Very nice project, I think you're going to get a lot of views from this one. I'm betting a lot of people are wondering how to do this swap. I remember about a year ago, there was a guy in the comments asking if you were ever going to do one, hopefully he's still watching! I'm very interested to see how you get the gauges to work from the 6l's computer. If I remember correctly, the oil pressure, water temp, volts and fuel(and trans temp?) on the GMT800 is still just an analogue signal, but I think the speedo and tach are can bus. This is going to be a pretty sweet project. Glad to hear your business is going so well Jason. Oh, and you think this truck is rough to pull the engine on? Try a 95 3500 with the 6.5 turbo diesel. I did a body swap on one, so the entire wire harness in the engine bay and dash had to be swapped over.....it sucked LOL

Hey Colin, man this thing is kicking my butt. Hopefully he is still watching, and he sees this comment thread. Lol. One thing I've learned already on it, if you're going to swap an OBS Chevy or GMC, start with one that had a small block or a 4.3, there are a LOT of differences in the diesel and big block trucks. I think I've got the gauges figured out, basically just run an additional temp sensor, oil pressure sensor, and the fuel level is separate from the pcm. I'll cover it more in depth in the electrical video. I think had it been a diesel, I would have just sucked it up and pulled the core support. it was SKETCHY getting the engine out of this thing. A diesel would be even worse.

Do you think those ICT Billet adapters will work for 99 firebird? I mean LS motor physical size is the same right? With them being adjustable I would think it would work.

Yes I do, the motor mount adapters work in TONS of applications, I've seen them work perfectly on all kinds of stuff that originally had a small block 305 or 350.

More power, better fuel economy, better overall driveability, because they wanted to, because it costs less than rebuilding or replacing the 454. Plenty of reasons.
