Well you just convinced me that I made the right choice in buying the 2022 Ascent. I volunteer with the FTA in Florida on trail maintenance, some areas are in the back country. Your trip to Ocala and other remote areas helped me realize I can do modifications and set it up for off road. Your Ascent has that nice aggressive look that I’m looking for. I was also apprehensive about pulling out the bench seats to create a more livable space. You’ve help me to realize it is doable. I will be looking into those modifications for my vehicle. I’m willing to beat it voids some warranties. I will also look into having Subaru do the mods?? Thanks, JD

Thanks! The Ascent is so much fun! I have even more adventures planned for this year.
I didn’t realize I bought my wife a rock crawler! 😂

LOL!!! Great off-road crawler, but not so much over big rocks. Lots of fun, either way, and a lot more comfortable going cross country than in a rock crawler. 😂
Nice. My husband and I will think about buying the car.
What wheels and tire are you running?

Hi! All the details of my build are in the end credits of this vid (you can use the chapter feature to jump right to them): kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5aslKp_iqi0oqQ.html Short version is I am using Liquid Metal Shadows wrapped with Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. But, be aware there are only 5 wheels in that size that can carry the Ascent's weight and also clear the front calipers.
What roof rack is that?

Hi Brett, sorry I just saw this. It's a Rola Vortex/V-Tex, and I love it. You can find it here: amzn.to/3mhkPv7 In that vid, I am running it with an 18" extension in place, making the total interior usable space 63". Here's the extension (currently over $25 cheaper than when I bought it): amzn.to/3UBWltn If you get it, follow the tips in the comments about touching up any rough paint places at the welds, and using a good water repellant or petroleum jelly in the joints - it will last a lot longer. I didn't do either of those, and mine is still doing really well, three and a half years later.
Does the lift kit you add void the manufacturer warranty?

While nothing voids the warranty, certain things may cause warranty claims to be denied. My suspension articulates near identical to OEM, so, I don't expect to have any problems. But some lift kits don't do that, and may cause certain warranty claims to be denied (for instance, if your lift kit changes the axle angle articulation, a CV joint warranty claim may be denied). For specific things (specific parts, lift kits, etc), I couldn't answer, because besides not working in Subaru's warranty department, I can't help with what criteria will cause a denial.
