This is the best video I have ever seen showing the different styles in the beads that are run. I was trying to explain welding to my granddaughter this morning and she loves to do and wants to learn everything about mechanic in mechanical stuff but anyway this is the best video to show her how different beads are run and kind of how it looks after it's done the right way. Thank you so much for sharing your skills with us. It's a whole lot better than granddaddy trying to explain to her!

I usually use the figure 8 pattern(last one) when I have to weave a MIG weld, it works well for me as it's like a natural metronome and burning back into your puddle slightly seems to help smooth the edges.

Hey man.. I'm new to welding so I have a couple opf questions if u have a minute my bro?? Q.1 What kind of Amps/ how high I mean/ should I be using on some 40x40mm 2.5mm Square tubing? I'm using some E6013 rods for the job as well. I read somewhere that 40-45A and 6013 rods would be fine but would it be or is it best to keep practicing until I find the right settings. A ball park of where to start would be helpful my bro.. Thanks. Q.2 The 40x40mm and 25x25mm Sq tubing & the 40x40mm 2.5mm Angle mild steel is for a table saw I'm about to build. For steel so thin how should it be welded? Is it tack 1st and then lay down only one line of beading bcos I'm going to weld the housing of the saw parts like the motor and blade housing all into a type of box shape. Apologies if I'm making this sound silly my bro but I bought a cheap table saw and rather than spend a Grand on another contractor saw here in Ireland I wanna built the saw from scratch. I will eventually build the body of the saw with 40x40 Sq tubing to and surround it with some steel sheet about 3mm thick at the end. I bought the Sq tubing at 100cm in length. I will be building the rails and fence from similar 2.5-3mm thick material also. It's a long ways off atm but practice makes perfect and I suppose I really need to get my hands on some waste materials so I can stick weld with, yes? I really appreciate ur videos bro. They help out a lot but I'm really worried about burning a hole in my very thin stock. All my lengths are 100cm's. Should I buy a good bit extra bcos they can be bought for around 20 euros for 2 of the 100cm 2.5mm 40x40mm angle stock.. I thought that was a decent price but I'm a complete newb and what would I actually know ..?? LMAO.. any helpful advice, tips and tricks to getting great welds/Amps and length of time or speed of movement with the rod, etc would be really well received bcos I'm badly in need of it.. Thanks in advance but I will reply to say thanks anyways.. Salute from Dublin, IRE.

I was taught, preparation is the key to any area that needs welding. Using the correct rod for the size and thickness of metal to be welded, correct amperage is required, tack work before doing the full weld, correct angle and speed will result in good penetrative and work, your flux will lift away with you needing to chip it away. Don't rush it.

I totally agree my friend. Time served welder here from back in the 80's I.C.I North East England. If welded correctly, the slag just curls up off the weld by itself.🙏

I use the last bead when I do most flat welding! 6013 is just a cover rod easy an make best looking bead if speed an temps good! Most Welders use 7018 much better holding tensile strength! A lot of splatter is your welder on AC or DC? Try switching makes big difference if use DC!
