I love that they decided to portray Obi-wan as pretty traumatized by what he had to do in Episode 3. He was forced to kill Anakin, his brother, in the next best thing to Hell. Portraying him as carrying some trauma from that really makes him much more human and relatable.

It always irritated me when people criticised Obi-Wan in this show for not being the charming swashbuckler he was in the prequels. He believed that he killed his best friend, almost everyone he ever knew was murdered, the order he devoted his life to was destroyed and the galaxy he swore to protect descended into tyranny...makes sense he'd be at least a little depressed about it
halfway through the episode I realized "oh yeah this is Alderan. This planet does blow up eventually." which makes the beautiful scenery hurt even more
Just realizing that Little Leia pulled a handmaid bait and switch just like Padme did in episode 1. She is a clever badonkagonk, just like her mother before her.
I think the emotional impact of him digging up the two lightsabers is really understated. He basically buried Anakin and Obi Wan in the desert on the planet when they first met. The pain of seeing both lightsabers at the same time is so overbearing and would take such a strong will to keep going, basically running on nothing but hope. Hope in Luke and Leia.
@joeg6478

At the start of this series, Ben is a man who's spent a decade habitually *biting his tongue/looking the other way* at injustices all around him like the fish worker who got cheated or the young jedi on the run. He hid the fact that he should or even could do anything for so long that he legit became that person. I think digging up the sabers was the first step of him digging out from that mindset to eventually believing in the jedi code again so that his 'Old Ben' persona returns to merely a useful disguise instead of how he truly sees himself

@@joeg6478 but he hadn't used the force in years. He'd quashed all of his abilities. He couldn't even contact the force ghost of Qui Gon, and only tried to use it again to save Leia when she fell. Also, how could Reva "sense" Obi Wan when he was hiding at the spaceport but not when he was hiding in the stable on Tatooine? Not to mention she actually read the mind of Kumail Nanjiani's character in Episode two, but couldn't read the mind of Uncle Owen when she asked him if he knew the whereabouts of any Jedi? Mmmmm, plot holes in abundance.

That recap was GOAT'D! Thanks for showing the shots from the Disney+ remastered shots!
I was horrified by I was Grand Inquisitor’s line “Third Sister! I can stand the reek of your Badonkagonk no longer.” I’m glad the writers allowed her to avenge such a transgression moments later. Even if the Grand Inquisitor is truly dead, thereby retconning the entire first season of Rebels, it is a small price to pay to defend the honor of the Badonkagonk.
The best line of the prequels " Obi-Wan: It's over, Anakin! I have the Badonkagonk! "
Seeing the clones made me think of Obi-Wan telling Jango “your badonkagonk is very impressive, you must be proud”
I think Obi-wan is having trouble communing with Qui-gon because he's suppressed his use of the force for so long out of fear of exposing himself and by extension Luke and this mission for Leia may be what opens him back up to be able too.

I've just spent most of the day admiring the marketing & editing team for holding that Leia card so close to their chest that no-one saw _her_ being the reason Obi-Wan left the planet coming. They played us so well. Credit where credit's due on that.
I really hope we get a flashback to when Maul killed Satine in Clone Wars, then whispered "I'm B-B-B-Badonkagonk to the bone" in Obi-Wan's ear. Gives me chills to this day, Filoni was way ahead of his time
In my head canon, the guard who chased Leia into the woods only to get shot moments later was only days away from early retirement. One of the perks of serving the royal family, he was looking forward to retiring with his family in a small but comfortable home on the shores of some Alderaanian lake. But it was not to be. If he had been a man of Tatooine, he probably would have cried out "Bantha poodoo" in the split second before he received the lethal blaster bolt that would end his life; instead, he only managed to choke out a single strangled cry of "Badonkagonk" as his life slipped away.
Aaron: “is that a gonk droid” Calvin: “it was a repurposed badonkagonk droid”
“WHO GOES THERE,” a mighty voice bellowed, stopping the intruder in their tracks. The stranger stood there silently, the hood of their robe concealing their face. “WHY DO YOU COME TO THE TEMPLE?” the booming voice came again, with no clear physical source. The hooded figure raised a hand, and for a moment, it was as if time stood still. And then, in a flash, lightning arced out of their fingertips, blasting down the doors to the temple. The disembodied voice let out a guttural scream, as if it could feel the pain being caused to the sacred place. And then, silence. A slow cackle began to emerge from under the hood, breaking the stillness. “Meesa come to be the mostest powerful being in the world,” they exclaimed in between hysterical fits of laughter. “Meesa can feel its presence, meesa know it’s here.” Stepping through the rubble of the once proud temple gate, he set his glowing yellow eyes on what he came for. There, in all its glory: the Badonkagonk. Feeling it’s power, the intruder threw back his hood to reveal his wicked smile. Jar Jar knew that with this powerful relic of times past, he could rule galaxy.

