I first heard the everybody funny, now you funny too! from John lee Hooker's version in late sixties! George improves a lot of covers,I wish he could write! but we all love his vocals, and that Gibson-175 hollow body!
George Thorogood and The Delaware Destroyers have played this song thousands of times, try every night playing out for the last fifty years, but this is still the best version.

Interesting you say that. I bought the collection album, late 80’s I think, which included a live version of this song. For me, that will always be “the” version. Don’t get me wrong, this is good but the “best” one will always be the one that brings back the most memories, drunken as they may be 😏

This is actually two John Lee Hooker songs that George put together. He did a great job.
In the 80s I had 2nd row seats for George and my girl at the time was drop dead gorgeous with smile that lights the room just like Asia’s. He was eyeing her the whole show. Towards the end he was going off on this solo for like 5 minutes. It was epic. He jumps off stage and solos his way down our row, comes up to my girl and makes her stand up. He plays with 5 finger picks, one for each finger. He takes them off and placed them in her hand. Didn’t look at me once , the bastard. It was awesome.😳

John Lee Hooker recorded the song as "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" in 1966 and George's version is a medley of that song and another John Lee Hooker song, "House Rent Boogie. Great stuff! George also does covers of Bo Didley and Hank Williams.

Awesome classic song!
George is one of baddest white boys in Blues period. Still performing. In the top 5 best blues guitar ever. Nice to see he gets the respect he deserves. Live he's unreal.
"One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" was written by Rudy Toombs and recorded by Amos Milburn in 1953, John Lee Hooker in 1966, and George Thorogood in 1977. Amos Milburn's version strolls around a piano. John Lee Hooker's version rocks a full combo behind his real folk blues. George Thorogood's version growls all the way through to the end like a triple shot of that stuff!

I thought it was two songs put together. The first bit with the landlady was one song, and 'One Bourbon..." was another. Story was that George's band was doing a show, it was break time, and George started playing all alone by himself onstage that first song about the landlady. And as he went on band members started coming back to the stage one by one until they kicked into "One Bourbon...." And it became one song they did.
Fun Fact: George Thorogood used to be a Semi Pro Baseball Player. BJ wearing the O's hat reminded me of that.
Three or Four years after I saw him in concert opening for The Rolling Stones, I was sitting in a small dark lounge/bar after work with some friends watching a popular local acoustic duo [bluegrass and blues] act. When they were about to take a break they introduced a friend that was going to come up and fill the 15 minutes. We were all "whatever", then all of a sudden walking up to the tiny stage was George Thorogood and his acoustic guitar and did a small intimate set, including this song. Twenty people in that bar had no idea that we were going to be honored to meet this man and hear him play for his friends and us. I will Never forget that night.

Best bar song! Lasts forever!
Back when this song was released, DJ’s on the radio would refer to him as George Thoroughly Bad. Love your reactions! Keep ‘em comin!
These comments are surely here... (Just haven't read the previous) one of the best shows ever , saw him front row at a small venue. He invited me backstage - no scotch, but a bud and one of my greatest experiences.
I always loved the line where he says "I got a job I'm gonna pay the rent". I can relate to just looking the landlord in the face and telling them a bald face lie. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

This is my favorite George Thorogood song.
Entertainment. That's what good music should ultimately be.
I met George at the Bomb Factory in Dallas. I was delivering propane to the club's owner when the tour bus pulled up. I was starstruck! As I was getting the owner to sign for the delivery, George Thorogood asked me if I was coming to the show? I said I couldn't afford to go. He told the owner to give me 6 tickets! Then he told me he wanted to do a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan, but wondered if it might be too soon? I told him we would love it if he would do it!!&! He showed me a hat SRV had given him and asked me if he should wear it? HELL YEAH, I told him!!^! My friends and I sat next to the stage, had plenty to drink, and got to hang out with him and the band after the show!!&! I will never forget that whole day!!&! Super nice and an amazing musician!!&!
George still around rockin' n rollin' if you hadn't seen him perform, check it out, lots fun and rockin'
Love some Lonesome George! "I Drink Alone" and, "Who Do You Love" ..
This is a mashup of blues legend John Lee Hooker's "House Rent Blues" and "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", done pretty much in Hooker's style. George did a lot of blues covers. Best Thorogood song is "Night Time" from the Thorogood Live! album. Change my mind.

