Will the OBD MX+ work on multiple vehicles. My friend purchased the obd mx+ and used it one time and sold the car and now wants to sell the obd mx+ to me. Will I be able to use it on my vehicles when needed or is it "married" to him and his vehicle ?

You are able to use it on any vehicle. For example, I use mine on GM, Honda, Toyota, Ford and Fiat. So a healthy combination of domestic and foreign.

Not that I’m aware of even though it’s connected (Bluetooth) to your phone. The OBD2 sensor only works when the car ignition is on - such as auxiliary or fully running. So, given the ignition has to be on, I would imagine it’s not possible to act as a remote starter. However, I would be interested to hear from others if they found a workaround that I’m not thinking of.

not so easy. I noticed you did not mention which system you were using or what computer to pair too. I have the lx model and it will not connect to anything other than its own software and only using andriod operating system. will not work with windows 10 or 11 tried on several computers. will not stay paired and times out. Did you buy these? is this some promotion?

Hey .. I have this tool, I do a job where it requires me to go see private vehicles and I use a obd tools to read the diagnostics of the vehicles before purchase .. this one is new to me but it seems to come up as no codes for all vehicles when I run the diagnostics on my iPad (obd mx) does this tool allow to run different makes on it? Seems to be you have to download a vehicle on the app to run a proper diagnostics ? Does this make sense? If you could add some input ? Their support team seems to be difficult to reach ..

Hello... I think the issue you're running into is the OBDLink MX is discontinued. So, it may not be supported anymore - at least, that is my assumption. I'm not sure if the MX+ (the one that I use) replaced both the MX Bluetooth and Wifi models. As for downloads, nothing is needed unless you wanted a 3rd party app or plug in that is not offered by OBDLink. Otherwise, all the OBDLINK tools are plug and play. I'm sure you've already looked at their website for added information www.obdlink.com/products/ - I reached out once and found them to be attentive. Hopefully this sheds a bit of light on your situation, though it's likely the model you stated (obd mx) is non functional because it's discontinued.

Sorry - my mistake on the interpretation of the model you were using. I personally really like the MX+. When you hit the pair button and accept the MX+ link on your iPad - does it come up with a firmware update? Or at the very least, is it displaying (under settings) the vehicle information, such as VIN, Year, Make, Model. I'm just trying to sense if it's identifying the vehicle it plugged into.

It sounds like the initial startup is working properly since it recognizes the vehicle. Is it possible the car(s) really don’t have any codes to report or are dashboard lights on which the OBDLINK won’t read?
