I just found this lady, & her videos on here and have subscribed. I love the care she takes with the animals to make sure she is gentle and cares more about the safety and wellbeing of the animals than any other shearer I have ever seen, what a pleasant treat! I think she's awesome! I also think the standards that she follows should be the standard, and the norm, rather than the exception. Love, care, and compassion, over profits!! Oh, and I also noticed how well the animals sit/lay for her, and don't mind being handled. What a difference from how I usually see them being handled, where the shearers' are fast, but rough, and leave knicks & cuts all over the poor animal, leaving it traumatized as hell! So, as I said before, the way this lady shears should be the norm & industry standard & not the exception. So once again love, care, & compassion over profits!

I could not imagine wearing a 28 pound jacket everywhere I go. I'm so glad she had you to help her!
@Jaessae
4 күн бұрын
Since it is attached to her and thus well distributed, it is probably bearable. I've worn chainmail (long sleeve, ca 27 pounds), and my husband wears plate armour at events, and that can weigh from 33 to 55 lbs, and that's without all the padding you have to wear underneath to prevent either getting all your tingy hairs ripped out (chainmail) or be a walking hematoma (plate mail). Of course, that doesn't mean it isn't a *huge* relief to shed that massive weight. Even if you are handling the weight and didn't directly consider it as uncomfortable, it is *such* a great feeling taking it off. After putting it on, you quickly get used to it, and only realise how heavy it was again when taking it off. I'd say the *literal* weight off your back, only in this case the "weight" was not really uncomfortable as the phrase usually implies. Like a good pair of trekking boots. They fit well, don't hurt anyway, and support your feet. But at the end of the day, that feeling of taking them off? One of the best feelings in the world.

@PurdueAlum01
Жыл бұрын
So nice and gentle that's a lucky sheep under there. I understand about not wanting second cuts in the wool, but I don't really understand about once the wool is off and collected, why don't they go back and clean up the ridges on the sheep then if they are concerned about the general look of the sheep. I know it's another 4 or 6 minute sheer, but between missing the last year's sheer and having an overweight sheep they know this will be an extra long task from the start...don't they charge a little extra anyway, or at least expect to spend some extra time, right? Maybe make up the difference on KZread? (Not joking but serious....) And that large bag of mats, dirt and oil she mentions...does that get used as wool or whatever or is it too matted and discarded? Just curious... hope she addresses sometime. Love these sheep, sheers and shorts.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the hoof GP it’s that it doesn’t need to be pretty, the only thing that matters to both the animal and the farmer, rancher, dairymen etc is that no matter what you do to an animal, whether it’s taking care of their hooves or shearing their fleece functionality takes priority over looks every time

She didn't look obese at the end. I was surprised by the lack of girth that I expected to see.
@SilverScaleMA
Жыл бұрын
Well, obesity is often a side effect of not shearing sheep. They get too hot if they move too much, especially during the summer, so they move as little as possible. That in turn decreases the tone of muscle which lowers baseline metabolism which means more extra calories go to fat rather than straight to their body's use. Then the more fat they have the more likely to overheat they will be. Essentially not shearing ends up becoming a vicious cycle that eventually ends up with a dead sheep if not corrected, either from overheating or from the various health issues that eventually will happen from the obesity. Just shear the sheep, they are much healthier that way...

Someone said the Creator said the farmer has COVID during shearing season last year. If you don't know the situation like you claim, I feel like you shouldn't be putting out negative thoughts in the first place. You're going to influence others thoughts and judgements just by adding it in, whether or not you put a "disclaimer" in the front. Just a thought. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm just sharing what it seems to be like from someone reading this on the outside.

@@ElysetheEevee I mean, COVID or not that sheep was still suffering... Or at least in discomfort. It's not fair to just say "well the owner was sick so they neglected their herd, what we gonna do 'bout it". I think raising awareness to the dangers of obesity and overgrowth will instead lead to trying to find more solutions to help alleviate that pain. If I'm sick and i can't take care of my animals, I'm gonna ask people to help you know? I doubt that a professional will look at that poor sheep and go "no money no sheering, let's just watch that sheep suffer because you can't afford to get help". And if they did then I just lost a bit of hope in humanity...

@Jaessae

@SilverScaleMA

"Shes never missed a meal" 😭
Lint covered meatball sums her up so precisely😂😂❤❤
I love watching you, you're so lovely with the sheep and you have a kind soothing voice ❤
I never get over how much you care for the animals. Remarking on how the weight of the fleece was pulling on her skin, keeping her in a good position while you sheer, and going for efficacy over looks. The thoughtfulness radiates out of you at all times. 🤩
I just love watching your work. So satisfying ❤
Always like watching a pro work. Hope you've got a apprentice or two.
Your videos relax me. Thankyou for doing what you do.🐑
"This lint covered meatball" ... I cannot stop laughing!
God Bless this lady, for what she does.
You are awesome lady I am so so proud of you and your energy
I love how calm the sheep are when you do this

IKR?! I was waiting for the sheep to bite her armpit but it was just as snug as a bug in a rug! 😊
I love how you are so concerned about the sheep, and not cutting the skin with the blades of the razor! Thank you! 🙏
Holy smokes! I give you and your wife a ton of credit. I work outside in New England all year long and I wouldn’t trade a 100 degree hot August day with you to do that. Godspeed!
You are amazing at you work !
That's exactly how much I gained during my pregnancy 😅😅 I suppose I can go around telling people I missed a shearing and it'll be ok 😬😅