Awesome reaction! I enjoyed this whole thing! His live performance is a must-see for you two! So much energy! So much fun!! For another great one the Asia can see his "bad boy" really come through: "Move It On Over"
He epitomizes "bad boy" and hard drinking. Some of his more popular songs, off of the top of my head, are "Who Do You Love", "I Drink Alone" and "Move It On Over". That third one is a cover. I like "You Talk Too Much" and "Willie and the Hand Jive" which is another cover.

Last call, for alcohol, so what you need? The way the guitar builds up as he says that. Is amazing.
When your on a roadtrip, and this comes on the radio, its the best.
George Thoroughgood and the Deleware Destroyers are a delightful rabbit hole! Two songs you definitely have to visit, "Who Do You Love"" You have to love a sing with lyrics like "Walked through 47 miles of barbed wire, got a live Cobra snake for a neck tie, Now who do you love"? And then there's "I Drink Alone"...."The only one who'll hang out with me is my dear old granddad, and we drink alone, All by ourselves"!
This is one of those songs that requires 'the groove". The lyrics and guitar answer must be perfectly timed, and is only good when the rhythm and tempo are flawless.
Saw him with The Stones in 1981… love that you guys love this so much!❤
His guitar style is fantastic, he doesn't play that guitar he handles it!
Two great lines from this song, for every day livin'... "You know when yo' mouth is gettin' dry... yo' plenty high" "Last call... fo' alcohol!" 🥴😎
Release on my b day back in 77 the whole world cried . 4 big E .gave him a listen 🎶 on top 40 cool blues 💙 awesome aranment and stories 😎.
"Who do you love" is another classic of his
So playful and simply joyful.
Greatest party song of all time. I played football at the University of Colorado back in the late eighties and early nineties. Me and my buddies would go out and request this song. Some of the best days of my life. Thank you for a good reaction.
George is one heck of a guitar player and singer I love his playing
It's sooooo much fun watching you young people groovin' on this music. It validates my generations taste in music.

