if i have to use a stick for thin stuff i use a second thicker rod with the flux knocked off to pull heat out of the weld. it works but not that good. if its perfectly cut with almost no gap sometimes i can just run a beat with a 1/16 but at 20-25 amps (what ever the lowest setting on the welder i was using at the time). It would be better to tack the corners, then turn the tube as welding horizontally is easier than vertically. Then lower the Amps and use a thin rod that is matched to the thickness of the tube, rather than using the Universal rod.

Yep that works for me when I'm welding with my Miller 180 mig welder with auto set even when I turn the amps down to 3 if I try and weld a continuous bead non stop it will burn through very easily 16 gage metal, so because I used Flux core wire and because of the windy conditions where I live, I have to weld short beads then brush the weld then start again with a short bead. It is best to make these beads 180 degrees from each other in-between of each bead till there is a short space between on all sides that you can finish off with the last short beads. This way will prevent the opposite side from pulling away and the gap between increasing, as compared to fully welding one side at a time which tends to make the opposite side gap get bigger. It also helps keep the two peaces stay straight once fully welded and prevent warping because of too much heat for too long. 😊😊😊

Сколько этого сварщика вижу ролики да кто-нибудь подарите ему перчатки 😂
At least it’s uphill.
I have to say that isn't easy. Especially with a stick welder. The spot welding is always a great trick with very thin gauge materials. Now if anybody notices he is to the left of the joint, he's using the weld pool to weld the gap or joint. This is because of the material is constant thickness and the weld pool will be cooler than the center weld pool. So it won't melt through.

Normally that would not work since you would not be penetrating but since the material is so thin it should work
What I think you should do is move down to a Much smaller rod which makes you use A LOT less amps which means less heat which means no burn through to be real a job for that thin metal would be for MIG FCAW or TIG
You can set it into DCEN, when welding thin material
Rip it downhill with a thinner fast freeze rod such as a 3/32" or 1/16" 6011 or 6010.
