I will never forget, one of the times this show made an impact on myself. In 2007, during my last high school summer vacation, I was at a seaside resort town, with my friends. One of the nights there, all of my buddies, decided to go out and party, but I decided to stay in. I was on the balcony, smoking a cigarette. I just wanted to feel the ambiance, of a seaside town on a summer night. The TV in the room behind me was still turned on, as before my friends went out, we watched an episode of X-Men TAS on Jetix. I suddenly heard the opening of Oban, and it just fit the mood perfectly. Since then, the song just evokes feelings of strength, optimism and nostalgia in me, everytime. Although, I am still waiting for 'My Chance To Shine', I am still very close to all of the people I spent that summer with. So, I guess it's not that bad 🙂🙂🙂

15 years and I can’t forget it. This is the first anime that made me appreciate openings and probably one of reasons why I love animes to this day.

Damn... I remember watching the Danish dub of this series ages ago, using the Japanese opening. This OP just hits me with nostalgic feelings. Hope we can get a sequel story/spin-off with the familiar cast returning

I remember rushing home from school every day here in Sweden just to watch this show, of course in Swedish dub. I have looked for years but I can't find the Swedish dub which is sad since that's what I grew up with, I'm guessing you're in the same situation.

same here the opening and ending were japanese but the series was arabic dubbed:^)

2006-2007-2008 are the years with most of my favorite anime as oban, Nana, Death Note, Eureka Seven, Code geass and many more. Great story, great characters design, very good visual quality, even today.

the first japanese opening i've ever heard (i had only watched dubbed versions before that) and it stuck so hard with me the ending song too it's incredible

Rewatched this after all these years and... Ah, it was a good ride. We used to have shows that are actually interesting. Such an amazing work

The amount of soul in this absolutely astonishing and goddamn I want to go back to when I first saw this SO bad.

First time I heard this theme was as a DVD ad for the shows release on DVD when I was a kid, finally found the show on a different site after a decade plus a few years and wanted to come here and listen to this amazing theme again

I still remember oban Star races for a long time and I still got the DVDs of it

It was shows like Oban that made me want to major in cinema in college, if I ever get to adapt this to the silver screen I’m using this song in a scene of the Aero-2 flying up towards the sky

I feel so sorry for North America. They didn't get an intro that perfectly fit the emotional journey of the show like we in the UK and Japan did. This was just undeniably better. Yoko Kanno was an excellent choice by the creative director.

@@boomboxradio2414 You guys are French Canadian so that makes sense since this was made in France. I saw it while visiting a foreign country so I got to see the theme song as an American.

My brother didn't remeber the name who got this off the mc description. It was only after i saw the poster that i remembered. I loved this but can't remember the plot but i loved it to the point of recognizing the song beat and humming with it. Will probably rewatch it soon.

It was this theme when it aired in England absolutely loved it

Ive been looking for this for like 8 years i used to watch it on tv as a kid definitely going to watch it again !!

I had a feeling the guys who made this loved playing the star wars pod racing games as I did as a kid!

Was my first anime and I didn’t even know what anime was yet.

Watched this as a kid at my cousins when I was like six years old (Turning 20 this year) and never again. The other day a heard a anime melody sounding similar to the one in this into and suddenly all the memories came back from the thew times I watched this show. When I searched for the anime, I could barely recognize the characters, If it was not for my faint memory of the intro melody I would not have believed I have ever even seen this show. Just shows how much your image of something changes over time.

I rewatched after 12 years, and this show as good as it used to be.

Now I feel the same burst of excitement when i used hear this on my TV screen and shout it loud till my mom used to hit me and now I feel the nostalgia for the time miss

I remember I used to be in love with previous dude who used to race before Eva the dude with the long hair and the red tattoo. What I know is that I had a type since I was a kid

What i like about oban is not everything you fight for has the prize you wish for and talks about family rejection

Because the French did the CGI work in this, not Japanese studios and the French have considered ahead of the game around this time in CG work in animation.
