ANSI A108.5 provides the national standard for tile installation. It does not, however, dictate the size or shape of the trowel for an installation. Typically, the size of the tile, the substrate, and the mortar help a tile installer determine what size and shape trowel is best for a given installation. But as tile gets larger and larger, there are even more considerations.
