A big block twin turbo with custom fabrication of everything, from fire supression to cooling to exhaust, to a lower compression internals. This is an work of art from an engineering point of view. A beast!
You guys build the cleanest, most put together engines and fittings I have ever seen.
I gave a thumbs up as soon as I saw those two intercoolers in the grill
Now that is what a big block is supposed to sound like! Frickin' amazing. Nicely done.
Totally clean you guys do some awesome work. Thanks for the post.
I love the raw look of the engine bay and engine
0:11 SO beautifull! Love the metal look and the fact that you haven't coverd/hidden the boltheads on the intake!
You are a real craftsman..I hope to bring you a 69' nova in the future to do...
69 chevelle! my dad's first car, i love that car with the deepest passion, i am saving money to buy a project or barn find to restore to look like my dad's
These are the cleanest engines Ive ever seen!
i like the way they've built this car, its very clean and functional. i really like those cars.
Terrific Chevelle based on an A W E S O M E engine -- quite an engineering masterpiece. Kudos. Thanks for sharing this beauty. "But" ... please, don't encourage use of foul language.
I like how STREETABLE all Tom's builds are, Just fucking insane!!!!
sweet ride man, sweet ride, i am drooling! the twin turbo install is clean, love the custom inner fenders, the stainles steel manifold cove. awesome job, please show it when done
This is one slick trick ride! Thumbs up~
killer workmanship!
details are amazing
awesome ride!!
What a monster! Love it!
How badass would it be to afford one of nre's cars. Beautiful design and fuckin awesome power
sweet jordans Tom!
THIS IS A WORK OF ART .#REALTALK
Damn those seats look comfy!
incredible,,, simple as that, these guys are the best
hat off to this build litteraly
thumbs up man, well said!
"Too much power is just enough" as the saying goes. Keep building/designing bad ass motors, : ).
Impressive level of engineering. If God is in the details, your cars belong in heaven.
Tom, what is the brand of the 5 gauges in the middle, been looking to do the same setup. thx
who made the rear trailing arms? Look nice
That looks so damn fun.
I love this Guy!!!!
what did you do to the frame to put the 4 link in?
where is this car today? i don't remember seeing it in any magazines
is this car finished yet? an update on its build would be nice
What brand of turbos do you use?
@pier456 So by your theory, the GTR engine will not last long because it makes peak power at the lower rpm range than reving to 10k rpms correct?
4 dislikes? Really? If you dont like this wtf do you like?!...this is top shelf roddin!
Awesome car!
road car? has a 1700 stall with twin turbos. how do you get off the line? or is it set up as asort of tc system so you dont over spin the street tires?
Besides matching where you have the best power curve is all where gearing and shift points come in.
What kind of shifter is that? it looks different?
what shifter is that please?
I was always told flowmasters are no good on turbo cars.My turbo 2.3 ending up making my flowmaster rattle inside, the baffels came loose.I love the sound of these cars NRE builds.
@maxst420 The dashboard ones are from Auto Meter, the center console I'm not sure but they look just like summit racing analog gauges. You can find both on summits web site. If you want the link send me a PM.
Please make a vid how you shifting with Winters shifter.
@osirisvb And also have more displacement right?
is it posible to get these older sheet metal box style injection manafilds for pontiac engines????????????????????????? or does on such manafold even exist ?????????????? please help
could you tell me what trans do you have in it?
@pier456 yeah tell me when those high rev turbo honda's make 2200hp on 28lbs of boost @ the 6k rpm range. So what is your point?
one day... beast like this will be mine. King of the road.
where can i get some of those seats omg
@osirisvb so whats the benefits for lower rpms?
@pier456 so now its about gearing and shift points? Well gearing and shift points are based where the motor makes its power. Not just you can put the longest gears on high reving engines.
What brand of gauges are those? Anyone know?
How does it hook with that kind of wheels and tires. I like them but everybody tells me I will have horrible traction. Is that true?
Are those 30 series 3-chambers?
what kind of shifter is that?
@pier456 so what are the pros, tell me, lets hear it.? what are the pros of having a higher rev range?
how much all that run and where are u located
awesome.
how much does a build like this cost. . . and could you fit in a SBC into a E36 style BMW??? how much would something like that run??
How much does a set up like this run you???
every NRE car is a masterpiece....IMO
Yes it is....that was the idea behind a muscle car back in the day regardless of who made it.....to go fast in a straight line, not to turn or stop all that well. And they did very well at the dragstrip.
metal seats?