That's because these artists lived these songs and experiences unlike today's singers who get handed a song by a record PR guy and told it will be a hit even when it sucks.Tom Petty said he spent 37 years trying to be a success but today a tv show hypes no talent to make stars. His song Running down a dream is about that.
"He doesn't want to speak. He's going through a lot". lmao. Great reaction. I forgot how funny this song is on top of the great guitar work.
Y'all are so cute together! Great song by a real bad boy!
Such a great bluesy song. Your page is awesome!!!!!!!!
His music is so catchy and gives us all the Thorogood attitude 🤣
Songs like this influenced rap. All he's doing really is rapping. Before rap became rap. The word wrap just meant talking. When you say you was rapping with somebody the other day meant that you was talking.
Years back a friend asked me to go see Thorogood with him. While I like George and know most of his songs I'm a Metal guy. But he was driving and the ticket was only like $20 so I went. I'm so glad I did it was so rowdy and fun. George uses that guitar as it's telling the story too and you could see he was having as much fun as the crowd was.
Saw him at the famous Toad's Place in New Haven Ct(early 80s). He tore the place up. Our "friend" went home drunk without us. Luckily, some nice young ladies let us crash at their place. The good ole days! Rock on all.
Just a masterpiece of a song and George KILLS it!
Next - "I Drink Alone" & “Who Do You Love?” - it's George , by George.
That's fire !!! George is a bad ass !!!
he was all blues and rythm guitar as you can hear..man he had soul in his music..sang from the heart...rare these days
Best story teller ever!!!!!!
I saw lonesome George many times during the 80s. It always felt like party. Everyone having a blast. Thanx for finding him
thats a compliment he was all about blues and rythm..my dad met him once..no lie in a bar..and said he was the most down to earth guy he ever met. (dad was x military) but he said man he just talked with me like a friend he had known forever he had a lot of respect for him
I'm hearing these songs for the 2nd 1st time... good job nice hook
A classic performance! Love this feel good song. George is definitely a "Bad Boy" on this song. The story makes me laugh every time. The guitar is great too!!!!
Got to see George when he came to Montana in early 90s. His live version of Bad To The Bone,, is just that BAD!! As in AWESOME!! Love his sound! Bad to the Bone came up, crowd goes NUTS!!
Believe it or not, George lived down the street from me in Browntown! The bar he's talking about is on Lower Oak Street & Maryland Avenue. Wilmington, Delaware. He originally went by George Thorogood & The Delaware Destroyers.
I saw George Thorogood in 1981 at the LA coliseum, he was one of the opening acts for the Rolling Stones. From what I can remember, he put on a pretty good show.
My favorite George Thorogood song! 🥃🥃🍺
There are some good stories coming out of Newark, DE, about George and the Boys. George loved baseball and pro wrestling. He played semi-pro ball till the Boys made him quit. Then the group went on tour of 50 States in 50 days where 48 of the State's venue were traversed to by car - specifically in George's Checker car and a van. There's also the story of the Destoyers and the Nighthawks playing in venues across the street from each other in Georgetown where in a pre arranged point George and Jimmy Thackeray of the Nighthawks walked out, exchanged guitars and each played with the other band. George and the Boys played the local townie bar in Newark, with George dancing and playing on the bar, they were the penultimate bar band. It wasn't until a few days before the start of the 50/50 tour that I got to see them in a stadium venue when they got to front for the Stones tour in Boulder and then later at Red Rocks. Great to dance to but never made my playlist. Twenty-five years later he wouldn't even take my phone call. But a shout out to Billy and Jeff who are righteous dudes and provided the basic force underlying their music. 🎶 Soon good memories.
First time I ever heard this song...BEST guitar I had ever heard up until that point - and I had already heard "Bad to the Bone" years earlier. This is definitely one of my favorite "storytelling" songs.
Well, you have stumbled into my other favorite (George and Skynyrd are two all time greats). I have seen George live about a dozen times. In the first shows I attended 90, 91 first row gen admission Nautica Stage in CLE, I can't explain the level of excitement. Absolutely THE BEST live concerts of all time.
"One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" (originally "One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer") is a blues song written by Rudy Toombs and recorded by Amos Milburn in 1953. John Lee Hooker did a cover and added his signature "boogie" blues style. When George Thorogood recorded it for his 1997 debut album he combined it with a cover of another John Lee Hooker song - the "House Rent Boogie".

Those were John Lee Hooker riffs that he was playing during his storytelling. That’s originally a John Lee Hooker song, called the house rent blues.
This is classic boogie woogie rock n roll. . originally done by John Lee Hooker.

Well, after that, you just have to do his song 'I Drink Alone'. Same theme!!! Also the live version+video of 'One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer' is awesome, from that same show you watched 'Bad To The Bone'. That was another great reaction guys, thank you!
Move it on over is kickass as all of his songs are. Saw him in the early 90's in Eastern Washington I loved it.
Back around the year 1999, I was living in my hometown in the suburban south of Boston Massachusetts, and going to a certain diner for dinner and beers. They had a great jukebox, and I loved this song having heard it years ago. Every time I went in there I played that song again and again and again so the whole house had to hear it! George Thorogood and the Delaware destroyers, adapting to different blues songs and making them one. Brilliant! I saw George Thorogood in Cambridge Massachusetts live, he does this thing where it was a fairly small club in a long narrow room, he took his damn guitar with his cord and went out into the street to finish this song!
This man can rock it yesssss
I can tell when Asia really digs a tune: smiling and engagement. A long LONG time favorite with my old self, that's for sure, and man have I ever been there. "Can I stay witcha maybe a couple days?" Absolute nightmare. :)

You should do his version of "Move it on Over" which was written and originally recorded by Hank Williams in '47 or '48. George gives it the genuine Thorogood treatment, and ended up with a rock hit. Most people who have grooved to it have no idea it was a Hank Senior tune.
