I saw Scotty live in Nashville in 2018. My grandfather had just died the month before, and I had never heard this song before. By the time he finished performing it I was sobbing. It was a combination of sad tears for my grandfathers death, and happy tears for hearing a song that I resonated with so deeply. Thank you so much for your reaction! ❤️

Lysi, you have yourself a good man. His immediate reaction to you shows his love for you. Great reaction guys. This song accomplished what it was written for. It brought about reflection of moments in ones life. If a song write can get emotion of someone from their song then they have done their job.

I'm right there with you guys. I'm about to be 43, met my wife in high school, my boys be 18 and 21 this year, I've lost both my parents over the last 12 years, lost my Grandmother a few months ago, all the great memories are in the past. I listen to this song from time to time and each time I wish I had five more minutes more and more. Songs and lyrics defiantly hit harder with each passing day. Hold onto the good times and the great memories because at the end of the day it's all we have. Great real raw emotional reaction.

Y’all may be Yankees but I am inducting you guys into the honorary southerner family. After your rendition of The Way I Talk I knew it then! And when your eyes and ears (and hearts) have been opened to the beauty of country music, you just can’t escape it. When you know you know! As the scripture states “my cup runneth over.” That’s how country music (and music in general) fills my heart with joy. And Lysi, no need to explain. I was just as close to my grandad and no other music nails those feelings as perfectly as Country. Btw, Scotty has been and still is with his wife for all this time. Matter of fact, not sure if y’all know but Scotty was an American Idol. He was like 15 and he was dating the same girl then. Like I said, when you know, you know. ♥️ Great reaction!

I lost both grandparents recently not a year apart from each other. There are times where I can hear a song on the radio and just breakdown crying on the side of the road. I pray you find comfort in the fact that they are in a better place and no longer have to live in this uncertainty we are living in now. As I say that I understand the desire to be with them again even if it is just in a dream.

I truly understand how Lysi feels and like so many of us around the world, we can all relate to her. Me especially.. My Grandad, Bob Martin was such a huge influence on my life. He’s a big reason behind my love for aviation, as he served in the RAF, serving a Vulcan Crew Chief on the famous 617 Squadron (Dambusters) from 1974 - 1982 and then afterwards, he emigrated to the U.S. with Nana Sara from Louisville, Kentucky. Grandad also gave me the undying love I have for the U.S., country music, and the aspiration to emigrate to the U.S. to follow my heart and my path to be a musician in Nashville and live a happy life in the U.S. and have a family of my own. He wanted to help me out with the emigration process, but he got too ill and very sadly he passed away in January 2022 after a long battle with cancer. 😢😢😢😢 Two years on since his passing, and it doesn’t get any easier, I miss him every single day and this song tugs at my heart strings.. thinking of him… It hurts even more because when he was alive, I never got to see him as much as I wanted to, because he lived in the U.S. while I’m living in the UK. Now, I’ve got a cousin in Florida who’s battling cancer (Stage 4 Melanoma) and I know she’s a tough lady and she’s a true fighter, but knowing this just makes me wanna leave the UK for good even more and see cousin Stacy as I haven’t seen her in 16 years, and really wanna see her again while she’s here fighting!!! God Bless America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I think most people here love to see honest reactions like yours. I know that I do. So, great job on keeping it real. I am sorry that you lost your Grandpa. I also have fond memories of my Grandpa. If this song doesn't get you in the feels at some point, it's because you have no heart. Sorry to hear about Lysi's grandpa. I've lost all my grandparents and I know exactly how hard it is. She has my deepest sympathies.

The song "I Still Miss You" by Keith Anderson came out in January of 2008. Never heard it until I lost the woman I loved in April of that same year. After that it seemed I heard that song every time I turned on the radio. Made me cry every time so I know how you felt when he got to the part about his grandfather.

I lost my grandpa in 2020 to COVID, and at the same time had to deal with the loss of my daughter to a miscarriage, i think back to the time I saw her heartbeat for the first time and Ive never felt so much love, that would be the moment i wish I had just five more minutes in, and wishing I got to give my grandpa a proper goodbye, but he died as i boarded my flight home so I never got to see him.

I'm pretty sure I was the one who said the American Idol thing, but he did win season 10 of Idol and he's just gotten better every single time. He never makes a bad song. The girl in the video is in fact his wife, who he's known since Kindergarten. They got married in 2018 and are still married and have a baby boy together. He's just now starting to write songs that incorporate his baby in them as well. Some really good Scotty songs for you to eventually try out would be 1. The trouble with girls (one of his first songs and his wife is in it) She wasn't his wife then though. 2.Small town girl 3. It matters to her 4. Damn Strait (talkin' about George Strait who is another country singer and the fact of him being a fan of him growing up before he made it big 5. The Waiter (emotional and will make you cry) 6. In between 7. Why you gotta be like that 8 You time

About a month ago I was on leave going between commands and went home to be with my family for a bit. My thirteen year old bird dog Maggie May was having a lot of health issues and it hurt to see her being so uncomfortable. This hurt a lot because she'd been there since I was eleven, raised her from a pup that my cousin's dog whelped, and went through every significant event in my life since then with her there. It hurt us so much to have to put her to sleep and then only a week later I had to leave my childhood home for perhaps the last time. First song I heard on the radio pulling away from home was this.

Girl, it’s okay. As a male, I loved my grandfather as much as life it’s self. The day he died broke me mentally. He died coming up the stairs at my childhood home, because my dad asked him to take a step back as he came in from cooking steak on the barbecue. My grandfather who seemed bigger than life fell backwards and slammed his head off a concrete wall. It took me years to get over this as I was out of town at a wedding as this all took place