@ManuelC572 Yes they do.
" Also just to clarify we are building this car to run the mile and other Top Speed runs so while driving this vehicle at anytime under 150mph we will only be running like 5-7psi which will easily net over 1000hp and boost will start climbing from there as drag and speed increases so will the boost pressure." Just part of the post rado made in the comments November 2, 2011 9:01 PM is date he commented
@osirisvb Did you miss where i said modded ls9? Why are you complaining about this when you compared a 572ci to a 376ci motor?
I'd like to apply for the position of camera guy @ Nelson Racing
Ok im not a Know it all car guy but why is the Speed jumping up and down so fast?? Just not finished or is that how it works?
NICE!!!!!!!
depends on the fuel they are running at the time and the amount of boost. alot of time when they make the videos the boost is turned down
@pier456 I dont see how your buggati analogy has anything to do with the rev range that we are talking about. My quesiton is why does Nissan not use 10k rpms if it is so much more better as you stated, the GTR shifts right around 6.8-7k rpms why not rev it to 10k rpms?
@osirisvb im guessing 38-41psi of boost.
@pier456 Not really, again depending on how that big v8 is making its power, if it is N/A then reving it to a higher rpm to make big power is needed, but if its boosted you dont have to rev it to higher rpms, especially when you have displacement to work with.
those seats look comfortable
Really love the engines and cars that are popping out of that shop. Qa1 Shocks way to go if not going for gas shocks by pensky, ohlins or bilstein. Only thing to watch for on qa1 are blown gas bags and occasional underfill, otherwise best oil shock easy to fix as well. Aldon, carrera(out of production), afco and what not are crap.
Not even a windshield yet! HAHA that's awesome.
how much am i looking at price wise
it´ll be an awesome Chevelle !!
@pier456 Your missing one major point, the 3ur is heavily modified with added bore and stroke + being modified to reach 10k rpm range according to Chris Rado. In its production state the 3ur is merely a 5600rpm 381 hp engine, so lets do the same for the ls9. Why only have such rules for the 3ur, that is just a double standard, lets tear ls9 apart, bore and storke it as well then lets add two T88s on to the newly bored and stroked Ls9.
@pier456 just making sure the tables are equal on both sides, not just the import side like you would love to have it.
@osirisvb which btw the 3UR can handle 50psi of boost. Never stated it took that much boost to make the power they stated.
Is this for sale? If so, how much?
@pier456 so why doesnt the GTR use a 10k RPM rev limit? why does it red line at 7000rpm and I bet the automatic transmission shifts way before 7k rpms? Why does it make so much power so easily? why didnt Nissan choose to make it 10k rpms?
@osirisvb that totally explains all those high rev turbo honda's... I am not talking about max power at 10k rpms or what ever you are trying to get at.
What trans?
Muito bom :D Lindoo o carro
@pier456 they used 91mm turbos, bigger than what Chris Rado is using on a low RPM motor.
@osirisvb i think you are missing the fact i wasn't talking about peak power.
@DeanMLFlame I am reffering to the ones in the lower center dash. I have seen plenty of sport comps and those are not them. Notice they are rear mounts and tom refers to them as "aircraft style gauges".
i actually like it stripped. nothing extra to make you think it's a regular car. in our area (hilly) i'd suggest skid plates. the undercarriage views show some important engine etc parts running on the lowdownthere.. love the build . cubic inches - oh! -
damn nice
Might as well be a front wheel drive now looks like you can get in there to work on it now.
@pier456 Again the logic still works, the only problem is you fail to see it. Peak power at 6k rpm vs 10k rpm and if both engines are making the same power your 10krpm engine car will loose.
Old School with a Twist.
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF GAUGES THOSE ARE!!! LOL. If anybody knows could you please tell me, ive spent hours looking for them, this is the exact setup I want know for my 68 chevelle dash.
@osirisvb Can support a bigger turbo broader power band A engine capable of reving up to 10k will be able to last longer then a engine capable of only 6k. Have both set at 6k rpms and the one built for 10k will last longer
@pier456 Again depends on the motor, even with n/a there a big blocks capable of makin 820+ naturally aspirated, if all that power is available at 6rpm range you can kiss the 10k rpm car good bye. its all about the power under the curve.
