Off the Beaten Path: HIDDEN Monument Near Gettysburg | Get That Man Part 2

On today’s episode of Monuments Monday, ACHS Historian Tim Smith has a different kind of monument story for you! Join Tim as he travels off the beaten path to visit a monument hidden in plain sight just 20 minutes from the heart of Gettysburg in the Michaux State Forest along the Lincoln Highway (Route 30).
In Part 2, Tim delves into the specifics of a nearly 100 year old bank robbery, including the tragic death of Francis L. Haley, a young member of the Pennsylvania State Police. Haley’s last words, “I’m shot, get that man,” became a rallying cry for the state police and eventually resulted in the apprehension of the criminal responsible for Haley’s death.

This is fabulous---I spent my childhood summers at Caledonia, and was very familiar with the Graeffenburg Inn. (We used to eat there often) I never knew this monument was there, and never heard this story. I am going to look it up in the Chambersburg paper. Thanks!!

Thanks, Tim, for the continuing tale of the murder from 1924. Look forward to next week's episode from Abbottstown. Also, thanks for the look inside the production of these videos. A lot more work goes into these than most people realize.
