Out of all the stories of all the world, this story of Amanda, Michelle, and Gina touches me the most. Hearing Amanda’s 911 call, hearing this cops testimony about the rescue and Michelle jumping into their arms, the interview with Charles... I’m so glad these girls were found safe(for intents and purposes), it gives hope for others, there’s gotta be more of them out there, I hope they all find their perfect moment to escape.

@@lynnsmith4 You're not alone. Several years ago, a couple of hours from where I live, a little boy was found in the closet of his home however by that time he had been so badly emaciated and abused that he died. The parents were let out on bail to await trial -- don't know who decided that! A friend had told me that those people lived right behind her and she had no idea what was happening. She felt somewhat guilty having not noticed something was wrong. The parents are in prison where I hope they rot. Social workers had been to the house a few times due to domestic issues however the child sadly slipped through the cracks. I bet they feel some guilt as well. You just never know what is going on in your own back yard.

What an excruciatingly emotional story! The man got off MUCH too easy, if you ask me. His death is not, "Justice." It has robbed his victims of THEIR Justice! And, it has essentially freed him from facing the consequences for what he's done. Death is NOT a "penalty." It's freedom. Freedom from consequence, and freedom from responsibility. He should have been forced to live a LONG life, alone in his cold cell with nothing but his thoughts to keep him warm at night. He should have had to wake up in that place more than the 30 to 40 mornings he did. And, committing suicide is just one last slap in the face to his victims and their families.

One of the police officers involved in the rescue was asked what he'd like to do to Ariel Castro. He gave two answers; one was from the perspective of a father (he has three daughters), and the other was from a police officer's perspective. The documentary featuring the officer is in the Real Crime series. Personally I think Castro should have been made to see out his days in a cage in the centre of Cleveland, where people could do to him whatever they liked. How anyone could represent this waste of oxygen is beyond me.

I believe the trial is to decide his sentence of life in prison or death penalty. Not his guilt. Victims have a right to speak. They say that it’s very important to those that are victims to speak .

Sometimes they were not locked up at all, and Ariel would test them by telling them he was leaving, making the door slam closed so they thought he left, and If they came down trying to escape he would catch them because he didnt really leave and would punish them pretty badly for it. So that kept them “in line” even when they weren’t attached to anything or locked up.

Okay. Ummmm. Michelle and gina were in one room, there were locks and chains, but as the person above me explained. They wernt always chained, especially once Jocelyn was born. He became more lenient and i belive that he started to think they were an actual family. Amanda and Jocelyn were in a separate room from gina and Michelle. Jocelyns the one who told Amanda that ariel wasnt home, amanda insisted he was because there doors were open, not locked. Once amanda realized that Ariel wasnt home fr, she nade an escape to the locked up front door. I hope this helps

Also, Castro constantly "conditioned" them to act to his will. They were not to leave the house or their rooms unless they wanted to be beaten and raped. He would sometimes hide in the house and make them think that he had left. He would wait until the girls got brave enough to leave their rooms, and once they did he would unleash complete hell upon them.
