I got to buy John Lee Hooker and a friend a couple of beers at a blues festival in Sacramento about forty years ago, a couple of years after I had seen George Thorogood perform in the same space. Crazy, wonderful times!

I love seeing people's faces when they first experience great music. It allows me to relive my first time decades ago Guitar, six strings of magic.

It's a Blues/Rock hybrid... This is a remake of "the House Rent Blues"... George's big Breakthrough was "Bad to the Bones", and the remake of "Who do you love?" is a smash hit as well! I put a speaker system on my cycle, so during "Bike Runs", I'd be in a pack of 25-100 Bikers going down the road, I'd Crank up some Thorogood to Amp everyone up! CONGRATS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!!! Don't forget "I Drink Alone"

George is a master of the guitar, he can make so many different sounds not associated with the guitar. For example, in the Meatloaf video for "I would do anything for love" when the motorcycle revs it's engine that is George doing it on his guitar. My favorite of his is "Move it on Over".

I saw George in '81 on his 50/50/50 tour. That's 50 States in 50 Dates in 50 Days. It was an awesome show. He performed everything he had recorded at the time plus extras that he only did at live shows. One of my favorites of his is "I'm Wanted".

I have spent time in so many of the bars you are talking about, especially having played in bands that played those venues amongst others. And yeah you nailed it. But not just this song, ANY George Thorogood song. I saw him open up for the Stones in 1981 and he just burned the place down. It was amazing.

I've seen George Thorogood live 3 times. Excellent live performances from George & the Destroyers every time. George Thorogood and the Destroyers began a tour on October 23, 1981 in Honolulu, Hawaii. They played fifty consecutive shows in all fifty U.S. states. Not sure if it was a world record, but it sure is cool! 😎

My much older cousin introduced this song to me. I felt like such a cool, cultured kid knowing all the words to this song. So many great memories come flooding back just listening. I love that you love it too. 💜

Bad To The Bone is probably what he's most known for, but Who Do You Love is another great one🎶 And, yes thats George playing the guitar...watch him live!!🎶💙🎵

Yeah it was so great back then when you were so close to the bands... but somebody always has to ruin it, don't they? Could freely smoke then too for a while... cotton mouth.

George used to frequent a place called Jon & Peter's in New Hope, Pa. along the river back in the day. Small place, but he would come in unannounced at times and do his thing, loved it. I moved away from that area, due to Filthadelphia being so close. I don't know if he still shows up or not.

He is actually from Wilmington Delaware. This song brings back some memories. I used to work at a Bar and Grille that once the kitchen closed that took full advantage of the Western New York liquor laws and closed at 4 AM. High end bartenders, juggling bottles and fancy pouring and what not. When the DJ would play this they would put 2 barstools on the bar, pick a male and a female from the crowd and sit them there and when he sings the bourbon, scotch, beer parts, they would pour these into their mouths...crazy times 😂😂😂

There is an amazing live performance of this song, you would really enjoy, but Bad to the Bone, I Drink Alone, Move It On Over, and Who Do You Love? are all fantastic. Check any of them out you can. All have tons of great riffs, and are filled with style.

It's funny that you chose the studio version of this, you usually react to live performances. But there's a great live version with Elvin Bishop and you can watch him do all of this on guitar. And Elvin rocks, too.

I saw him in 1981 when he was on a 50 states in 50 days tour. An amazing touring achievement. I saw the Michigan show at a relatively small venue called The Second Chance in Ann Arbor. The second song, he jumped off the stage and started duck walking through the crowd. He played for 3 1/2 hours. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

This is actually two songs out together..both by John Lee Hooker Rent House Blues 1 Bourbon, 1 Scotch, & 1 Beer I have seen him in concert(He opened for ZZ Top). The man kills it on the guitar , and is great with the slide...

This is a famously awesome cover/mashup of two John Lee Hooker songs, the other being "House Rent Blues." This and "OBOSandOB" are blues classics by one of the best there ever was. "Boom Boom" is another gem of JLH's. Ditto "Tupelo," which is a haunting kind of account of a serious flood in the region.

So back in the 70's this was one of the albums that our Mom would let play on the downstairs record player it was a 5ft long wooden cabinet that came up to your waist the big speakers were one on each end you lifted the door in the middle and looked down was the turntable the radio and cubby holes big enough to put your albums. It had buttons for bass, treble, balance and volume that was high quality back then. For some reason my Mom loved George Thorogood I think it reminded her of her music since she loved the way he sang Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode. My Mom worked for Dick Clark she sang danced did commercials so she was hipper than most Mom's. I was 17 I think my brother could get tickets to go to his show in Philly. When Mom found out she wanted to go. SO she paid for all the tickets and drove a load of us following my brother. She thought it was a concert but it was a show in a big bar that was standing room only and we had to figure out who we were going to ditch her on so we could smoke a joint. I don't know what happen to her that night but me and my sister and the two people that came with us 16 and 17 year olds she bought all the drinks for us my other brothers and two other people. It was the first time any of us drank with our Mom and my other brother had to drive her car home. One of the best nights that I didn't remember parts of it the next day. To Answer your questions George plays lead guitar a bass a drummer one guy played piano sax and other instruments and a another acoustic or electric guitar. I was just waiting to see your face when the chorus started. He is from Delaware and he went to Philly and South Jersey just over the bridge a lot he played mostly clubs /bars I saw him 3 or 4 times. In the 80's he was more successful but never could fill the Spectrum. You all are probably wondering who the hell is Dick Clark the man that never aged was the host on the most popular show in the 60's til the 80 's or more. American Bandstand. The white version of SOUL TRAIN actually its the other way around but I loved Soul Train.

