My therapist tried to tell me that I do not have ocd because I don't have physical compulsions like hand washing, etc. which has led me into more doom because if I don't have ocd, then, what is wrong with me. If its not ocd, then I really must be a gross and disgisting person. I spend hours ruminating and trying to prove myself how the thoughts are not true. I really need help. My heart goes out to all people who go through this, you guys are beautiful beings and are not disgusting.

As someone who suffers from OCD since 4yrs old and is on disability for it. I can say that some or even alot of thoughts are forced or made up by OCD that wouldn't normally occur at all if the OCD wasn't there.

Valuable information it's never too late to get help when I was in my early twenties living in New York City something happened to me I thought I was losing my mind I was seeking out for help and found a great psychiatrist that help me for many years but never really ending the thoughts running through my mind though it did get better always haunting me absolutely great information I thought I was alone I thought I was losing my mind I thought I was crazy so scared and so afraid your information has helped me a great deal to see that I am not alone and there is understanding out there thank you for the light that I can see all of us that suffer from this has only made us more aware of ourselves have a greater understanding and acceptance that piece will follow a calmness and understanding

I disagree. It is misleading and inaccurate. There is no OCD without compulsions. The mistake "pure O" believers make, is not correctly identifying their mental compulsions, or concealing them from their doctor because of shame or other reasons. The shrinks can only go by what they are told. All OCD contains obsessions and compulsions, whether the compulsive behaviour takes place physically or mentally.

Thank you very much for this, Chrissie and Dr. Phillipson. It has been really enlightening. I was misdiagnosed for 18 years ("just anxiety disorder"). Just found my thing is Pure O and Sensorimotor OCD. I already begun therapy, but I think I need someone much more specialized on the subject, even if it's via Skype. I am from Peru. And advice would be helpful. Thanks again!

I never believed any one theme is worse. If you get classically conditioned to be fearful of the word grape. You are just as terrified as hearing the word murder. It’s just the emotional conditioning. Also, I think validation is needed more in ERP. validation for the work the person is doing and just intermittent encouragement. I personally can go without reassurance because I just don’t give too much weight to the thoughts now that I started therapy. I’m just one of those people that can jump into things.

i will tell you sth you can't imagine now i am seeking for anxiety to overcome my ocd . i have now ROCD and during this ocd i had 3 or 4 types of ocd and i wiped them off by not paying any attention and accept the huge feeling of anxiety and stop myself of analyzing the feeling or thoughts . so after while i overcome that new ocd . back to ROCD which still with me i don't know why , All my emotions are blocked i don't know why . now i try to generate anxiety myself of that specific ocd to overcome it like other ocd i overcomed but all my feelings blocked . do u have any idea why ?? thanks Chrissie

Technically it is an anxiety disorder, but what many of us get really stuck on is how emotional it is and how it feels. It becomes so personal.

I have been suffering from OCD for the past 8 years. Impotency OCD, failed to get an erection once and it's fucked me up since. There's times i wish i had a different OCD theme but i realise that the theme doesn't matter. OCD is OCD and ever since i learnt what the problem is i realise that i have dealing with it. My OCD is still severe but i can definitely sport these mind tricks a lot better now. These videos have been very helpful, Thank you IF anyone has and suggestions please share

  • @JoeySkate24

thats actually false . amygdala is fine to all people ocd is not a medical condition . they got that wrong. it just becomes hyper active due to anxious and stress causing behaviors . it doesnt matter what your mind does but how you manage it / react to it. yes its ocd by the way but ocd means nothing more than a person who has a big build up of stress and (symptoms such as increased fearful thinking , crazy thoughts , dizziness other physical and mental symptoms etc) and maintains that stressed state because he doesnt know how to manage it . i would strongly suggest mindfullness meditation and practice it for the rest of your days ! peace , youll be fine
