Wanted to add in another comment, one of my friends introduced me to pour over coffee… buy bags of beans from local shops and grind them the night before, takes like 3 dedicated minutes, but it’s so worth it. I couldn’t drink black coffee until I started buying beans from local roasters and doing pour over.

Curious how you are taking BSN classes online if you haven’t yet finished your ADN? Don’t you have to be completely done and graduated. Anyways just curious 😊

@@dee27206 no, not in the state I live at least. I'm in an RN to BSN program, the only stipulation is u need to have an active RN license to graduate from this program. I am finishing my ADN this spring, will take the nclex soon thereafter, and then finish my bachelors classes and graduate with BSN in the winter. Other states may have different rules regarding this sort of thing, but in the state I live this is acceptable to the board of nursing.

I love your weeks in the life. I am a new grad in the OR and the part about “giving a compliment” really rings with me. Today they had me follow a patient from preop to discharge and it makes you really appreciate the people you don’t see, I may not be doing their job but it makes me appreciate all the stuff I take for granted. Also the pressure change thing is real, I’m from California and now live in the south, weather is pretty much always the same where I’m from, and one day it was 70 in the morning and then dropped to 40 (it was also cold the day before) and I was fine doing some computer stuff and then went into my first case and I was like “man, I got the worst headache, like behind my eyes, feel sick” barely made it through, ran out after it was finished and threw up, but I could not go home, no PTO yet, my work has a full employee clinic and I got a shot of tornadol and made it to a “leave early” like I’m okay with leaving now and losing 30 minutes-hour. Also how is the RN-BSN program? I was recommended not to do one until I feel comfortable in the OR. Also… they just added charting to my load… makes things harder for sure. Like I can probably circulate a robotic gallbladder almost all by myself, probably fumble through scrubbing it too, but charting, counting, meds, getting the patient positioned and asleep and completing almost the entire perioperative chart in ~30 minutes is hard!

Give yourself grace and patience. It is going to be overwhelming at first but it will get better time goes on. Be proud of how far you have come and don’t forget the reason you wanted to become a nurse in the first place. Most importantly don’t let what you see or experience harden you. Remain true to yourself through it all🤍

nope not quitting, will continue to work full time as a school nurse, PRN LDRP for the rest of the school year and then pick up more weekly shifts in the summer!

Still will be full time at the school and working LDRP PRN until the end of the school year and then over the summer I will be picking up more regular shifts on LDRP:)

I'm starting nursing from being a vet tech so I don't have any experience. Do you think that having nothing but your license on your resume is enough?
