I'm 63 yrs old and forgot that everything is digitized mixed and remixed these days. It's a real shame that so many young people have no idea what they are missing hearing live music, with all of the good, bad. I believe that they really earned the respect of their audience because they had to work for it!

Back in the day we saw George at the Oregon State fair, later that night we were in our local bar and he walked in with his boys and played all night in that dive bar with all of us partying like fools. Was beyond amazing.

This is a cover. The 1966 original is by legendary bluesman John Lee Hooker. Of course, this live version is heavily ad-libbed. George has been known for his heavy touring. He once did 50 shows in 50 states in 50 days, no nights off.

A lot of guys actually use sparkplug sockets as slides. Pull the foam out so their finger fits inside. But generally, slides are made out of glass, ceramics, copper or chromed steel. A bunch of the old blues players used old glass corracidan cold medicine bottles or cut down long neck beer or whiskey bottle necks.

And THAT is when you believe in The Blues. What a great Art form, a big Thanks to all those pioneers George calls out in the middle. As others already mentioned, the thing on his finger is a slide - a super-important sound in the Blues. What was that story the guitarist from The Band related? He was playing slide guitar in a side moment, just for his own satisfaction; and was it Muddy Waters who came up behind him? Grabbed him around the chest and said "Don't ever stop playing that..." Tells you how important that sound was.

John Lee Hooker released this song(no sure if he wrote it) but George embellished it a little bit. He is an extremely underrated picker. Every name he called out are Legends of The Blues. They all had their own "tone" and that's what Elven was playing.

The messages you say across these casts make us smile, frown or cry. We feel your emotions. This my friend is a rare talent like the artists you share... Thank you for for this. That all being said, I have a singer I'd love for you to react to.. Seth Anthony; Reckless. Your followers I believe would also love this. This reaction I'd love to see. I saw him 4-times in concert and he was always a crowd pleaser. He played in the gym at SUNY Brockport State in the early 80's and the floor was heaving up and down so much, you could straighten your legs and get bounced off the floor. This was a good performance but if you're new to him, his original version is much better in my opinion.

Spendin' all the rent $$$ buyin' rounds in the bar. Studio version tells the story better, but we don't get to see Elvin Bishop & his "socket" slide makin' the guitar sing & whine. We see those used mostly on horizontal slide guitars. Couple of George's songs you might react to: "Who Do Ya Love?", & "Bad To The Bone", used in the soundtrack of the Stephen King movie, "Christine". Really, for yourself, check out the studio version of this one, & thanks for your reaction.
