Octoprint is extremely useful. Connect a screen to the pi and run something like Octodash. Adds stop/start of prints through Octoprint, plus many other features for controlling your printer (filament change for example.) I run smart plugs to control the power to the printer and a light. I can remotely switch on the printer, upload G-code, start the print, monitor the print, via a webcam and switch on a light if required. Just ordered my second printer.
Thanks for the heads up !
I am using octopie integrated in my HomeAssistant smarthome processed via Node-Red, so Alexa lets my lights flash and talks a custom text for every event that i programmed, for example when a print is at 99%, all my alexa devices at home tell me "Your 3D print almost done, it's at 99%" and will flash green for 3 times. After 22:00 it is only speaking at my living room with a whispering voice. You can send notifications to your phone, email whatever. Or the smartplug on my Prusai3 cuts the power after a printjob is finished and the extruder temp cooled down under 40°C to save energy. The possibilites are endless, but be warned, that is a deep rabbit hole, once you got the hang of it.

Haha that is so awesome! Yes the plan is to add smart plugs as well to keep it more safe. Maybe sort out what printers that actually are smooth to operate via the system and add my air purifier to run when things are printing. But DSLR for the OctoLapse is prolly my prio =)

That's pretty cool
Can that system respond to commands in the gcode while printing so that the camera will stay pointed model as the model gets higher?
