better, trust me. You could also lay your head down on your desk for ten minutes and listen to a podcast. Or, if you have to read a book, listen to the audiobook of it. You can also listen to the audiobook while doing another thing, that's even better than listening to music while reading the book. I hope y'all had a good day, if not, that's okay too. Remember to take care of yourself and try to get some sleep tonight

I was college age in 1988, it seems like the office life was exclusive or limited to those with serious clerical training. I was still a line cook at that time. By 1991 I had got my first desk job as a computer Draftsman. And everyone still had ash trays on their desks.

I think people tend to think vaporwave is just slowed 80s sample, but I believe it’s more than this. Also the playlist is not only vaporwave, it’s many other genres such as retrowave indeed

Complete with either a Minitel or a VT-100 terminal. Basically "Alien:Isolation" without Alien (I don't think HR even existed).

Too bad offices aren't as nice as they were decades past. Just same open floor plan soulless leased cattle pen. There's a video on here about TRX Headquarters which looked like such an inspiring place to work. Nothing feels special anymore.
