Nuno strikes me as a guy who goes into the studio, records 2 passes of a song and the engineers are like, "Thanks Nuno, we have everything we need". The guy is SO ridiculously talented. His groove, timing, style, control.....Incredible.

This man is really my favorite guitarist for a long time. He's the perfect combination with the killer riffs from Jimmy Page, the wild sound from Jimi Hendrix, the melodic and the dramatic vibratos like Brian May and the virtuosity from Eddy Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen. Nuno really created a style of rock, mixing funk, groove, pop and heavy metal. And what a great composer, singer, showman... come on. He's really the greatest! What a nice dude too.

Becker wrote immortal music. Bettencourt stands higher than Gilbert in my book, but that's not enough to come among the very top guys.

I think it's probably because of the peers he came to notoriety around. Paul Gilbert made a name for himself in Racer X. Everyone in that band was at least of equal caliber and they wrote music that showed that off. Jason Becker started with Marty Friedman making music where they both showed their skills fully. Nuno gained fame in Extreme who came around during the hair metal era so they got lumped into that category. The guys in Extreme were talented but they weren't Jason Becker or Scott Travis level. Jason Becker would have known no boundaries to his skill level had his ability to play not been taken away.

You, sir are incorrect. He's the real deal. I just watched him on Life in Six Strings with Kylie Olsson. Music is in his DNA. 10 siblings all musicians growing up poor in a small house filled with every instrument you could think of. The wide age range meant they were all into different genres and he played all genres from a young age. The real deal.😮

he is known and has been since early 90's. I live in a rural town in eastern Canada and they were huge even here., every musician knows Nuno, Extreme has was really bug even back then. "More than words"? a major hit,"get the fink out" etc etc

Unless you are a guitar head, Nuno is one of the most underrated guitarists out there.

I started playing in 94 and never gave it a thought to hear Nuno because I never got into Extreme. I had/have the taste (or lack thereof) of a heavier sound. I have my heroes on the totem pole and Nuno has found his way there for me. Underrated? Absolutely.

Anyone that grew up listening to Extreme and pinpoint Nuno’s sound in an instant. It’s very unique

His right hand palm muting and clarity is off the chain! Little Distortion,heavy compression,and a whole lotta talent makes this guy a guitar god!

Yngwie, Govan, Bettencourt, Gilbert, Romeo, Tolki. All of them have amazing control over the guitar, is just unvelibable.

❤ A huge fan of Nuno! At a loss for words for his magnificent talent. And boy, o boy, why is he so good looking?

hes a total beast...his acoustic playing is phenomenal his lead and rhythm playing are obscenely good...he can sing...AND hes so humble and chill in his teaching/interviews....and he can knock the snot out of the overhyped "gods" of guitar....truly remarkable

There was a concert. Winger, Extreme, Tangier, and Ban Tango. I drove 3 hours to see Nuno Bettencourt. WORTH EVERY PENNY.

That playing is mind blowing. What the best are doing for a solo, Nuno is doing that stuff for half of the song.

This is probably my favorite moment of Generation Axe and of course some of Vai.

I remember going to see Bill & Ted at the theater and then the mall scene erupted with this song. I went straight to the local Record Bar and bought Extreme and the soundtrack. Have been a fan of Nuno ever since.

As a guitarist myself I am always amazed how awesome real pros are.

He so underrated , he is a monster

He has been an absolute beast his entire career, I remember back in the 90's when he would melt your face off.

It's like I'm listening to the studio recording. If I didn't witness his had movements I'd call it a backing track. There's pros, legends, then people like this. Absolutely perfect.

Nuno rules, total command of the instrument! And, look at that wall of Marshalls! Sweet.

Nuno is one of my favourite one! that technical skills are well known ,but always his guitar position amazes me..

First heard Extreme on Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Found out who Nuno was and bought the album. So good!

All of the ghost notes and percussive intricacies are mind blowing. People always focus on guys like Nuno's lead playing but it's his sense of timing and rythym that make him and those like him who they are. As the saying goes "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing".

