    Thank you for posting this. I am planning to get the Tubliss system and wanted to use the slime method.

    Just as a reminder, you should always install starting away from the bead lock and remove starting with the bead lock. You did it backwards and it made tire installation more difficult that it should have been.

    Good video! Silicon spray works excellent instead of the armorall or slime for the bladder. I have mounted over a dozen sets of tubliss for myself and all my buddies and changed dozens and dozens of tires with the tubliss system using nothing but generic silicon spray on the inner bladder and soapy water to seat the bead. I have also used the silicon spray to seat the bead without soapy water and that works as well. I like to put some slime inside the low pressure area to help with small punctures but like you said just carry a set of regular old tire plugs and a small bicycle pump on the trail and you will never have an issue with flats. I also always recommend using a rounded spoon style tire iron instead of the square edge irons.

    Any pros or cons to adding a very small amount of slime or Stan’s sealant to the high-pressure bladder to keep that from losing pressure over time?

  • @SkinnySkinch

    @@olivierhecht8022 so in my experience that slime gets into the valve stem and it will ruin every single one of your pressure gauges that you ever put on that inner bladder again. Every time you push your pressure gauge on the valve a bit of slime shoots into your gauge. Rubber isn't 100% air tight so it will leak over time. I have my air compressor on in my garage at all times I let me bike sit for a few weeks I'll just put 100PSI in before I load my bike up. If you ride every day you won't need to fill it up daily. If you ride once a month then just fill it up before each ride problem solved no slime needed.

    About to install on my 3rd bike, love the system & thanks for the how-to refresher. I once hit a rock so hard with the Tubliss front I thought, well that's that all done for...nope, the system held up just fine which is more than my filings did!

    Excellent video and saved my ass. I tried the factory recommended method using a silicone spray & soapy water and air just pissed out everywhere including the inner tube valve hole and various spoke nipples. After watching your video, I went the Slime method 100% for everything and it worked perfectly. The pity is now I have jus realised I put my unidirectional D606 on backwards on my CRF 300L front rim :) At least I now have confidence that I have a proven install method, thank you!

    I went back to Tubliss after trying Mousse. Too heavy and dead feeling. Didn’t like them at all. Messed up suspension as well. Used Slime and Tubliss and really like the feel. Noticed an immediate lighter quicker feeling. I do put 10-12 in front as lower pressures feel mushy to me but rear at 5 is epic. Thanks for posting.

    Awesome, I feel the same. Tubliss just feels so much better to me, especially in a light bike like this 200, it keeps it feeling nimble. Thanks for commenting.

    I also love tubliss, but now I bought a second set of wheels for racing and while I dont want to, I think I have to go mousses for race application - esp. when going abroad for a race for a few days it would make me completely mad if I had to quit due to inner bladder failure - which btw happened to me 2x in 5 yrs Im using them.

    Isn’t this just replacing the tube with another tube. Couldn’t a long nail,object etc still flatten the bladder?

    23:50 I'm guessing less sealant would come out if you first filled the high-pressure chamber to set the tire bead, then deflate high-pressure and the tire bead should stay in place. Add sealant in and bounce around while rotating tire (I didn't see this step in your video).

  • @TepcoCycleRepair

    @TepcoCycleRepair

    The spin and bounce is when you use soap and water to help the seal between the blatter and tire. Using the Slim as a mounting lube you don't need to do that, just like if you used a tire paste lube. The slime that came out at 23:50 was just the slime that was painted on the tire bead to assist with mounting.

    @@TepcoCycleRepair In the instructions, the bounce method is used with slime when doing a system reset. But, I guess you don't need to because you already coated the liner with sealant. I'm just worried about runny sealant that may no longer be in place after spooning on the tire so I think I'll just perform the reset anyways to ensure full coverage. Instructions say "If it is necessary to "RESET" the system after the sealant is IN the tire, deflate the bladder, and bounce the wheel on the ground while rotating it.".

  • @TepcoCycleRepair

    @@danpluso Yes definitely when resetting. If the tire doesn't hold air you would need to reset. When I was inflating the tire all the sealant would be settling at the bottom, so no real issue. This particular one in the video is still sealed perfectly. (It is time for a new tire now)

    Install these last night and for some reason I’m leaking air around the valve stem of the low pressure side. The high-pressure side stays inflated but for some reason there’s air leaking around the rim lock/low pressure valve

    If you torqued it to spec I would just pull it off and reset it. If not just torque it first.

    Was it a new.tire? Or a tire already on a bike? Tubliss is saying can only install on a tire never mounted with a rim lock I have new rim and tire on new bike never riden but Tubliss is saying the rim lock from factory leaves a spot the will have trouble sealing.

  • @TepcoCycleRepair

    @TepcoCycleRepair

    It was a new tire. Don't use your rim lock. The Tubliss system locks the tire in all the way around. The inner bladder has a rim lock of sorts to deal with the valve stem. It's an awesome system and directions are clear on the package. Thanks for watching!

    @@jrago6228 Oh I see, yes mine was a brand new never mounted tire. They are saying that your new tire, because it has been mounted, has marks from the rim locks..ok so I would take the tire off and warm the areas that the rim locks were and let it rest for a day and see how it works. I think if you use the slime method for mounting it will be fine.
