This is one of the roughest things about losing a loved one. All it takes is a word, phrase or memory and the tears start flowing. I cry at least once a night watching KZread reactions

Tim wrote this song about his Dad “Tug McGraw” baseball player. Sending you a virtual hug. It never is easy losing a loved one.

This is incorrect. The song was written by Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman. But Tim fell in love with it given what happened to Tug.

@@shedoos For the most part you're correct. When the song was presented to Tim to record, some of the lines were rewritten to Tim's situation, ie: "I went 3 times that year I lost my Dad"

This song was not written by Tim as some have posted below. It was written by Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman (the latter who also co-wrote "Believe" by Brooks and Dunn). "Live Like You Were Dying" was not written about any one specific person - the two tunesmiths penned it after thinking of several friends of theirs and family members who had died 'before their time' as some like to say because of a sudden or lengthy illness like cancer. As happens with music demos, it gets sent to several artists to see if they like it or not. Well, it was sent to Tim shortly after his father - MLB pitcher Tug McGraw was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in March of 2003. Tug died on January 5th, 2004 - and Tim, who had already decided to record it - did so just about a week after his father passed. (Sources: Songfacts, Wikipedia)

Wow! This is the very content reaction viewers are craving. Real people, reactions to real music and sharing real emotions. I'm commenting as someone who is dreading the 30th anniversary of my dad passing in a few months. His influence in my life is more powerful now, yet I've now lived much longer without him, than with him in my life. I promise you with every tear I have cried, your dad is beyond proud of what you are doing. In the least expected moments, a situation will have his fingerprints all over it and you will know. I wish you a beautiful and sacred grieving process. The angel sitting next to you has got your back and is feeling your pain with you. When you are feeling ready, I'd love to hear you occasionally react to your dad's favorite songs, like little tributes to your dad on your channel. Sending all the good vibes and understanding hugs as you navigate this sweet and tender journey. 💜💜💜

I'm so sorry for your loss! Losing your Dad is super hard. This song came out in 2004, I'd been diagnosed with breast cancer & was in my early 40s. My sister heard this song & called me, she said you've got to listen. I did and still cry every time I hear it. I was blessed & have been cancer free for almost 20 years. Praying for you & your family.

I'll be 68 in 5 days and I lost both my folks and my oldest son 30 years ago. That was the third son I'd lost. And certain songs will bring tears from me every single time all these years later. You never get over it. But there will come a time when you can talk to friends about them with smiles instead of tears in your eyes.

When you get the kind of news in this song ... your perspective on life changes. A good friend of mine passed six months ago, she was simply the kindest person I've ever known. She fought 14 different cancers ... yes you're reading the correctly ... for five years and never complained. We were both told we had serious illnesses within two weeks of each other. Her first known cancer was deemed to be gone and only months later they found all the others. My situation was / is different. I'm 64 and won't likely see 70 (I'm not sure I make 65). It was freeing to learn that some things that had been happening had a reason. It is also freeing to know I can do what I want and to hell with the people who judge me. So to all who see this ... take this song to heart ... Live Like You Are Dying - because every single one of you are dying, every second of every day you are one second closer ... so stop doing the unimportant things and LIVE!

To this day, I'm wondering if it were Faith and Tim...sure looked like them. I believe that they're that kind of people...wish I knew for sure, but inthe end it doesn't matter. Just know I gained a bit of faith in humanity that night....a rare occurrence.

I know how it feels to lose my parents. I lost my dad December 2nd and my mom December 23rd both 2016. It still hurts to this day.

I’m so sorry you lost your parents Nicole. I did, as well, in 2012. I miss them so much. I have absolutely no doubt that I’ll see them after I pass on and I take great comfort in that. I have many awesome valid reasons that have caused me to believe that so maybe you can feel comforted if you remind yourself of that. 👍💕
