Thank you so much for watching and enjoying this video! It makes me so happy to see Oona and Gage's skating reaching a massively deserved audience. We filmed one more routine this day that I will be editing and posting soon, but in the meantime, do check out Oona and Gage Brown's GoFundMe page for their training season here: gf.me/u/zbu2q5. Even though many national and all international competitions have been cancelled this season, that hasn't stopped them from continuing to train, in the hopes they can qualify for Junior Worlds next year and possibly earn a spot at the Olympics one day. Again, that GoFunMe link is here! gf.me/u/zbu2q5

They do know ahead of time... Or the good ones do - my brother-in-law is a cameraman he's done many olympics...I've known other people who have done sports in concerts They study the choreography ahead of time. But they also have automated multi-cameras which seamlessly looks like it's the same frame when it's not I've also been to those ice capades shows years ago - when a skater falls, they have them come out after the show and redo those sections of there choreography so when it goes on TV it looks perfect I'll tell you that I walked a NYC runway decades ago - you would never recognize me - I didn't... As someone who has no idea of ice skating, why would it be national level? Yeah it was super cool but wouldnt they also habe to do jums and stuff like that?
@ChaosAngel1331
3 жыл бұрын
@@shy8311 I think it's mostly their coordination. It looks super easy but it is really difficult to be as fluid as they are here and not trip over your partners boots and stuff. The jumps aren't too complex but bear in mind he has to move smoothly while bearing her weight and do turns which puts a good amount of pressure on your leg. It's so easy to mess up jumps to and spins, the closer or farther away from the ground are very hard to do without slipping as you can fall if not done at the right angle and injure yourself. It's all the centre of balance thing to as you have to make it look good while skating which can get in the way if your being technical about jumps and timing, especially in doubles as timing jumps is a good portion of the marks. Being able to do all this with minimal mistakes is certainly national level skating. Some professionals struggle with this in their 20s and 30s in professional skating yet they were able to do it so well. I would love to do this but sadly had to quit due to injuries, very impressed at their work. Sorry for the rant though

I love that sound of blade cutting into the ice on those deep edges, I'm glad it got captured here too, it made it much more real.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard the noise of the skates. The grinding and growling. It adds enormously to the physicality of the performance. Wonderful.
Astounding! They skate so well together, like two parts of one body. Just amazing.
I haven't watched ice skating since the 90s/early 2000s..but man this makes me want to watch again. I love that the younger generations are keeping ths alive so awesomely.
This is most definitely the most beautiful and enjoyable skating performance I have ever watched. No commentators, judges, talking, just their perfect skating and the sound of the ice. Amazing!

Yes! They are in the zone. Pure, raw skating. No crowds, no pressure, no pressure to make the jumps. I love couples skate. And they are really enjoying themselves. Cool :).
1:11 side note.... I was at the original San Francisco symphony and Metallica show wayyyy back in the day. And this version of "nothing else matters" is from that collaboration.... Was an absolutely amazing show, so much so that we were going to buy scalp tickets for the second night, but remembered we already had things on the schedule. My husband and I also took his two sons with us.... One of the best albums they did in my opinion....

Gosh, what an awesome performance 😍😍they were just flying over the ice😍😍the camera was awesome. Never saw a performance in such a speed and intensity. Love it 😍😍
I loved the fact that they weren't wearing costumes, which more often than not distracts from a performance rather than enhances it. The focus was totally on their art, not the bling.

As an ice skating , particularly "ice dance" enthusiast, for over 40 years, this routine, the music & what made it over the top was the camera work for this beautiful performance. I think it's my favorite even over Bestemianove & Bukin of the 80's ice dancing champions who won many titles in ice dance. Loved it to tears.
Filmed so well. It really feels like we're flying across the ice.

But the camera work was BRILLIANT, and I felt completely pulled into their performance because of it. I can only imagine how much time went into strategizing the camera positions and number of times practicing and performing to ensure the pure perfection which was executed!!! WOW!

@@fe5018 Passion and Chemistry aren't solely romantic aspects. It's such a shame how that's the automatic default these days. That's another reason why I especially love this routine and this duo: they're fueled by a sense of intimacy that isn't often portrayed in skating. The vast majority of professional figure skating pairs always have this tinge of romantic and wondrous tension in their dynamic, their routines and their costumes, even if the relationship the skaters themselves share is completely platonic and/or professional. With this brother-sister team, we have a pair with a loving essence that almost nobody would mistake for romance, so they're not only delivering medal-worthy routines, they're flipping the stereotype upside down of romantic affection being the most prevalent affection, or the only kind of affection allowed, to be hinted at in the sport, or that the strength of sibling and familial love could never hold up to romantic love.
Even though there weren’t any audience to cheer for them. There are 9M people cheering and supporting them...You guys did amazing! Keep up the Good Work!
