I'm not an ice skater but i feel like ice skating has a sense of freedom to it, being able to fly above the ground is such a beautiful thing, it feels like an escape from the real world to a world where you can spread your wings and let go of any boundaries

@@kiziahnicaabian1467 this is a gala performance after alexandra won gold, everyone can do whatever they want just to put up a good show. but on the side note, figure skating's code of points (overall not just olympics) is strict af that some of the tricks alexandra trusova has done are not allowed for women's, only men can do it without receiving deductions.

There's a difference between an average Joe kicking a ball in a net and a proffessional athlete who trains every day doing that. If it were easy we'd all be footballers.

Whut Dafeq soccer training for pros is extremely similar to training for regular ppl. To play soccer, you just need to be able to run and shoot. To figure skate, you need to be able to jump, run and dance, all on a blade that’s about a mm thick. I think I can safely say being a professional soccer player is far easier than being a professional figure skater. The only reason soccer became so popular in the first place is because it is so accessible.

@@bente1695 as someone who trained soccer for months and STILL sucked at it, I can safely say it's not nearly as simple as just "being able to run and shoot". Granted I can't skate but I've seen kids a quarter my age that can easily skate and jump and dance on a mm thick blade. How about instead of calling one sport easier than the other, we agree on the fact that that all sports are hard to perfect on a professional level.

Whut Dafeq you just sound like you’re not athletic.. I know how to play soccer pretty well and I also know how to skate pretty well. Guess which took me the longest to learn? I just feel like people act like soccer is the god of all sports and things such as skating or dance aren’t as athletic because they’re considered girly. There’s some real misogynistic thoughts behind that.

@@mx.poopybutthole4581 Actually she's not. The girl version of yurio from yuri on ice inspiration come from Julia Lipnitskaia, 2014 Olympic Team Champion. Equally talented. Now retired. And both Alexandra Trusova and Julia trained under the same coach under Eteri Tutberidze!

I'm really emotionally about ice skating since I was little. for some reason I've always wanted to be a bird a they look so free when they're skating. (and I'm not good at it, I can fall even if I'm going straight.)
