Tunnels a hotbed for riff raff and late night crime. From an implementation standpoint, one of the issues is that the rail cart entry/exit ports weren’t designed for a guided-guard system but more so an open-port way format.

There should be signs on the barriers that say “Stand Back” or similar

You should see the Elizabeth Line in London all underground tunnel stations have glass walls and glass doors it stops drafts and any issues.

They should put some cameras all the way for safety

them barriers wont stop nothing, the whole subway system need modernising to standards of the hi tech other citys use, but the MTA only care about making as much as possible with no serious investment, yet again money money money

The new barriers are cool hopefully they will continue to serve their purpose and keep people safe and the new gates are nice but people need to pay for their tickets. Thank you Sifat for sharing this video.

It's hard for IND and BMT lines until they use same car fleets. I also think Pelham Line in Bronx, IRT 7 train, canaries L line, G train can work.

That lengthy passage tunnel is certainly an oddity. Kudos to those who have to walk through it every day and night. Patrol officers monitering it wouldn"t hurt. I think those platform safety gates are a step in the right direction. Thanks for exploring this for us.😀

Hahaha. Yeah I don't know about using that as a shelter. Barriers look poorly thought out. Don't like the corners on those barriers, looks like they can cause injury if someone gets shoved into it. Also if the train doesn't line up, then what, people get pushed into them, or if they're in a wheelchair they can't get off the train?

Thanks a lot for this video. I'm afraid it's laughable. If NYC really wants to prevent crime, they have to mobilize some ressources such as more staff in the subway or better quality barriers like in Paris. It's a good start but really not enough.