My favorite scene in the show so far was when Obi-Wan was riding his “BADONKAGONK” across the desert at night when the Jedi approached him because it showed how disheartened he had become.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Kenobi. As I watched the first two episodes I was fascinated by the fear and hesitations of the once great Jedi. I thought that all was lost. This show should be showing us the true nature of Kenobi. And sure, it’s only the first two episodes, but I wanted to be astounded and amazed. And then there it was. The badonkagonk of Owen Lars. My fears were extinguished instantaneously. This show is now my favorite show of all time, not because of Kenobi, Leia, or the terrifying Darth Vader, but because of one man and his wonderful badonkagonk.
The acting on Ewan McGregor on this series is so good, I also love the direction that they did with this series, it seems like the dark and gritty side of Star Wars, that nightmare sequence that Obi-Wan has on this episode gave me chills, it was so frightening when you see a glimpse of Badonkagong in there, I couldn't believe that they managed to do that, I was trembling so hard! I really hope in the future they will tell us the backstory of it

His friend suddenly spewed his drink all over the bartender and turned to his friend. He exclaimed "YOU DID WHAT TO YOUR GONKS!?!" Loved the review guys.Keep it up.
I can't believe Obi-Wan Kenobi finally came out after all this time. A legendary character finally gets his own show. My favorite part of this episode was when the Grand Inquisitor arrived to Tatooine, and whilst searching for Jedi a mysterious man badonkagonked his way through the town to avoid capture.

Fun fact: the animal that the meat factory workers were harvesting descend from an ancient species that originally lived in the sea when Tatooine was covered in water. Once the oceans dried up, the creatures burrowed deep into the sand and over generations adapted to less and less moisture, until it could survive briefly above ground. While the original name of the species is lost to time, the contemporary residents of Tatooine referred to them as Badonkagonk.

IDK about anyone else but I actually watched that recap at the beginning. As someone who didn’t rewatch the prequels in preparation for this show(had other life stuff I needed to take care of) it actually sets-up a lot emotional struggle Obi-wan faces in this series. Great video as always. Between the new episodes and the Badonkagonk podcast, you guys have given us a lot of Star Wars content! Can’t wait for more
It was a great opening to have all those flashbacks , specially when Obi-Wan said "It was said that you would destroy the Badonkagonk, not join them!". It just hits different when we finally get to see how it all still haunts him.
Omg my husband and I reacted/thought the exact same re: that opening shot of Order 66. Like, my husband literally sort if just spontaneously started crying and I definitely was tearing up and it hit me in by stomach the moment the clones started firing on the kids and their teacher died protecting them…was def NOT prepared for that, especially this week…

Yeah. My friend was shocked. This literally just happened
I'd like the entire Blind Wave Crew to give me a real Badonkagonk.

Who wouldn’t? They’re all fine gentlemen.
"What is this new devilry?" "A Badonkagonk...a demon of the ancient world. This foe is beyond any of you. RUN!"
I can't believe we got to hear Obi-Wan say his historic catch phrase in the first episode "Hello there Badonkagonk" top 10 Star Wars moment.
Oh man, this 1st episode really took me back to when Obi Wan said "Anakin, I have the BADONKAGONK!" What a moment!
Me earlier: I can't wait for Obi-wan!!!! Me seeing the first scene: Oh No.

When I saw that first scene I said “No! Not the younglings!”

I would’ve been on the floor if those young kings ran down a hallway and you just saw a black figure in a cloak ignite a blue lightsaber

@@Laz3rFaz3r I kept looking in the background to see if there was a blue lighsaber fighting another Jedi.
I can't believe Anakin told Obi-Wan you have a great Badonkagonk.
What chills I get when Obi-Wan says..........."Only a Sith deals in BADONKAGONK!" "I will do what I must!"
Padme telling obi wan "There's still badonkagonk in him..." is going to make the reunion with vader so sad.
Great point about the intro scene with the children during Order 66. I couldn't place why I felt the way I did watching it but I think you guys nailed it. With the events in Texas so fresh in my mind, that scene just made me so sad and uncomfortable. More than it probably would normally. Those poor children...
The way they put the scenes of the first 3 movies was so fire it brought back so many memories from watching them as a kid side note Padmé got a Badonkagonk like sheesh🤧
My Badonkagonk was not ready for the PTSD trip that Obiwan had during this series so far, it all makes sense on his nightmares and reliving the past but seeing Disney please my Badonkagonk with the nicely edited flashbacks was nice!