Watch him live at the Capitol Theater in 1984. He sings this Alvin Bishop and the whole concert is fabulous.

I saw him, in my little home town of New Hope, pa. A little tourist town at the Bucks County Playhouse! What a place to see him and his band. Sat about 200 ppl. Was so fun!

I was stationed in the Army in New Jersey and he was from the Philadelphia area 1975 he was playing clubs there.

I saw George and company at the LA Coliseum fronting for the Rolling Stones with a raft of other top bands. The party ripped up a lot of steps when George went to town. It was the BEST, we didn't want him to stop!

I took my boyfriend to see George T. at the Gorge in Washington State. It was so awesome.

I was introduced to George when i was 17 working at Little Caesars. My boss was a Thorogood superfan. I learned you can't go wrong with ol' George on the stereo .

The wildest show I ever saw at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Would’ve been 86 or 87, could still smoke inside so even if you weren’t “inhaling”, you were still messed up just by breathing. There were 15-20 people firing up one about every half hour just around us! They’d blaze a few hits, and pass to folks around them. We went prepared but left with what we brought because we didn’t need it! I’ve never passed on so much, so often. Every few minutes one coming your way. On top of that, there was Wild Turkey 101 bottles being passed around, along with multiple flasks of high octane ‘Shine. Show started at 9 and ended around midnight. We weren’t able to drive until around 5, after walking to the Majestic and consuming our weight in breakfast foods and coffee for 2 hours. And a 45 minute nap in the car followed by more coffee. Fun night!

This was my best friend's favorite song. Unfortunately, he couldn't handle scotch and bourbon, but he loved his beer!! Rest in peace Jeff. Miss ya.

i saw him play in Harrisburg Pa. in '81?? in front of 2,000. people. His 50/50 tour. 1 concert in each state. He could have played in 3 rivers stadium or Veterns stadium to 10 's of thousands. This song ladted FOREVER! He went through many combinations of beers and burbons. Finally he got to 1 Budwiser beer and a shot of Jack! The police escorted him off the dtage around 2am. Lonesome George was there to play music.Afrer ( i think the 2nd) on- core they left the lights on and he kept going. At 1 point a girl in front stood up and put her jacket on. Hes asked her where she was going. Couldn't hear the answer. He then said, " baby we're not leaving untill you've heard every song I've ever recorded". Then he proceeded to hop backwards as he " chicken scratched" and treated everyone to his famous sound.

This is a very busy song. I love it!! Of course the song is a cover combining John Lee Hooker's House Rent Blues and One Bourbon, One Scoth and One Beer. Cleverly done though 😁 One Bourbon....... was written by Rudy Toombs, but George's guitar work pays homage to John Lee Hooker's version throughout. House Rent Blues is a Hooker original I think.

I know you do live versions of songs a lot- there’s a live version of this one that I’ve seen other reactors watch; I don’t know which video but it was performed somewhere in New Jersey. You should take a listen to it - it takes this studio version to a whole other level.

The landlord isn't saying "That don't confront me." She is saying "That don't befront me." Befront means "To concern or bother. To matter to. Someone gives you an excuse for not being able to do something, but you don't care, as long as you get the result you want."

I have been to many a gig in my lifetime and can honestly say George and his band was the best by far. He traveled all the way to my home state of Tasmania (that little island state below Australia) and gave us over two hours of loud hard rock and blues with some comedy thrown in for good measure, on stage in a pub. Don't drink beer but went though at least one to two bottles of Bourbon and whiskey, run amock and had the best night ever.

Heard this when I was 10 when my dad let me listen to his record. He then told me about John Lee Hooker who wrote House Rent Blues and a version of One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer. Great blues is built on top of the shoulders of those who came before.

It's George playing Clarence plays sax for him when this was recorded....and all that is guitar ...not only is it the guitar but he's the only one playing one in the band at the time..... Clarence died a few years ago 😥

Went to the concert and they blow my mind. I was to the side of the stage 3 rows back from the speaker stack, as such it didn't just blow my mind it left me deaf for 3 days lol. I loved his stage version of "My Ding-a-ling". We use to drink a depth-charge which was a double shout of whiskey which you drop (Inc shot class) into your pint.

saw him back in the day at the vancouver commodore, a night club that seats maybe 300. they had a big dance floor made of wood and when everyone danced, the floor would move up and down. great fun. your next song should be - Bad to the bone.

George is amazing live. He pretty much freestyles this song so it tells the same story but he changes some verses when he feels like it. He also freestyles the guitar, just playing what he feels fits the song and the backing band are good enough to follow along.

Grew up on George Thorogood and yep it shuts down a lot of bars. He was an influence for me to learn blues guitar and he was influenced by the best blues men to ever exist. Love your video! Very funny watching younger people react to a blues legend.

George thourogood is/was from Athens Grorga. I saw him/them in july 1982 at the old JFK stadium in Philadelphia PA.
