its funny when we talk about fearing “not being” or death when every night of our lives we cease to be when entering the deepest part of sleep , yet theres a part of us that on the whole loves this death, we cant wait to fall to sleep where everything we know as this reality, this life ends so that we can take a rest , and when we awaken again we often say i had a really good nights sleep, we love non existing and we love a rest from being.. Yet even when in the deepest part of sleep “ we” still are are we not? We dont know consciously that we are, but our bodies are laying there unconsciously functioning perfectly well without our help which we are not only totally unaware of but on the whole have absolutely nothing to do with whether awake or in deep sleep, yet we love this “unconscious state, this “daily death” , this experience of non-experiencing.. who are we that we experience even this in someway? because again, a part of us loves what we call this deep sleep experience each night. So in reality “we” actually die and rest in peace each and every single day where we are totally unconscious of anything similarly as in our actual eventual death , yet in this deep sleep state we still are . So what is it that we still are ? What awakens each day , or does not when what we call our final death arrives? are we still even then in that eternal rest but unconscious that we are as we are each night? Do “we” wake up each day? or does the body with all of its functioning and mental programming , our constructed learned sense of a person that we call I or ourself ? is that what awakens ? because again in deep sleep we still are so what dies and re-awakens each day?? Is it that which we believe that we are that we re-awaken each day, our persona? or do we awaken to it,or are we awoken by it ? I think these are fundamental questions to ponder on in this context of discussing Nothingness. if We”/ Nothingness in this context , do not “die” during deep sleep then what “reawakens” ? is it that which we have been lead to believe that we are, have been taught that we are by being given a name to which we answer, who has been taught how to be and not to be to survive in this illusion that we call our world , our reality? the same reality which incidentally the most profound seers amongst us over millennia have tried to show us is illusory , that “we” or whom we think we are is an illusion, a delusion, a construct that we have to recreate each day? We do have to remember who that is each day after all as we awaken , what shit has happened to us that has “ made us who we are” and “ oh yes, i’m married, im a son a farther a mother, Im a success, a failure , i’m religious , I’m not etc etc etc and then off we trott to continue this mascaraed un till we sleep again tonight. And so the play goes on As you say Sam , it is the one for whom all of this is seen who awakens each day and just is, and who knows the true meaning of contentment, and for whom happiness is his natural state , and as you also say what more, who else ,what else does one for whom this is his reality need ? He radiates the very essence of contentment ,and draws life from himself, and he creates his own world. He needs for nothing ! yet he can still walk in this world and interact within it while all the time knowing its and his own true nature. and i fear my eventual death equally as much as i fear entering deep sleep tonight meaning not at all, in fact i equally welcome it because after all when all is said and done the question still remains.. who dies? I’m absolutely loving this series on Nothingness Thank you Sam, its both enlightening and very entertaining all at the same time Thank you

The design principal of Notan in Asian art comes to mind. It is the relationship between dark and light as well as brush stroke and empty space that produces an exquisite immediacy and balance.

I have always been skeptical of competition, and I observe the pursuit of "success" creating celebrities in a system of animal husbandry :a created distraction