There are not any ghost notes or percussive tricks. The massive amounts of delay is fooling your ear. There is much less going on than it sounds like. Check out how it sounds with no delay: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aHqar5moqJOcntI.html.

I met Nuno in the early 90’s, I have to say he was such a nice genuine guy all around. Talked with us for around 20 minutes, still have his autograph to this day. Never forget that moment 🤘🏼

This guy is so good and so underated... A lot of people don't even know how good he is...

Underrated by who?

He did gave ego issues in the nineties when he was younger. He has obviously realized the errors in his ways and now, he's one of the most approachable musicians out there. Check out his interviews on Rick Beatto's channel. Nuno gets it now.

My childhood shredding hero. Still amazed with his skills.

Every time i see him play, I get reminded how crazy good he is. Wow.

As a musician for many years myself never in conversation does any guitarist ever mention Nuno, except for me. truly one of the greatest guitarists and a really awesome dude on top of it.

@@hazardeur obscure band and he's not around anymore. :-( I loves me some 'Tage, but I gotta agree that Nuno is the most gifted rock guitarist on plant Earth today. I've been fortunate enough to see pretty much all of the legends in concert, (Van Halen, Beach, Lynch, Malmsteen, Petrucci, Dimbag, Lee, etc) and no one can touch Nuno. I'm not even a fan of his band's tunes, but his talent is undeniable. Have you had a chance to see him live? If not, I highly recommend it. Cheers!

I love how he is kinda cocky but super humble. That and he's amazing. Love you Nuno!

It always wows me when a player has the stage presence to match their technical prowess. Making his craft look easy while engaging the audience is such a skill in itself

Nuno has always been one of my favorite guitarist. His sound and energy are all his own.

Nuno has always been a favorite. You always heard about Vai and Satriani and Gilbert but this guy was always playing at their level and not getting talked about at all. Probably the main, if only, reason I listened to Extreme not to knock them in any kind of way.

Beautiful, amazing Nuno. He's like, ridiculously perfect: A gorgeous man, a great singer and overall, an incredibly gifted musician who happens to be a hell of a guitar player.

Stopped by to pick through randomly. Stayed for the whole thing.

I saw this tour, and Nuno was my favorite. Very personable, and hilarious, and didn't have a problem sharing the stage with the other musicians.

I was there too,one hell of a concert.

It’s easy to see that he loves what he’s doing and his passion penetrates his audience. The best of the best share that singular quality. It’s all music to him. There are guys that shred and the blistering speed is all they’ve got. This guy has it, but only pops when the music demands it - never just for the sake of shredding, alone. As it should be.

Three sides to every story was (when I was 11) & still is (I'm 39) the most relevant album in my life. So underated. They broke up when I was a kid but I had the pleasure of seeing them in Birmingham awhile back & let me tell you, I was so grateful for it

I love telling people who do not understand the complexity of composition this.

Didn't know much about how to appreciate guitar sounds n skills back in the day when i was still a small kid, but just something about Nuno that always enchanted me and I guess I know now that's why!

There he is. The perfect man. >Beautiful face and hair into his middle age >Creative, artistic, and technically skilled beyond most people's dreams >insanely rich >funny, cool and even temperament Name anybody who comes close.

His music writing skills are just as impressive. He really is a modern Beethoven.

Mostly because a lot of the songs he played in were cheesy and awful... but with great solos and styling. Extreme were good musicians but bad song writers.

I always see that on youtube and laugh as well. The dude's sold millions of albums, toured with some of the best in the business, sells out every night. Say his name and every guitarist knows it and shakes their head in awe. How's he underrated? :D

Abrar Jahin Nafi maybe he is, but there was a show called Bands Reunited (they play one last show) and I watched every episode and he was the only person to never even let the camera film him. All of the other members were yea, it would be fun, but he wouldn t even talk to the host. So something is weird there

@@chadhero37 Take this for what it is. I used to work at Washburn during the Nuno days. While I did not ever meet him personally the word around the factory was that he was an arrogant jerk. I can neither confirm or deny those statements but it was stated by several who did know him. But who knows. Maybe they were simply jealous?

That's the way, Nuno, you've earned your place with the kings.
