occidental leather vs Nylon tool bag comparison and cleaning

in this video I'm going to talk about a few things I consider when looking tool bags. leather and nylon are the traditional materials used in tool bag making. there are many brands to choose from like your box store brands like husky and Cobalt and the commercially branded bags like clc, occidental and diamond back.
this is my opinion and I hope you enjoy.

Biased to oxy too, have three sets all with suspenders. Had a DB set and sold it. Had to bend too much sideways to get to the bottom of the bags. I wear my belt lower on my hips. Also, hated the material, felt too GI Joe ish and they sell at a higher price point then Oxy (Canada). And the pouches had too many slots and felt non dedicated. I also tried Buckaroos and sold that as well. They just didn't feel right. Oxy's are it for me, no questions asked. Leather is amazing and lasts a long time. I've had my pro framers nearly 25 years and other then the leather having changed colour, they are still holding up. I did however, have a problem with a proframer nail bag where the speed square slot rivet wasn't placed properly causing the speed square to ride too much out of the slot. It was a gift for my son... returned it and got another which is perfectly fine.

I've had both the Occidental oxylight framer set up and the Diamondback chopo set up. Also do steel studs and drywall, part of the union in Canada. Both have their pros and cons. Diamondback back is nice and small so slipping through stud walls is amazing as well as boarding tops when there's all those pipes and ductwork in the way. Occidental on the other hand are big bags you can easy store a days worth of framing screws in there and a decent a mount of 1 1/4" and 1 7/8" screws. Only thing I will say is I love using the Occidental suspenders on my Diamondback set up. Been doing that for a year now and I don't think I'll go back. Plus if you want to save your body, I love how the diamondback bags are velcro. So attaching them to your genie when your on it all day is awesome. Both have their pros and cons.

There's just something about leather that nylon will never replicate.

I ordered Buckaroo suspenders and a belt And they are Awesome!! 👌 I might later buy a set of Diamondback bags. P.s. on my Buckaroo suspenders and belt I attached occidental pouches.

Got to love the Polar seltzer. I live about 45min from the factory. But I actually like Faygo better. As for bags you just can't beat Occidental products.

Don't get it twisted. Bird noises can be annoying. With that said, love the birds. I have bonded with them when ever you show em on Facebook lol. Always want to go for leather. Problem is leather harsh environment just can't hold up in the long haul. I can't agree with you on looks, LEATHER always wins in looks. ALWAYS.

You can put the all nylon pouches in the laundry machine and hang out to air dry

"Fisher Price " lol. I think the Burkeroo belt looks good. They have a nice system. I don't know if I would buy diamond back bags. Occidental is the only I would go.

Occidental "green builder" set, w/ the tape and chalk line/small fastener pouch on the left. It's a little heavy, and the tool pouch isn't ideal for drywall/densglass, but OK for framing. Would like more tool slots on the right hand side, but it's working for now. Might switch to the fatlip set if I have to keep lifting HDS studs 😉

i have to say I've been using oxy for about 3 years now all leather. I'm an electrician so i did use mainly gaterback from the wholesaler they never lasted me more than a year. so switched to leather not oxy at first tried a few brands they were ok but didn't feel right finally bought oxy, amd well best pouches I've owned all leather i built my own belt to my liking. they have lasted i do use a buckaroo belt as the oxy was good with sheap skin but the pouches slide so i went buckaroo and i have been really happy. i have to say when they are fully loaded weight wise you can't tell the difference from nylon. i heard that from an og electrician who actually got me to try leather and yes he was right a lot of my coworkers tried my bags copared to their nylon and yes they agreed fully loaded you really can't tell the difference so might as well go leather they will last. i ahve been tempted to try diamond backs, but still don't trust nylon. price is about the same as what i paid fir my set not including the buckaroo belt just all oxy since i chose each puch all leather and well belt and sheap skin liner. now add my buckaroo back support belt well I'm to invested now to swich.

How dare you have an opinion on diamondback! Drink the cool aid man, try them out, you just need to make a set up proper for you. If you have questions about anything let me know. I own a fair share of bags so I know what they all do.
