NYC Plane Spotting • LaGuardia & JFK • Queens, NY • 9/9/2023

This episode is a collection of airplanes taking off and heading in for landings from different vantage points at LaGuardia and JFK Airports, both located in Queens, NY. I’m always seeing them go by when I’m out doing things, so why not get a little closer and document some action? Plus, I love planes. Oddly enough, there aren’t a whole lot of really up close locations to see them actually take off or land if you’re not inside the actual airports, but I found a good variety of viewpoints. Some being really great, others a little distant, but all offering interesting shots for this compilation. I went two different days and of course it was cloudy and humid with a slight drizzle both times, since this whole summer has been pretty much the same way. More cloudy hot days than I can even remember. Weird weather.
First, we see a variety of planes coming and going at LaGuardia Airport, located in East Elmhurst, Queens, which is all domestic flights. The areas I was looking from are the Worlds Fair Marina Boardwalk in Flushing, Hermon Macneil Park in College Point and a few from Planeview Park right across from Runway 4 next to Grand Central Parkway. This last one is an excellent location, but for some reason very few went by while I was there and then they stopped altogether. So, I plan to go back and make a video of just that park since it’s an ideal spot to see planes really close.
Then out in Jamaica, Queens for the JFK planes, I went to several locations, but my favorite was definitely Brookline Park in Rosedale, Queens. There were nonstop incoming flights from everywhere you could imagine, since JFK is an international airport. They come in really low too, which is awesome to see and feel the thunderous roar overhead. I found a few spots like Inwood Park to see takeoffs, but they were too far away, so most of my footage is of incoming flights at Brookline and around that neighborhood. I did also, wander into some airport cargo companies and other businesses parking lots to see some up close planes taxiing by to the launch strip. So that was cool.
Overall it was a good time watching the iron birds flying around. Enjoy!

Wow! I've never seen so many planes at once. It's very interesting & I love how you can see the airline on the planes; they're that close up!! Great job of filming them. The live birds are cool also:)🦢🦆

Nope, not, uh-uh no flying for me, but I enjoyed watching them. Don't think I'd like living under the path of them either, even tho I like hearing them. Nice shots Paul.

Haha…flying is definitely nerve wracking. My first flight ever was from NYC to Hawaii and that was 12 hours. 😬

@@paulsportal1720 No way, I flew once from northern CA to southern CA, an hour each way. It was enough for me.
