What a waste of taxpayer money. The only winners are the attorneys with huge fees, for this legal battle. They could have used "Oakland airport at San Francisco Bay", which is more clear and satisfies both sides.

As if Oakland doesn't have enough problems to deal with, they want to pick a legal fight with San Francisco??? Incompetence leads to more incompetence. What a sad state of affairs.

No, when people say Chicago, I think OHARE not Midway. When people say Houston I think Intercontinental not Hobby. When people say Dallas, I think DFW not Love Field. When people say New York I think JFK not Newark or LaGuardia or even ISLIP. When people say Los Angeles, they mean LAX. If they mean Burbank they'll say Burbank or Bob Hope. If they mean Ontario, they'll say Ontario, if they mean Orange County, they'll say John Wayne. And yes, these are all LAX World Airports but they are NOT all Los Angeles. They are respective to their own cities. OAKLAND IS NOT SAN FRANCISCO as much as it desperately wants to be. IT NEVER WILL BE.

Oakland wants to be the anchor baby of San Francisco to attract traveler and tourist. The area near by Oakland Airport is a war zone. 😅

Geezus, pretending like it's the "San Francisco Bay" that people want to go to when traveling into SFO. The fact that the officials voted on this even after San Francisco saying "we'll sue you if you do" and they still do it. So remember Oakland the next time you get a ticket and it costs more than you remember, or that there's less city services, it's because these supervisors decided to be defiant and now they need to pay for a lawsuit.

The name “San Francisco” is trade marked. It was trade marked for this very reason, so that other airports can’t just decide one day that they too want to be called San Francisco. It doesn’t matter if the airport is directly located in S.F. or not.

It is not going to increase travelers or change the criminal reality of Oakland. People from out of the country could mistakenly book a fllight to SF, but end up clicking on SF Bay Are instead. All the sudden they are a victim of armed robbery or something while trying to flee a place they wanted to intentionally avoided at all costs. Boon to local criminals if it actually works. Good news is that the name change won't do anything .
