My favorite monument on the battlefield. Even though I'm from Indiana. I was not aware that repair had been made in 1990 so that I could go up the stairs in 2022.

After 32 years I returned to the City I enlisted from in 1964. I was surprised to see a monument to Vietnam veterans with my name on it. At least there wasn't a gold star next to it like a lot of my High School classmates.

Waking up and seeing a Tim Smith video dropped in my notifications is a pleasant way to start my day. It’s up there with notifications from JD at History Underground, ABT, or Vlogging thru History, it just makes your day a bit better and increase’s my knowledge. Thank you

This monument is absolutely stunning. Any trip to the battlefield should include visiting this monument and walking up the interior staircase to the top to view the battlefield from that perspective.

The Monument is Breathtaking and Beautiful to view up close and inside. Video and audio doesn't do it Justice. Then again, Nothing, about Gettysburg is done Justice without being there. The Pennsylvania Monument is Truly Special though, when I first saw it my breath paused.

Thank you for a great video. I love this monument and am so proud that I have at least two ancestors on the memorial. I finally got to bring my children and introduce them to their 3X great grandfather.

Sgt. Charles Fasnacht Co, A, 99th PA INF. was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at the Wildnerness. My ggg grandfather, Cpl. Edwin M Eshelman was in CO. E.

I work all throughout the farms of Berks County and it neat to think about how these young men left their farms and lives behind to go to war for something bigger than themselves.

A great explanation and very interesting! I have never been on top of the Pennsylvania monument but will check it out the next time I go to Gettysburg, I had relatives who fought at Gettysburg from both sides. Several in the West Virginia Cavalry units and several in the Virginia Cavalry units.

Pennsylvania apparently thought that a monument's value was related to "how big." But, no one can even recognize what the thing is until they read the plaque. A far better monument that speaks for itself despite its small size is the Mississippi monument.

A nice explanation of all those men from the same town, county, and state. An area suffering heavy causalities could be heavily impacted. Now, during the Vietnam Era, troops would train together from an area, but after training the men were dispersed and not all put into the same regiment or company from the same place. Eaglegards...

@@sjb3460 Senator Sam None (Nunn of Georgia) took and integrated the Guard units as a reserve into our Armed Services. When these outfits are called up, the home has no defense. My son-in-law is in the Army and does more social training about homosexual issues than anything.

My ancestor are on there. Coincidently also descendants of Boone from Berks. Dr. Charles and brother Jeremiah C Hill. Both from 26th Emergency Militia. Jeremiah is my great grandfather.

Been to Gettysburg many times imo the Louisiana monument although not large is surely the most beautiful on the field.

Why did Howard maintain reserve artillery and brigade units on cemetary hill on the first day if not for future defence ?

I think this monument is the answer to the Illinois monument at Shiloh. The Shiloh Illinois monument was built first. So Pennsylvania wanted to be bigger and better

5 🌟 presentation. I am a lover if stats and facts and odd stories of the war. I'm from fulton cty, PA and at least 6th generation still lving there same farm area. I'd love to find out if I have decendents that fought and if any local companies were engaged at gettysburg.

I'm originally from San Diego, having visited Gettysburg. I found my great great grandfather's name on that monument. Edward s. Carr. I don't know alot about his story at the time. He was in the 1st Michigan infantry. There could not have been two Edward s. Carrs. His name is found up the stairs inside the Monument.

Was there a PA regiment for Franklin County (just west of Adams County)? The county seat is in Chambersburg.

We just visited and found my wife’s 2 relatives who were there.
